00:00Happy birthday, dear Leighton.
00:05Previously on Seven Little Jostens.
00:08Today we are celebrating Miss Leighton's first birthday.
00:12It has gone by extremely fast, but here we are.
00:16Ready? One, two, three.
00:18Yay!
00:19Hello.
00:20Hey, guys.
00:21How are you?
00:22Doing well. How are you?
00:24We were just gifted some land for my parents,
00:27and so now we are going to meet with a builder.
00:31Typical Barndominium plan.
00:33Most of them are on a slab foundation.
00:35Okay.
00:36How long does that typically take for you guys to build?
00:39Um, six to nine months.
00:40Six to nine months.
00:42Should we continue with, you know, keeping the land and building,
00:45or should we go back to looking
00:47and just simply buying a house off the market?
00:50I overheard Elizabeth and Emma talking about Anna,
00:56and the party.
00:57Was she sent an invitation?
00:59Not at this point because she's not speaking
01:02to any one of her family members.
01:05It definitely hurts and makes me upset
01:08that I was such a big part in the beginning,
01:10and now I'm not part of it,
01:13and part of Leighton's life right now.
01:15Leighton doesn't even know her.
01:16Yeah.
01:17She hasn't seen Leighton in months.
01:19Have you been in here before?
01:31I have not.
01:32Um, I don't think so.
01:34It's a really busy time of the year.
01:36We just finished celebrating Leighton's first birthday,
01:39and we're getting ready to start celebrating our anniversary,
01:42and Thanksgiving's coming up.
01:44What's up, guys?
01:45Hey.
01:46How are you guys?
01:47How are you?
01:48We need a shop.
01:49We're doing an Asian Thanksgiving this year.
01:51Yeah, cool.
01:52So Asian Thanksgiving came up because Emma is like,
01:55hey, Mom, can we do rice this year?
01:57And I was like, hmm.
01:59Then that got me to thinking, and I was like,
02:01hey, what do you think about if instead of doing
02:03the traditional Thanksgiving,
02:05we kind of put a little Asian flair on it?
02:07And, of course, she's like, yes.
02:09Like, with all the Asian stuff.
02:11What sauces do we need?
02:13Mushroom soy sauce.
02:15Mushroom soy sauce.
02:17I know what that is.
02:18I know what that is.
02:19Yeah, I've heard of it.
02:20So for this Asian Thanksgiving,
02:23we are making rice, noodle, fish, and dumplings.
02:29Just one singular noodle.
02:31Oh, yeah.
02:32Just one noodle.
02:33Just one noodle.
02:34Shrimp.
02:35Do you have shrimp?
02:36What kind of shrimp?
02:38Saltwater shrimp.
02:39I don't know.
02:40Do you have the box, the headless one?
02:44Yeah, I think we'll take the headless.
02:48I kind of drifted away to stealthily acquire a duck.
02:56The reason why I did it stealthily is because I knew Alex
02:58and Emma wouldn't be on board with it.
03:02There we go.
03:05Let's see.
03:06Oh, you found the rice.
03:07What rice is that?
03:08Jasmine rice.
03:09That's all that.
03:10We need one more.
03:11That's ginger.
03:12Found ginger.
03:13Oh.
03:14We have two children from different countries.
03:17Anna is from Russia.
03:18Alex is from South Korea.
03:20And Emma is from China.
03:22It's very important that, you know, we celebrate their culture.
03:25We keep their culture in, you know, our home and in their lives.
03:31What are those?
03:32This is borscht soup.
03:33A few years back, we made an authentic, or we attempted to make an authentic Russian meal for Anna's birthday.
03:42Borscht smells like topsoil.
03:45All right.
03:46You look so handsome.
03:47Happy New Year.
03:48Nice.
03:50Alex did the traditional Korean bow to the family, wishing us a Happy New Year.
03:54And he loved it.
03:55He loved it.
03:56Yeah.
03:57Couldn't you tell?
03:58It was weird.
03:59It was kind of weird.
04:00It was kind of weird.
04:01Alex found mom and dad because, I don't know.
04:02I thought it was weird, too.
04:03It's just weird.
04:04All right.
04:05Now, really happy.
04:06Yeah.
04:07Emma, really happy.
04:08So I gave mom the finger.
04:11Whoops.
04:12My bad, mom.
04:13So we have everything we need, plus a redfish.
04:15Yeah.
04:16Yeah.
04:17Yeah.
04:18Yeah.
04:19Yeah.
04:20Yeah.
04:21Yeah.
04:22Yeah.
04:23Yeah.
04:24Yeah.
04:25Yeah.
04:26Yeah.
04:27Yeah.
04:28Yeah.
04:29Yeah.
04:30I'd say we're done.
04:31We're going to challenge Bryce to bake the fish, and then we all just put it on a board.
04:35And we all just eat it with chopsticks like we did when we were in China getting Emma.
04:39So I grabbed a red snapper.
04:41Jonah's never smoked a snapper on the smoker.
04:44So the challenge is on.
04:47Are you going to help cook all this?
04:49Yeah, I'll try.
04:50I'm definitely excited about this because I love Chinese food because what's not to love?
04:56Thank you so much.
04:57All right.
04:58Thank you, Kim.
04:59Have a great day.
05:00Thanks for your help.
05:01Come on in here, Mom.
05:02Hi.
05:03Oh my God.
05:04You're doing laundry.
05:05Yep.
05:06The future, the future is now, the future, the future is now.
05:13Hi, Ma.
05:14Hi.
05:15Oh, my God, you're doing laundry.
05:17Yep.
05:19So, Bryce and I have been looking at houses.
05:22What about the land that Mom and Dad got?
05:24Was it here?
05:25Yeah, here.
05:26Even though Bryce and I are really grateful for the land,
05:29we have given the land back to Mom and Dad
05:31because after realizing how expensive it is to build a home,
05:35we see that it's better for us to try to find a home
05:38that's already been built and online.
05:40So, we've gone back to house shopping.
05:43Funny you asked because we might have found a house.
05:46You did?
05:47Yeah, let me find the picture.
05:49There's a potential house that we have found.
05:51It's about 20 minutes away.
05:53That's the house, though.
05:56Ooh.
05:57Oh, my gosh.
05:58That is pretty.
06:00It has a nice big front yard.
06:01It has a nice backyard.
06:02Yeah, it looks like it.
06:03And then there's a decent-sized shed for Bryce's taxidermy shop.
06:08Oh, that's good.
06:09And storage, but, yeah.
06:10I like it.
06:11It's, like, perfect for you guys.
06:13We were told that there's already offers on it,
06:16and so once we go look at it,
06:18it's pretty much we make an offer or not
06:20soon after we look at it.
06:22I forgot people can do all that.
06:25Other real, yeah.
06:27So, we have to make an offer quick.
06:30Well, hopefully y'all get it, and...
06:32Yeah.
06:32Because it's really perfect for you guys.
06:34So, the little guest bedroom slash playroom,
06:38it'll help out with all the toys,
06:40the extra toys that we got from Leighton's birthday.
06:43Did Anna, like, ever reach out to you,
06:46like, on Leighton's birthday,
06:47or say any, like, happy birthday to Leighton?
06:50No, Anna, because, unfortunately,
06:55after Leighton's birthday,
06:56when she started up all that crap on social media,
06:59whenever she screenshotted that fake account
07:03and put on her story,
07:04that stupid statement about Leighton's birthday
07:07not being invited and such.
07:10So, a couple days after Leighton's birthday,
07:12some chaos kind of went on a social media platform.
07:16Anna took some anger, I guess you could say,
07:19to social media,
07:21how that she was not invited to Leighton's birthday party,
07:24but the whole twist of it was,
07:26apparently, a fake account
07:27that looked very similar to mine.
07:29The only thing is,
07:30it was on a different social media platform
07:32that I personally do not have,
07:34so it was not mine.
07:35It was fake,
07:36and Anna thought it was actually me.
07:40There's a social media post
07:41with pictures of Leighton's first birthday,
07:44and someone commented,
07:46where's Anna?
07:48And then Elizabeth commented,
07:50she was invited but didn't come.
07:55And then I was like,
07:57oh, hell no,
07:58because I was not invited.
08:00And then I posted on my social media,
08:02I was not invited,
08:04because if I was invited,
08:06I would have came regardless of the situation.
08:09And I tried messaging her,
08:12pretty much telling her,
08:14like, you know better,
08:14this is not me.
08:16And she just took it off super jokingly
08:18and was like, ha, ha, ha,
08:19I know it's you.
08:21And I'm like,
08:21I don't even have this app.
08:23So I tried calling her,
08:25and she didn't pick up.
08:26And we had a few choice words
08:27with each other through text,
08:29because she didn't pick up.
08:30And I ended it with,
08:33because it was anger and mad,
08:34but I told her that
08:35she was absolutely pathetic,
08:37and if she wanted to mend things
08:39between the family,
08:40she could come see us in person.
08:41And then I blocked her.
08:44I was not invited
08:46to Leighton's birthday party.
08:47But she put it on me
08:48and said,
08:49you know Leighton's birthday.
08:50When Leighton's birthday is,
08:52you could have come,
08:53showed up.
08:54Everybody else got an invitation.
08:56Everybody else knew
08:57that there was a big birthday party.
08:58And I know that,
08:59because I talked to family members about it.
09:01They want to throw out,
09:02oh, Anna's been missing
09:03Leighton's life.
09:07And I have.
09:08And it's sad.
09:09You could have invited me,
09:10and I would have came
09:13to celebrate her in one year.
09:15But you didn't invite me,
09:16and you invited everybody else.
09:18I don't know how
09:19we're going to fix things.
09:20I don't know,
09:21because this whole social media thing
09:23really put a dent
09:23into my relationship
09:24with her and I both now,
09:27because it brought Leighton in
09:29to the picture.
09:31So I don't know.
09:32You know,
09:32Anna's social media post
09:34about Leighton's birthday
09:35definitely has caused
09:36more hurt feelings.
09:38Because of that,
09:39we have decided to,
09:40you know,
09:41not reach out to Anna
09:42and officially invite her
09:44to Thanksgiving.
09:45She has lived in our home
09:46long enough
09:48and has been a part
09:50of our family long enough
09:51to know what we do.
09:53And if she wants to be a part,
09:55she can come be a part.
09:57Well, she can reach out
09:58to all of us
09:59or she can come here.
10:01She is open to come here.
10:03Yep.
10:04And she won't.
10:04She chose not to.
10:06Well, at least we have each other.
10:08That's all I mean.
10:09Throw your arms around me
10:15and look at what we finally found.
10:19This is where the heart is held
10:21and nothing in the world
10:22can stop us now.
10:24Feel like we finally arrived.
10:27Hey, babe.
10:29Yes.
10:29Where are you at?
10:31In the kitchen.
10:33Oh, yeah.
10:33You got to be a little bit more.
10:35I'm in the kitchen.
10:36I'm in the kitchen.
10:38So I have a little
10:39day planned for us.
10:41Today, I have
10:42a little surprise for Amber
10:44to go celebrate
10:45our 26th wedding anniversary.
10:51The date idea
10:52that I have for Amber
10:54for our anniversary
10:54is I have two different cards
10:56and Amber gets to choose one
10:58and whichever card she chooses
10:59is what we're going to do.
11:01That you have to pick
11:02is where we're going to eat.
11:06All right.
11:09Burgers.
11:14It seems like
11:1426 years has gone by.
11:17Well, this year
11:18has gone by really fast.
11:19They say time flies
11:21when you're having fun.
11:24To me, it's like,
11:25man, if you made it
11:26another year with that person,
11:28you know.
11:30For real?
11:31Yeah, exactly.
11:35First stop of the date.
11:3626 years.
11:37We're going fancy.
11:39How are you?
11:41How are you?
11:42It's my 26th wedding anniversary.
11:44I've made it this far.
11:47Trent.
11:48Are you there?
11:51Wiz, what kind of options
11:52do you think Bryce
11:54would give you
11:55for a date?
11:56An activity
11:57hunting or fishing.
11:58There you go.
11:59Yeah, I'm about to say.
12:00The activity,
12:01not even, like,
12:02you know,
12:03the fun part,
12:04like, where we could,
12:04like, you know,
12:05have some alone time.
12:06Not even that.
12:07We'll still choose
12:07hunting and fishing
12:08over that.
12:09Now we have to pick
12:10our destination.
12:12Park.
12:12Park, and not the river.
12:14We're right out of the water.
12:20Thank you, bud.
12:21Mom and dad are on a date.
12:23Liz and Bryce are at work,
12:24so I'm babysitting
12:25late in this afternoon.
12:26What are you doing?
12:33Emma as an aunt
12:35is amazing.
12:36There's no other way
12:37to describe it.
12:38Leighton lights up
12:39her whole world.
12:41I love watching
12:41them two together,
12:42and I can't wait
12:43the older Leighton gets
12:45and see how their
12:46relationship grows,
12:47because Leighton loves Emma.
12:48Leighton gets all smiley
12:50and giddy with Emma,
12:50and it's so sweet.
12:52That's the definition
12:53of being an aunt.
12:53Yeah, and she's so sweet.
12:59Look.
13:00Moo.
13:01Moo, moo, moo.
13:05Moo.
13:07Since Anna and I
13:08used to, you know,
13:09babysit Leighton together,
13:11I definitely miss those times.
13:13All right.
13:14Are y'all gonna handle it?
13:15Yes, we can.
13:16I'm only 10 minutes away.
13:19You got it.
13:19We'll be fine.
13:20It is sad that Leighton
13:21doesn't have her other aunt,
13:23because it was fun
13:25when it was us two,
13:26me and Anna.
13:27She's gonna be crazy.
13:29Just like us.
13:31Helping Liz out
13:32and just entertaining Leighton
13:33and just having
13:35that bonding time.
13:37Moo.
13:38Moo.
13:38Moo.
13:38Moo.
13:39Moo.
13:39Moo.
13:39Moo.
13:39Moo.
13:40Moo.
13:40Moo.
13:41Moo.
13:41Moo.
13:41Moo.
13:42Moo.
13:42I understand Anna has a little
13:45frustration with mom and dad,
13:46but she also has been
13:49just saying a lot of crap
13:52on social media
13:53about us siblings, too,
13:55and it's definitely upsetting
13:56because we really haven't
13:59done anything to her,
14:00and it's definitely pushed back
14:03like how I feel about her
14:05and how maybe all of us
14:07feel about her, so, yeah.
14:09I just wish Anna would
14:11come to us in person,
14:15talk to us,
14:16not be scared,
14:17because she's always able
14:18to come to, you know,
14:19like our house
14:20and be able to talk about it
14:23and fix the problem.
14:24But right now,
14:26she's not really doing that,
14:27and it's just not helping
14:29with the situation,
14:30and she's making it
14:31a big deal on social media
14:33saying that we're the bad person,
14:35and she's not.
14:37You like those?
14:39I think those are her favorite.
14:41No, you have to go around.
14:43We enjoy being with each other.
14:49We enjoy being together.
14:50What about right here?
14:52Yeah.
14:57Fancy.
14:58Fancy.
15:01It's been quite some time
15:03since I've had a fast food burger.
15:05I didn't choose it.
15:06You did.
15:07Yeah, but...
15:08It's like playing the lottery.
15:10You never know what you're going to win.
15:1326 years ago,
15:14you didn't know what you were winning.
15:17Really?
15:18That's better.
15:19Oh, I have to lay on my stomach.
15:28No.
15:28Yes, I do.
15:29Come on closer.
15:31Where do you think
15:32not our kids,
15:34but just you and I
15:35will be in 10 years?
15:37In good health,
15:39you're deep into your
15:40social work career,
15:42and I'm making a lot of headway
15:44and doing well
15:45with my golf business,
15:47Papa Golf.
15:47You know,
15:49you think about
15:49what has gone on
15:51over the past 10 years.
15:53I mean,
15:54Alex was 8
15:5510 years ago,
15:57and what would that have been?
15:59Start in the third grade?
16:01As long as all the kids
16:02stay in Forsyth
16:03and everybody's pretty much local,
16:04I know Alex is going to
16:06end up moving to
16:07Ohio, probably.
16:10I found out last week
16:11that, you know,
16:12their plans is
16:13to be engaged, like,
16:15the next year or so,
16:16be married by the time
16:18she's 22,
16:19and, you know,
16:20he's moving to Ohio.
16:21Let's play true or false,
16:23everyone.
16:24Alex,
16:25your mom said
16:25your plan with Allie
16:26is to get engaged
16:28in the next year or so,
16:30and you will move
16:31and work on the farm.
16:32Is that true or false?
16:35That statement is true
16:36because Allie has mentioned
16:38those ideas to me
16:39quite a few times now,
16:41so I would say
16:42that statement's true.
16:43Elizabeth and Bryce
16:44and Leighton
16:45are definitely staying.
16:47Liz and Bryce,
16:49you know,
16:49I definitely think
16:50wedding bells
16:51will be going off
16:52next year.
16:53True or false,
16:54you two will get married
16:55in the next year.
16:57To be determined.
16:59I would say
17:00it'll be true or false.
17:01I would say
17:02probably true or false.
17:05We'll just have to see.
17:06I think Jonah and Ashley
17:08probably won't get married
17:08until Jonah's probably 30.
17:11True or false?
17:12Jonah won't get married
17:13until he's 30.
17:15That's definitely false
17:16because I've talked
17:18with Ashley about,
17:19you know,
17:20stuff in life
17:21and what she is ready for,
17:23and she definitely
17:24wants it soon.
17:26I think I'll let you know
17:27if I'm 30 yet
17:28and not married.
17:32Oh, God.
17:33Are you ready
17:33to pack up our...
17:36Yes.
17:36I have one more card.
17:38One more card?
17:40One more pick.
17:44I can see.
17:48It's the same damn thing.
17:50I either get
17:51tiny big daddy time
17:53or I get big big daddy time.
17:55How do you see them, folks?
17:56Because I can see.
18:00I'll go for the big one.
18:02Big is always better.
18:04Well, if it starts off
18:05a little, it ends up big.
18:07In most cases.
18:08So the date
18:10was
18:12created like it was for me,
18:16but really, truly,
18:18it was for you.
18:18No, it was for us.
18:20There's no me in it.
18:21That was very cute, man.
18:24You get like
18:25two hours with me
18:26in a romantic park
18:28with a cheeseburger.
18:29I get two minutes
18:30with you in the backseat
18:31of a SUV.
18:34Just think,
18:35another 26 years,
18:37we'll be...
18:3852 years married.
18:40Yes.
18:40Good laugh.
18:42And so that means that...
18:44um,
18:45yeah.
18:46Woo.
18:47We'll be old.
18:54Alex,
18:55come here.
18:56What?
18:57Can you help me make
18:57some dumplings?
18:59Sure.
19:00I don't think
19:00that's a choice.
19:01I got the recipe.
19:01So Emma and I
19:02are doing some prep
19:03for Thanksgiving
19:04by making the dumplings.
19:05And later,
19:06Dad is going to take
19:07Jonah, Bryce, and I
19:08out for a guy's night.
19:09Peel, then grate,
19:11or finally chop
19:13half a...
19:14Ginger.
19:15Ginger, okay.
19:17Where's the ginger?
19:18I have not made
19:19dumplings before,
19:20so this will be
19:21a first time for me.
19:22This will be
19:23a first time for me
19:23making dumplings.
19:25Is this sesame oil?
19:27It's just in the label.
19:29It's not really that often
19:30that Emma and I
19:31have to cook on our own,
19:32especially when it's
19:33something new
19:33like dumpling making.
19:35Ground pork.
19:37That would be
19:37in the fridge, or...?
19:39It's in the fridge.
19:40Okay.
19:46What is that?
19:48Alex.
19:49Alex.
19:52Ew.
19:54Oh my god.
19:56I guess we have
19:56a whole duck
19:57in our fridge.
19:59A whole duck.
20:00Raw duck.
20:02It's a little
20:03scary looking.
20:04Earth pork?
20:05I think this is
20:06Jonah's doing.
20:07So I'm going to
20:08call him real quick
20:09and see what this is.
20:11Oh, this is definitely
20:12Jonah's doing.
20:13I called him up
20:14and asked him
20:14about the duck.
20:18I think that's
20:19everything we need.
20:20Hello?
20:20Hey, what is up
20:21with this duck
20:22or bird
20:23in our fridge?
20:24We have a head
20:25in the fridge.
20:26Oh, yeah.
20:27I'll be right there.
20:29Operation duck
20:30is now underway.
20:32What is up
20:33with this duck
20:34in our fridge?
20:35Yeah, this is
20:36for the, uh,
20:38the, uh,
20:39Thanksgiving.
20:41I'm in charge
20:42for making, uh,
20:43the peaking duck
20:43for Thanksgiving
20:44and yesterday
20:45I salted
20:46the entire duck
20:47to let it sit
20:48in the fridge
20:49overnight.
20:50Looks interesting.
20:51Have fun
20:51doing that.
20:53We'll be making
20:53the duck ones.
20:54Here, I'm going to
20:54give you some space.
20:56I'm going to apply
20:56honey on it
20:57to, uh,
20:58give it a more
20:59sweeter flavor.
21:00Yeah.
21:00Like going with
21:01the green part,
21:02this part.
21:03We have had
21:04peaking duck
21:05before in
21:06Asian restaurants.
21:07I don't believe
21:07we ever had it
21:08while we were
21:09in China.
21:10We saw it
21:11all the time,
21:12but we just
21:12never got it.
21:13But it makes sense
21:15for an Asian
21:16Thanksgiving.
21:17Just make sure
21:17you wash your hands
21:18before and after
21:18you mess with
21:19the pork.
21:20Hello?
21:20Hello.
21:27So, in order
21:30to make a dumpling,
21:31you have to, like,
21:32put the filling
21:32into the wrapper,
21:33then you have to, like,
21:34wet the edges
21:35so it can stick together.
21:37And once you fold
21:38the two edges together,
21:39you kind of have to, like,
21:40pleat the, like,
21:42the side of the dumpling
21:43and you just keep
21:44doing that same process
21:45over and over
21:46until you're out
21:46of filling or wrappers.
21:48Yeah, this needs
21:49some water.
21:50It's, like, too dry.
21:52And I just, like,
21:54fold it like that.
21:55I see.
21:56Just keep going on.
21:57I would say
21:58Emma's the dumpling queen
21:59because she excelled
22:00at folding the dumplings.
22:02I'll just cover that
22:03with saran wrap.
22:04I'm going to put those
22:05in the fridge,
22:05probably get out of the fridge
22:06because those won't fit.
22:08We've made enough
22:09dumplings for everybody
22:10and, fingers crossed,
22:12tomorrow when we cook them,
22:13they'll taste good.
22:15We'll cook them
22:15in the morning.
22:27Alex, have you ever
22:28shot pool?
22:29No, I don't think I have.
22:31Well, tonight,
22:32I can say we're
22:33in the doghouse.
22:35Mm-hmm.
22:36Me and Jonah
22:38and Bryce can get
22:39snockered and Alex
22:39can drive us all home.
22:41Tonight,
22:42Alex and Jonah
22:44and Bryce
22:44and me
22:45are having a guys' night
22:47out at the pool hall.
22:48Y'all want to play pool?
22:59Yeah.
23:01Y'all want to eat first
23:02or play a little bit?
23:04Play a little bit.
23:06Pretty cool
23:06finally being old enough
23:07to be included
23:08into, like,
23:08an adult guy's night.
23:10Eight ball goes in the middle.
23:12Into that floor.
23:14Put the one
23:15and then you'll make it tight
23:16and we can't reach it.
23:18Have you ever played pool?
23:22I don't think I have.
23:24Yeah, it's gonna be not.
23:25So tonight will be
23:27my first time playing pool
23:28and we'll just,
23:29we'll just see how it goes.
23:34All right,
23:35so we didn't drop a ball.
23:36We'll play eight ball.
23:39How I've always played pool,
23:41what you're trying to do
23:42is you're trying to get
23:43all of your balls
23:44strapped for solids
23:46and the holes
23:48before the other team.
23:51The eight ball
23:52is the last one
23:53you're gonna get to
23:54and whoever gets
23:55the eight ball in first
23:55wins.
23:57See, like, right here?
23:59I could do that,
24:00but I can't reach it.
24:02Come over here.
24:02So I can take this bridge.
24:04The bridge is a stick.
24:07In the average height world,
24:08it gets used a lot
24:09for shots that
24:10may be awkwardly positioned
24:12on the table,
24:13but in the LP world,
24:15we tend to use it
24:16a lot more often
24:16because of the height
24:18of the table.
24:23We're strapped.
24:24You're all solids.
24:26Slow.
24:26Go slow.
24:27Slow.
24:28Put your hand on the table.
24:29Alex is good at
24:34anything with robotics,
24:37anything that requires
24:39modding video games,
24:41camera work.
24:45What is Alex not good at?
24:47Yeah, the answer is pool.
24:51There you go.
24:52Good.
24:53I am not good
24:54at shooting pool.
24:55Suck at it.
24:56I don't play around people
24:58because I'm horrible.
24:59Like, I'm the one that, like,
25:00I'll do it,
25:00and then, like,
25:01I just don't hit anything.
25:02Yeah, no.
25:03Are you good at
25:04any other bar games?
25:05I'm good at darts,
25:07weirdly,
25:08because, like,
25:08it's hard for little people
25:10because it's higher,
25:11you know,
25:11but I'm actually good
25:12at darts,
25:13and I'm definitely
25:14good at beer pong.
25:18Bryce is going to
25:19turn it on now.
25:20He's been letting us sleep.
25:21He makes it so hard.
25:22He ain't going to bother us.
25:25Did you shoot pool
25:26like you do deer this year?
25:28There we go.
25:28All right.
25:30Remember,
25:30I'm your ride home.
25:33I would say
25:34I am pretty good at pool.
25:36I did have a pool table
25:38at my parents' house.
25:42So, look.
25:47Go in the hole.
25:50Let's go.
25:51Good game.
25:53Bryce came back
25:54and beat us.
25:54That was good.
25:55Bryce gets to walk home.
25:58It does feel pretty good
25:59to be included
26:00in the Johnston guys night.
26:03Let's eat.
26:06Anytime I would get
26:08this opportunity,
26:08I'm taking it.
26:09He loves the bros.
26:13Around this way
26:13just a little bit.
26:15Alex, you ever been
26:16in a place like this?
26:17I don't think so.
26:18I'm finally old enough
26:19to come in a place
26:20like this now.
26:21When you go home tonight,
26:22just tell your mom
26:23you only smoke two cigarettes
26:24and drink one beer.
26:26I will.
26:28Don't tell her that.
26:28No, no, I won't.
26:29Jesus.
26:31Part of being out here,
26:33it's a good time
26:33to ask Bryce,
26:34but hey,
26:35let's hear some real information.
26:38Give me the deeps.
26:40When are you getting married?
26:43Or I should have said,
26:44when are either one
26:45or are you getting married?
26:50Eventually.
26:51Yeah.
26:52Eventually.
26:53I definitely would go to say
26:54it's not a race to the altar.
26:57When the time's ready,
26:58the time's ready.
26:59If you guys were to guess,
27:00it would be first,
27:01second,
27:02who's third?
27:03Of course, first,
27:04me and Elizabeth,
27:05then Joe and Ashley,
27:07then Alex and Ellie.
27:08Yeah.
27:08Mm-hmm.
27:1026 years of marriage,
27:11only thing I can tell you
27:12is fight and don't fix anything.
27:15There's a difference
27:15between a fuss and a fight.
27:17Fussing is, you know,
27:18you're having a disagreement
27:19and you don't want to do something
27:21or she wants to do something.
27:23You know, it's just,
27:23it's a disagreement
27:24and it's a fuss.
27:26And whenever you're fussing,
27:26you call your buddies up
27:27and you say,
27:28let's go to the doghouse
27:29and shoot pool.
27:32You know what mom would do?
27:34Mom would pull up out front
27:35and honk the horn.
27:36Yeah, she would.
27:44Emma, we have to watch
27:46that that stays red.
27:50Today is Thanksgiving
27:51and we are having
27:52our Thanksgiving this year
27:54with an Asian player.
27:56Oh, sorry.
27:57Are you good?
27:58Layton is playing
27:59until we're ready for food.
28:01I'll take a sniff.
28:02I'm good.
28:03Sorry,
28:04I just don't like eyeballs.
28:06Everybody's helping prep the meal.
28:08You know,
28:08Anna will not be joining.
28:10The tension
28:11and the animosity
28:13between the siblings
28:15and Anna,
28:16you know,
28:16it's not worth
28:18having Anna come in
28:20and have,
28:21you know,
28:22everyone walk around
28:23on eggshells
28:24just so she can be there.
28:35All right, mama.
28:35Today, I'm spending Thanksgiving
28:41with my two kids,
28:42Marley and Kruiser,
28:43and I am making
28:45my Nana's signature side
28:48for the holidays,
28:49which is pear salad,
28:50and we are going
28:51to watch the Thanksgiving parade.
28:56So this is how you make
28:58pear salad.
28:59You just get a can of pears,
29:01put like a tablespoon
29:03of mayonnaise
29:05in the whole
29:06of the pear.
29:09At least I'm not
29:10eating this lettuce
29:11because I don't know
29:11if you're supposed
29:12to wash it.
29:18And then put
29:18shredded cheese
29:19on top of the mayonnaise.
29:23Now, this is such
29:24a weird combination
29:25if you think about it.
29:28And then you eat it,
29:29and then give some
29:30to your dogs.
29:32You make me wanna.
29:33I'm spending Thanksgiving
29:35alone, obviously,
29:36and I wanted to kind of
29:37have like a little
29:38like family in me,
29:40and Nana always
29:41would make this side,
29:43so I wanted just
29:43to at least make this side.
29:45Pear salad.
29:46Trent grew up with it.
29:47I did not.
29:48I learned to be okay
29:50with it when I married Trent.
29:53When I was growing up,
29:54and I come into the kitchen,
29:55it was time to eat,
29:56and we had,
29:56mama had a pear salad made.
29:58I knew it was a fancy
29:59nighter.
29:59We had company coming over.
30:01I never ate like that.
30:02That's just the most
30:03horrifying combination
30:04that you could ever
30:04come up with.
30:05If you had a leaf of
30:06romaine, a pear,
30:09a little mayonnaise blob,
30:10some shredded cheese,
30:11and a cherry on top of it,
30:13you know the preacher
30:13was coming.
30:14Yeah.
30:17Right.
30:17We're watching the parade.
30:18We're not paying
30:19to dish my food.
30:19Sit down.
30:20So we're coming
30:28on to the holiday seasons,
30:30which is probably the worst
30:31when you and your family
30:33are not on top of any terms.
30:35I'm just looking forward
30:36to getting holidays over with
30:38and moving on to the next year.
30:41Nope.
30:42You weren't good?
30:44You about ate it off the plate?
30:46Mm-mm.
30:47Yes, one day I hope
30:49like this is resolved,
30:50but I'm happy
30:51with my Thanksgiving plans.
30:52I'm spending it
30:52with both my dogs
30:53and I'm watching
30:54the Thanksgiving parade.
30:56Easy.
30:58That's all done.
31:00Enough for y'all.
31:14Oh, that does not look like
31:16Rigby.
31:16Where's eyeballs?
31:18Right there.
31:19Oh.
31:21That duck got him
31:23a suntan.
31:25I can eat this whole rice.
31:29I'm just kidding.
31:30We had steamed rice,
31:33fried rice.
31:34You have to have both rices.
31:35We had dumplings,
31:37we had lo mein,
31:39and then we had the duck.
31:42Okay.
31:43How much longer?
31:45Five minutes.
31:46Got it.
31:47The fish was still on the grill.
31:50It was having to finish up,
31:51so it was going to come later
31:52because we didn't want
31:54all of our food
31:54to get super cold.
31:56And then,
31:56can you get a few forks
31:58because I don't want to...
31:59Oh, lame.
32:00You got to use chopsticks.
32:02Really?
32:02Yeah.
32:03Okay.
32:03This is the Chinese Thanksgiving.
32:05Okay.
32:06Chopsticks only.
32:07Okay.
32:09Emma is very adamant
32:10that all of us use chopsticks
32:11because it is an Asian Thanksgiving,
32:13particularly a Chinese Thanksgiving,
32:15and she always uses chopsticks
32:17when we are eating
32:18any type of Asian food.
32:21Even if it's ramen noodles
32:23as a little package,
32:24she uses chopsticks.
32:25So, you know what?
32:26I'm like,
32:26hey, no,
32:27we need to try it out.
32:31We can work on,
32:32you know,
32:32our chopstick etiquette.
32:34Dad, we're doing chopsticks.
32:40Yeah.
32:40We're doing this Asian...
32:41There's chopsticks outside.
32:42We're doing chopsticks.
32:43Everyone's chopsticks only.
32:45This is Chinese Thanksgiving.
32:46Oh, yeah.
32:47Okay, I'm going to do
32:48a four-tail spoon.
32:50We should be eating with chopsticks.
32:53Technically, Asians
32:53don't celebrate Thanksgiving
32:54in my bed.
32:56But we have Asian food, so...
32:59Then you want...
33:00No, Emma says
33:01we have to use chopsticks.
33:02Okay.
33:03I just told him that,
33:04but he's not going to listen.
33:06And we need a place for plates,
33:07so...
33:08So get rid of those.
33:09Because if you don't have
33:10these accessible,
33:11then it'll make you
33:12learn how to use these.
33:13Chopsticks, yes.
33:14Yes.
33:15If they are expecting me
33:16to use chopsticks,
33:18it's going to be a light meal,
33:19and I feel a great big bowl
33:20of cereal this evening
33:21coming on.
33:34So let's go ahead and fix plates.
33:39Do you want lo mein?
33:40Sure.
33:41Today is Thanksgiving,
33:43but with a twist,
33:45we're doing a Chinese-themed
33:46Thanksgiving.
33:48What the heck?
33:49What the heck?
33:54Oh, there we go.
33:55Oh.
33:55Oh.
33:55There we go.
33:56Who wants a drumstick?
33:58I'll do a drumstick.
33:59Or a duckstick.
33:59Or the wing,
34:04whatever this is.
34:04Carving the duck
34:05was pretty awkward.
34:07Out of 48 Thanksgiving,
34:10I've never had a turkey
34:11look at me.
34:13But this duck is
34:15dead and present.
34:17And that doesn't make sense.
34:18But today,
34:19this duck is on our table,
34:21he's dead,
34:22and he's present.
34:27Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.
34:29Happy Thanksgiving.
34:30It's a little bit different
34:31this year.
34:32It's a little bit different
34:32this year, but it's just...
34:34It's got a little Asian
34:35flair to it.
34:36As normal tradition,
34:37let's go around the table
34:38and say what we're thankful for.
34:40Baba first.
34:42Yep.
34:42Baba just dropped
34:43all the...
34:45What we're thankful for
34:46all year or like right now?
34:48However you want to...
34:49Yeah, that's up to you.
34:51Right now,
34:52look here.
34:54Oh, jeez.
34:55No!
35:01Told you.
35:02He's going to be like
35:02thankful for forks,
35:03knives, and spoons.
35:04The pilgrim's carved
35:05a spook forks to use.
35:08You better fact check that.
35:09I just made that up.
35:12Well, he is very much
35:14known for cheating.
35:16I'm also very much
35:17known for ingenuity
35:19and figuring things out
35:20to make it easier
35:20such as a fork.
35:25All right.
35:25I am super grateful
35:27for our family.
35:29Thankful that
35:30I believe I've landed
35:32an internship
35:34for my master's degree.
35:37Thank God
35:37because I need that
35:38to graduate.
35:39I'm super thankful
35:41to have the best daughter
35:43in the world
35:43and I'm super thankful
35:45for Elizabeth.
35:46So I'm obviously
35:49thankful for Liz and Bryce
35:50for making me an uncle
35:51and giving us
35:52a beautiful niece.
35:53And I'm thankful
35:53that for my girlfriend,
35:55Allie,
35:55and that she went through
35:56her surgery really well.
35:58Like, she took recovery
35:59really well
35:59and she's already
36:00making really good progress.
36:02Straight leg club.
36:03Straight leg club.
36:04Yeah.
36:04So Allie has had
36:05her corrective leg surgery
36:06and I've been up
36:07at the hospital
36:08many times to visit her.
36:09Corrective leg surgery,
36:11it's basically where
36:11like they work
36:12on her ankles
36:12and like they
36:13straighten her legs out
36:14so she can walk
36:15not in any pain
36:16and Liz and I
36:17have had the surgery
36:18in the past before.
36:20I'm thankful
36:20for all the doctors
36:21and nurses
36:21at the hospital
36:21for taking care
36:22of her too, so.
36:24There I am.
36:28I'm thankful for this
36:29Asian food right here.
36:32Thankful for all of y'all.
36:33I'm thankful for
36:35y'all two making Layton
36:36for me becoming an aunt.
36:38What else are you
36:39thankful for, girl?
36:41Boyfriend, oh wait.
36:42Oh.
36:42Oh.
36:44For who?
36:45Peace.
36:47Brights even chuckled.
36:49During this Thanksgiving dinner,
36:51we should not be talking
36:53about dating and love life
36:55because we're eating Chinese food
36:58and that's all we're thinking of.
37:01I'm thankful for family,
37:03of course,
37:04that is defaulted every year.
37:05But yeah, it's been good.
37:07Hey, Joan,
37:08I want you to check on the fish.
37:10Yeah, we do.
37:11And they're thankful
37:12for the fish.
37:13Yeah.
37:14Shout.
37:14I'm just writing down this
37:15so I can hear
37:16what y'all are saying.
37:18Okay.
37:18I'm thankful for having
37:19a healthy and beautiful
37:20baby girl.
37:22I am thankful for the,
37:23I guess,
37:24the opportunities we've had
37:25with kind of sort of
37:26figuring out
37:26how to purchase a home.
37:28Just, you know,
37:28hopefully to get one
37:29by the end of the year
37:30would be great.
37:30We have put in an offer
37:32on a house
37:33that Bryce and I
37:34both really like
37:35and think Layton
37:36will absolutely love,
37:37but we don't want
37:38to get our hopes up just yet.
37:40Just put it here
37:40because I love that.
37:43This is the first time
37:43Bryce and Jonah
37:44have done a fish
37:45on the smoker.
37:46So,
37:47not that they were slow,
37:48but they took their time
37:49to do it right.
37:51Okay,
37:51I'm actually really full
37:52right now.
37:54I don't know,
37:54I had a bite of that duck.
37:55It was very greasy.
37:56That's good.
37:57Yeah.
37:58Was it good?
37:59Yeah.
38:00When me and Alex
38:01and Jonah and Emma
38:02were shopping
38:02at the Asian market,
38:03do you know why
38:03I grabbed that fish?
38:05Why?
38:05Because it was on top
38:06and it's the only one
38:07I could catch.
38:07Yeah,
38:07it even went headfirst
38:08into the freezer.
38:09And I do not want
38:10to be in a freezer
38:11with a bunch of frozen
38:12red snappers.
38:13That's looking at me.
38:14That is good.
38:15Good job, guys.
38:17And then obviously
38:17we have one family member
38:19that is not with us
38:21tonight on Thanksgiving
38:22and that is by her choice.
38:26Celebrating Thanksgiving
38:26this evening
38:27going around the table
38:28talking about
38:28all the things
38:29we're thankful for
38:30and the memorable times
38:32that we've had this year,
38:33we also did remember
38:34that Anna's not with us.
38:35Anna's not with us
38:36by choice of hers.
38:38Our doors and our minds
38:40and our ears
38:40are still open
38:41when Anna was
38:42going to talk to us.
38:43But we hope that
38:44things will work out
38:45this year.
38:47I mean next year.
38:49This coming year, right?
38:51The whole excuse,
38:52the door's always open.
38:53Of course,
38:54my door's always open.
38:55But if you're not wanting,
38:57if you're not showing
38:57that you want me there,
38:59why should I come?
39:06You see outside?
39:07You see the pretty things
39:08that are hanging?
39:10Oh, I just realized.
39:11We can see all of our lanterns.
39:12I thought this Asian Thanksgiving
39:18was great,
39:19but no matter the situation,
39:21where we're at
39:22and what we're doing,
39:23it's never a good thing
39:24to have one of your kids missing.
39:26We really would like
39:27to resolve this,
39:28but it's not going to be easy.
39:30I think Amber and I need
39:37to try to reach out to Anna
39:38to try once again
39:42to have a conversation.
39:44Where do we see ourselves
39:45this time next year?
39:46Hopefully in a house.
39:47Next time on
39:52Seven Little Johnstons.
39:53We are taking
39:55our family Christmas photo.
39:58We're walking all the way
39:59to Bethlehem
39:59to take this photo.
40:01This was overall
40:02my mother's idea,
40:03and we are all just being
40:05good sports
40:05and going with it.
40:07I gotta go to my garage
40:08because I have a
40:09little side surprise
40:11for y'all.
40:11What in the world?
40:14Oh my gosh.
40:16Is that a goat?
40:20Well, since we're all
40:21here tonight,
40:22our little crew trio
40:24right here
40:24has some big news
40:25to share.
40:26Oh gosh.
40:27Baby number two.
40:27What is it?
40:28No.
40:29No.
40:29No.
40:30Let's not.
40:30Well, we finally made it
40:33to close on the house.
40:34Awesome.
40:35That's great.
40:35Congratulations.
40:37Good job, guys.
40:38I'm going to say
40:38I am a super,
40:40super, super excited
40:42to be able to finally
40:44move out
40:45our own now.
40:50What can I got?
40:52Not for you.
40:53For me.
40:54Oops.
40:54Today I am having
40:56a Christmas photo shoot
40:57for my social media.
40:59Looks like you're ready
40:59to go.
41:01Seriously?
41:03Seriously?
41:04So this will be
41:05my first year
41:06spending Christmas
41:07without my family.
41:10Come here, Mama.
41:10Smile.
41:12We can't put things
41:14on hold
41:15and just not do them
41:16because Anna doesn't
41:17want to be a part of it.
41:18It's just unfortunate
41:19that family is
41:21sometimes the way
41:23families are.
