00:00Previously on Seven Little Johnstons.
00:03Y'all know I had an MRI for some of my head issues.
00:06My symptoms started last year.
00:08I got up one morning and just majorly had vertigo.
00:12My brain has reduced drastically and it's about the size for an 80, 81-year-old.
00:17My first emotion was worry.
00:19The other description was...
00:20Possibilities.
00:21Possibilities, but less likely.
00:23Less likely.
00:24Of MS, multiple sclerosis.
00:26It is shocking and it is concerning.
00:28There is fear.
00:32We have a newborn in the house now along with five kids.
00:37Layton is turning four months old and that is a huge milestone for us.
00:42Oh my God, it smells brutal.
00:44We are going to let her try solid food for the first time.
00:48What is she doing?
00:51Hello.
00:52Hey.
00:52It's been about a month since my dad has passed away.
00:55I thought it would be good to go over to Heidi's to talk about a plan for mom.
01:01When was the last time you talked to her?
01:02I talk to her almost every day.
01:04I think she's lonely.
01:06She realizes that she's in that home by herself now.
01:08She's going to be needing to make some changes.
01:13Emma Lee Johnston.
01:14This is it.
01:16Our two youngest, Alex and Emma.
01:18They're our last two to graduate high school.
01:22Woohoo!
01:22Woohoo!
01:23We did it!
01:24We did it!
01:24Next we have Miss Amber Johnston.
01:26Woo!
01:27And Amber and Anna are graduating from college.
01:33Bye.
01:34Better late than never.
01:35Better late than never.
01:36Stay salty.
01:37The shirt that she showed up in, stay salty.
01:40I guess that's her mood.
01:41Everything has hit between graduating and family issues.
01:46So what have you been up to, Anna?
01:47We don't see you or hear from you.
01:49I'm not sure what's going on with Anna right now.
01:51She doesn't want to be a part of the family.
01:53She's angry with the family, upset with the family.
01:55It's just a bunch of random things that just keep piling up.
01:58I'm brushing this off until they can come up to me and talk to me without arguing.
02:03See, Elise?
02:04Yep.
02:04Trent and I will never give up on our children, but we won't give in.
02:26Come on.
02:29You want to eat?
02:30This summer, I really have not done much besides hang out with friends and work because bills
02:36don't stop.
02:38I am a patient care accountant for an orthopedics office, so just take care of orthopedic orders.
02:47You can go outside.
02:52Come on.
02:52So I've been dating someone for about eight months now, and it's going good, and we are both really, really happy.
02:58My boyfriend is named Darius, but everybody calls him D2.
03:02He is a twin, and his brother is obviously D1.
03:06And we pretty much spend every second together.
03:11We enjoy just being around each other and hanging out and doing fun things.
03:16He's very important to me, and family's important to me.
03:19So, yes, one day I do want to introduce D2 to the family.
03:23But this summer, I have been taking a break from the family.
03:29So, Ana, how long has it been since you've seen your family?
03:35So I have not seen my family for about two and a half months.
03:38What events do you think led to this boiling over point?
03:45The starting issue that led to not seeing my family for this amount of time was the graduation gown.
03:55My parents got mad at me because I took Jonah's graduation gown, and I didn't tell them.
04:01And they got mad because I didn't take graduation photos with them.
04:04It just kept getting worse than words, which led to me not even wanting to come around,
04:09and I did not go to Alex and Emma's graduation.
04:13I look back and I regret it now, but it was the fact that nobody spoke to me since then.
04:19So, I mean, why show up and come and act like everything's fine?
04:27So we had all of these issues around graduation.
04:31But actually, where it really started was a few months before that,
04:36Ana was supposed to be giving an underage girl a ride back to our home.
04:40And instead, she took her out to a bar, bought her alcohol, got her intoxicated.
04:46And then when she gets caught and she gets in trouble, she's mad at us.
04:50When that incident happened, I was still coming around to family.
04:55I thought we squashed it.
04:56I thought we worked it out.
04:57But then they decided they wanted to get mad at me, and so they brought that back up.
05:03So following graduation, the entire family, including everyone's significant other,
05:09were scheduled to take a trip to Puerto Rico.
05:11Ana was invited.
05:12However, she backed out at the last minute and did not go.
05:15The decision of me not going was for my mental health.
05:18I did not want to go on a family vacation, and there would be just toxic tension.
05:24Trent and I ate the price of a very expensive round-trip ticket to Puerto Rico.
05:29The underage drinking incident, along with her behaviors and her attitude towards the family,
05:36is what has led to all of the drama and the tension with the family now.
05:42For now, I am focusing on my work, my dogs, my life, and things that I can control.
05:51I have no idea how things are going to work out with my family, but, I mean, at this point, I don't know.
06:00Moving forward, Amber and I will say, and we will keep saying,
06:03we're not going to give up on Ana, when Ana alone wants to sit down with her mom and dad
06:09and start building this fence together, we'll do it.
06:24Hello.
06:26Welcome back.
06:27Late and sweeping.
06:29Nice.
06:31For now.
06:31We finally had Trent's long-awaited neurology appointment to get answers about his vertigo and memory issues.
06:39The results from the appointment were, you know, kind of mixed, and now it's time to tell the kids.
06:44What up?
06:44Where's everybody else?
06:46I don't know.
06:47I knew my dad was going to a neurologist, but if I don't know, as a family, that we're discussing,
06:53like, my dad's health, then I can't come, because I don't know.
06:58It went out, and the family texts, and Ana chose not to show up.
07:02I just have to sit right here just in case she wakes up.
07:05So it's been, you know, a very anxious couple of months, because we've had to wait for this neurology appointment,
07:11you know, get some answers on actually what is going on with my dad's head.
07:14You know, there was a possibility that my dad could have MS, and that was kind of like a woe factor,
07:21because that's a pretty big medical diagnosis.
07:24I must admit I am a little bit nervous, but I still must feel positive about it too, about it for dad, so.
07:29Yeah.
07:29Obviously, we know something's there.
07:32We just don't know what it is, and what to rule out, and what to prepare for, so that's what's got all of us kind of nervous.
07:41Well, how'd it go?
07:42What?
07:44Um, two biggest things that I guess I was worried about was there is no MS, no signs of MS.
07:56And there's no sign of a concussion or head trauma, severe head trauma.
08:04Um, they did see what they call white brain matter.
08:08No, white matter disease.
08:12White matter, yes, excuse me.
08:14White matter disease is basically dead brain tissue from lack of oxygen.
08:20White matter disease can cause a whole host of symptoms, the top three being, you know, memory loss, dizziness, and incontinence.
08:29When we told you guys about, like, the size of my brain for a 48-year-old versus a 81-year-old, um, that is still...
08:39They validated that?
08:41Yes.
08:41Yes, that is the case.
08:42I have had some form of sleep apnea my entire life, and I have not been using a CPAP machine at night.
08:49I felt like I was sleeping fine and waking up and living life and going to work and being productive, so I just didn't need it.
08:56You know, at 48 years old and not treating my sleep apnea with a CPAP machine, this is definitely the contributing factor to white matter disease.
09:06I mean, Dad can't get it back, but Dad can prevent it from getting worse.
09:12I guess it's a little bit of a relief that it's not multiple sclerosis, but it also kind of sucks because there's no reverse to it.
09:19There's no really getting rid of it.
09:21I must admit, I was feeling a little bit nervous for Dad about this whole white matter disease.
09:26Basically, like, parts of his brain are basically dying.
09:28And since Jonah and I both have that same apnea, that makes me nervous for myself and Jonah.
09:33At y'all's age, in your late teens and early 20s, I'm an example of what can happen later.
09:41Sleep apnea is very prevalent in individuals with achyterplasia.
09:45Like, our head and our face and just the, like, where the sinuses are and things, everything is very warfed.
09:54It is smaller.
09:55It is tighter.
09:56There is that less room for air to pass.
10:01There's two other individuals in this household that needs to sleep with a CPAP, so are we going to be training them all three together?
10:06Jonah and Alex both have obstructive sleep apnea, and neither of them use their CPAP machines regularly.
10:14Obviously, if you don't use the CPAP machine and you continue this way, the brain damage will continue, and ultimately, you're signing yourself up for early stages of dementia.
10:23Increasing your risk for later life diseases.
10:24Things like that, and, of course, heart failure.
10:27The guys are hesitant on, you know, wearing sleep apnea mask, but, you know, I am ordering several different kinds based on each of their sleeping positions.
10:39My biggest challenge is just to get used to the CPAP machine.
10:45I need to make this CPAP machine a part of my life and my lifestyle.
10:50I'm going to go change my clothes in the bathroom and the shower.
10:53It will ultimately end up saving my life.
10:57Love you guys.
10:58Love you.
11:00Coming up on Seven Little Johnstons, I've ordered some new CPAP masks for all three men in our family.
11:07We should do a fashion show with these on.
11:09I couldn't picture any of the Johnston men being models.
11:17Hi, Marley.
11:18And later.
11:19The graduation gown coming to the house when you knew we wasn't at home and going through the closet.
11:23I'm calling Stephanie right now.
11:25Call her.
11:25I don't think it's so rude.
11:26You just told me, damn it, that you could call her.
11:28I've been through this with arguing about parents since high school.
11:31There's a lot of stuff I'm not opening up that have happened in the past.
11:34A lot of stuff you're not going to open up when you're guilty and you're at fault.
11:36Onda tends to bend the truth, not be truthful, lie.
11:41Okay, then I'll walk out right now.
11:54Hello.
11:56Go ahead and head straight to the back.
11:57All right, nice pool.
12:00Yes, ma'am.
12:02Today is Layton's first swim lesson and I am super nervous.
12:06My parents have a pool, her parents have a pool.
12:08Yeah, so this is all about safety.
12:11You're going to go swimming.
12:12Layton is nine months old now and she's growing up fast.
12:15Layton has definitely been learning how to crawl.
12:19She is all about noises and playing and she's trying to figure out how to stand on both feet.
12:24Yeah.
12:27It's been pretty hilarious to watch.
12:30I wonder how the water feels.
12:32Bryce and I, I mean, I guess you could say we've been okay.
12:35Adjusting to parent life is, you know, definitely different.
12:38I think the hardest thing from pretty much going to boyfriend-girlfriend straight into parenthood
12:44has been prioritizing our time to spend time together when we're not around Layton.
12:50And we tend to take that time to sleep or nap, but we have to spend time together to keep
12:55our relationship going.
12:57That was a struggle in the beginning.
13:00Where do you stand now on proposing to Liz and getting married?
13:04Who?
13:08So where I stand now proposing to Elizabeth, it's just, I definitely plan on doing it for sure.
13:20I was just going to give it a little bit more time.
13:22I'm not saying it's going to be like a terribly long time, but the time will get here when it gets here.
13:28I would love to marry Bryce someday, but him and I have agreed for right now, our biggest focus is on Layton.
13:37But today we jokingly call each other husband and wife, so.
13:41This is a layer of protection for sure.
13:44There's many layers, like you were saying, with fences and door alarms and all of the things.
13:48But this is definitely a good one since she's getting mobile.
13:51So what we will do with her for this lesson will be the rollback to float.
13:55The method that the swim instructor is trying to teach her is the rollback method.
14:01So say if Layton was to accidentally slip and to fall in the pool,
14:04she knows to swim up and flip over on her back to keep herself and her airway open.
14:09Once she gets to where she's starting to walk, we'll start teaching her to actually swim.
14:14I have never worked with a little person regarding swimming lessons or anything like that.
14:19Hi.
14:21Since Layton is average size, it should be easier for her to learn.
14:24I'm ready to float, sweetie.
14:27It is more challenging to teach LP children to swim.
14:31Many of us have challenges and difficulties in floating.
14:35Emma and Alex, they underwent swimming lessons, but they were 9, 10 years old.
14:39And so they were a little taller and able to, you know, kind of get the floating technique.
14:46All right.
14:46You want to let go of my fingers and do it?
14:47So Alex, you can do it for you.
14:48Mom wants to still know how to swim because she's tired of me drowning at the deep end.
14:54And me.
14:55Good job.
14:56I think one of my swim lessons, I think, was like a toss method where they toss in normal circumstances.
15:02A child would rise to the surface and I never floated back up.
15:05My head was too heavy.
15:08The lifeguard at the time, like, oh, yeah.
15:12A lot of this is most babies have been held or in floats.
15:16And so we want her to discover her own buoyancy.
15:19I'm completely nervous.
15:21I'm not ready to see my child in the water.
15:27That's a big girl.
15:31When Layton is in the water with Miss Amelia, she's kicking, she's screaming, she's red-faced, she's hiccuping.
15:38Just seeing her scream like that, I mean, yeah, I mean, it kind of makes me a little sad.
15:42But, you know, I try to get over it.
15:45It's just something that we're going to have to get used to and for her to get used to.
15:49All done for today, sweet pea.
15:52Good job, Layton.
15:53You did amazing.
15:55It was really hard watching Layton cry throughout her swim lesson.
15:58What?
15:59You did so good.
16:02Well, thank you so much again.
16:04We appreciate it.
16:05But in the back of my head, you know, I just keep reminding myself that this is going to be worth it for Layton, keeping her safe.
16:11It's okay.
16:19Would you go grab the package?
16:24Because I think some of the CPAP masks were delivered on the front porch.
16:29Following Trent's neurology appointment, I've ordered some new CPAP masks for all three men in our family.
16:36And I ordered three different styles, thinking about each individual and their face structure and how they sleep.
16:47You just put this under you?
16:49Yeah.
16:49I don't think I can wear any of those masks because I move a lot in my sleep.
16:55Both.
16:56I know.
16:58It kind of is a little claustrophobic.
16:59I officially started college and I'm doing online classes and I'm majoring in psychology.
17:08So for my last prom, I went with one of my good friends, Hai.
17:12Main, Hai are just friends.
17:14I'm single and I'm not interested in dating right now.
17:17This summer, we went to Puerto Rico as a family.
17:21People brought their girlfriends and boyfriends.
17:23Definitely not me, but since Puerto Rico, Ashley and I have been really close.
17:28I just took Jonah's girlfriend.
17:30Oopsies.
17:31I mean, it happens.
17:33During the trip, Emma and Ashley definitely bonded and had a lot of fun together, which
17:38was nice because, you know, Emma ultimately was kind of bummed through all the stuff that
17:43Anna's been doing.
17:44So how has it been the past summer?
17:46She's been very separate from the rest of your family.
17:49I mean, it's definitely affected me a lot since we used to be very close.
17:53I've tried to reach out to her.
17:55I know the things she's done, the graduation, she didn't ever attend that.
18:01She just never attended any, like, family things.
18:04There's ways you can apologize to all of us and fix it, but she's just not doing it.
18:08I think we should do a fashion show with these on.
18:13Like, the boys should put these on and model them for us.
18:19Yeah?
18:20Yeah.
18:20Do, like, the whole runway thing, have them come walking out.
18:24It'll excite them to want to wear their CPAP every night.
18:29Hopefully.
18:30So, you go rally them up.
18:33I will write out the description for each model.
18:35I have tried CPAP masks in the past.
18:38I just don't like sleeping with something that big on my face.
18:41I stopped wearing a mask because it got in the way, and I'm a stomach sleeper.
18:46So this one's yours, Alex.
18:47So this summer, I've enjoyed, like, being out of high school.
18:51I've been hanging out with my friends a lot.
18:53Allie and I's relationship has been going really well.
18:56We've been dating for about two years now, and she came to Puerto Rico with us, so that
18:59was a blast.
19:01You're having this one.
19:03I don't even know how to wear this.
19:05And then that, this one's yours.
19:07We're gonna do a fashion show with these masks.
19:10Why does mine have an elephant trunk?
19:13I don't know.
19:14You need the most air.
19:14This summer has been great.
19:18You know, I've been busy with work, working 40 to 50 hours a week.
19:22That's the nature of the car business.
19:24I'm lucky enough to have Ashley around.
19:25We've been doing really well, and the fact that she has summers off because she's a teacher
19:30allows us to spend time together and go on trips.
19:32And now it looks like I'm gonna be a model for a CPAP mask.
19:37What are we doing?
19:39You gotta come in here so y'all can get y'all's masks comfortable.
19:42I know Amber's intentions, and I think Amber wants me to wear this mask just as much as
19:48I know I need to, and I don't need to be irresponsible and selfish and not do it.
19:53Are you guys ready?
19:54I couldn't picture any of the Johnston men being models.
20:00I just couldn't do it.
20:02All right.
20:03Let's get this thing started.
20:05Make sure you put a lot of sass in your asses.
20:08Yes.
20:08Models have to be sassy because you have to sell it.
20:13Starting off, we have Alex modeling the full face mask.
20:19Woohoo!
20:20Get it.
20:22I'm coming out tonight.
20:26The full face mask covers both the nose and the mouth.
20:31It features the full head strap to help keep the mouth closed.
20:37Alex did good.
20:39You know, he's not that of a sassy boy, so I think he did okay.
20:44Yeah, he did okay.
20:49I would break my mask of 6 out of 10.
20:51It was just too big.
20:53Like, I have kind of like a flat nose, so finding a mask that fits my nose shape is pretty important.
20:57Like, air doesn't leak out of the mask.
20:59All right.
21:00Next up, we have Jonah modeling the nasal pillow mask.
21:06Work it, Jonah.
21:13This mask fits at the nostril to supply air pressure and is good for people who might feel claustrophobic in the full face mask.
21:22It also is perfect for Jonah who sleeps on his stomach and face.
21:29All right.
21:32Looking good.
21:34Yes.
21:34Really.
21:35Jonah.
21:36He's very funny, actually.
21:37The most sass.
21:38Yeah, he had the most humor to it.
21:41Oh, showing the muscles, too.
21:42Good job.
21:43Good job.
21:44Work it.
21:45Overall, I give a mask a 6 out of 10.
21:50The way it was designed and the total outfit of it, I think I could see me wearing it for the sole purpose of being a stomach sleeper.
21:58Closing out our show, we have Trent modeling the nasal mask.
22:05Oh, there we go.
22:06Working it very well.
22:14Okay.
22:15Similar to the nasal pillow mask, the nasal mask provides air head to nose.
22:24The nasal mask is ideal for someone who moves around in their sleep a lot at night.
22:30Dad can't lay flat.
22:32Because if dad lays flat, then we have the other issue, the vertebrae.
22:35That's not good.
22:40So dad had to, like, limit the sass.
22:44So I feel like these will work, but we need to get the three of y'all starting on these.
22:51After the fashion show, we've all agreed we're going to try this out and give it 110% because we know the importancy behind this and also the fact that it could just transition better our lifestyle.
23:04Well, thank y'all for participating in our CPAP fashion show.
23:09Do you think any of the men in your family have a future career in modeling?
23:12No.
23:14They can't.
23:15Sorry.
23:28No, no.
23:29Come in.
23:30We're here.
23:31I see you.
23:32Just like old times.
23:33I know it.
23:35So with everything going on and my health struggles and trying to keep up with the Ana situation, we also have Nana.
23:43I'm having to try to keep track of her on a weekly basis now.
23:48You doing all right?
23:49Yeah.
23:49Yeah?
23:50Yeah.
23:51Hanging in there?
23:52Yes.
23:53It's been a few months since Poppy passed away, and Heidi and I have tried to get mom and dad both to relocate years ago.
24:00But now visiting and talking with Nana about relocating and trying to convince her that she needs to be closer to us is a never-ending task.
24:10I'm good.
24:10I'm good.
24:10I have sugar.
24:11I'm good right now, really.
24:13Take it out.
24:13I can't have sugar right now.
24:14No, take it out.
24:15I'm taking medicine and I can't have sugar.
24:16You're lying.
24:17I'm not.
24:18You're lying.
24:19I'm not.
24:19Trent, you're lying.
24:20You know my name, but...
24:22I've always kept Heidi up with my health.
24:25At the same time, we have the agreement that we don't share any of this with mom.
24:30It wouldn't help her to know all this.
24:33How are you managing?
24:36I'm here.
24:37That's about all I can say is just I'm here.
24:40Does it feel different with him not being here?
24:42Yeah, it feels different.
24:43You know, even when I wake up in the morning, I'll think, all right, I'm going to lay here
24:50until I hear him rustling around and getting ready to come down the hall.
24:55Well, I'll lay there for a little bit and I'll think, why are you coming down the hall?
25:07Yeah, yeah.
25:09It's hard.
25:10I mean, I feel a loss.
25:11You know, it's a void.
25:14It's an emptiness.
25:17Especially when you think about doing something.
25:20You know, go check on Pete, see if he wants to do it.
25:23You got to turn around and come back because he ain't there no more.
25:26You know, it's little things like that that'll kind of set you back a little bit.
25:31For the last five years now, we've been trying to make plans for you and Dad on what we're going to do.
25:37Right.
25:38It's going to be better for you to move closer to us.
25:40All of this has happened so quick with Poppy dying.
25:45I'm still getting through that.
25:48But then to think about not being in this environment where I've been with him for God knows how many years, that is a whole new ballgame.
26:01Now, Heidi wants me stuck in the house with her, you know.
26:04And I like that idea, but I don't like that idea.
26:09You know, it's like a lot of times you go visit somebody.
26:12And when you first get there, you're having a real good time because you hadn't seen them in a while, right?
26:17And then the months go on, and by living there, I ain't got no place to go.
26:23So, you know, it's just different.
26:26Getting you committed and getting you...
26:28Committed.
26:29Committed to us to move.
26:34That slipped out.
26:36If you continue living like this and staying like this, you're not going to live long.
26:40Well, what am I doing so wrong that I'm getting ready to kick out of here?
26:46Well, you're keeping yourself away from others, first thing.
26:50I wouldn't if I had something to drive or if I could drive.
26:54I have no idea nor can I remember the last time Nana drove.
26:59I would say seven or eight years could be longer.
27:04This little lady drove with both feet, like a deadgum go-kart, which was always kind of scary.
27:10I don't know how she did that.
27:12You just kind of just sat there and prayed and just hope you got to your destination and back to the house.
27:17Nana driving now?
27:19Um.
27:20Um.
27:22What?
27:24I am not getting in the car with her.
27:26I wouldn't be opposed to watching it from, like, a helicopter.
27:30And if I'm in the car, that car better have a lot of airbags.
27:34You are not driving anymore, young lady.
27:38No.
27:41What happened to Daddy?
27:44What?
27:50There was a moment.
27:51Oh, my God.
27:52Briefly at the table.
27:53Right at the end.
27:54At the coffee table.
27:55I was like, wow.
27:56Where she says, where'd Poppy go?
27:59What happened to Poppy?
28:01And she's just staring.
28:02And she's, like, she's got tunnel vision.
28:05And she was like, where's Poppy?
28:06What happened to Poppy?
28:08That blue urn was over there.
28:11Oh.
28:12I said it right here.
28:13I've been looking at it for I don't know how long, being right there by the TV.
28:17And all of a sudden, I looked there and I thought, all right, Poppy's made his exit.
28:21So you put a curveball right there.
28:23She went.
28:24You ran down a tunnel vision fast.
28:26Poppy's cremation vault was sitting on the entertainment center when we walked in.
28:31At the TV.
28:31At the TV.
28:32I went and put him over on the desk where, literally, they used to sit down and pay bills
28:36and write bills.
28:37And I guess she didn't see me move it?
28:40No, she didn't.
28:41Well, thank you for coming and visiting me.
28:44You're welcome.
28:44I love you.
28:45I love you.
28:46After speaking with Nana, it does remind you how important family is.
28:51After not talking to Anna for several months now, I need to go over there and talk with
28:54her about how important it is to keep your family in your loop and to be a part of your
28:58family.
28:59And I'm hoping that she'll be receptive of this conversation and we can move forward.
29:02Tonight's the night.
29:15Every night is the night, dear.
29:18When you're sleeping with me, it is.
29:20I reminded the boys to please try to put on their CPAP mask tonight and sleep with it.
29:30So we'll see.
29:33Sexy.
29:34I wonder why mine came with this attached.
29:39Stop.
29:39You're blowing air on me.
29:40I don't like that.
29:41I'm not blowing air.
29:42It doesn't run.
29:44No, don't.
29:45Can't put it on right now.
29:47We're not going to sleep.
29:50Snorkel.
29:51Don't.
29:53We're not talking.
29:55It hurts.
29:56Yeah.
29:56So turn it off.
29:58Tonight will be the first night that the guys, you know, all wear their seats.
30:02And they will be able to compare how long each of them wore the CPAP mask throughout the night.
30:09Have you heard from Ana since we've been back from vacation?
30:13Mm-mm.
30:14Everybody has been on the family vacation to Puerto Rico, text thread.
30:18Everybody, including Ana, said, I got the time off.
30:24Buy my ticket.
30:26Ana chose on the day that we flew out to not show up.
30:29I didn't tell them I wasn't going.
30:31What should have been done is come to me and talk to me about it and work things out.
30:37And then, yeah, it would have been fine to go come around the family and do normal things with the family.
30:41They bought the plane tickets like a year ago.
30:44So, I mean, I can't help that.
30:46That was crappy on her part.
30:48But it's more so the fact that she just absolutely has nothing to do with her family.
30:53I mean, she owes her younger siblings a heartfelt apology.
30:59Not showing up to their graduation.
31:01Not even acknowledging it.
31:02It's disrespectful.
31:03I refuse to have us give in and just act like nothing ever has happened.
31:09Because here's the reason.
31:09You didn't treat us that way.
31:11It's not a matter of, well, you're the parent.
31:12You should give in.
31:13No.
31:14It hasn't worked in 15 years.
31:16Mm-hmm.
31:17It's not going to work this time.
31:20So, I've been texting and messaging with Ana the last few days to try to set up a time to come over and talk with her.
31:26Is it going to fix things?
31:27Is it going to work?
31:29It's only up to Ana.
31:31It's only up to Ana.
31:33I'm trying to find my way, find my way into the brand new days, into the brand new days.
31:48Good morning.
31:49New days.
31:50How was last night with the CPAP?
31:53I know I always woke up a couple times with the air.
31:58A nice little...
31:59I can't help that.
32:02That's how that machine works.
32:02I know.
32:03It's fine.
32:04I just face the other way.
32:06At night when we go to bed, I'm always facing her.
32:09But this little thing sits here now.
32:10Yes.
32:12It's just constant.
32:14So, I just scoot down.
32:16So, then Trent's up here, and I'm down here, and I face that way.
32:19So, now, literally, my feet...
32:21It's the first time this ever happened in my life.
32:23My feet touch the footboard.
32:25Good morning.
32:25Good morning.
32:26How was last night with the CPAP?
32:29All right.
32:30How long did your time say?
32:32I had about two and a half hours.
32:35That's not bad.
32:36What was yours?
32:3632 minutes?
32:38Me.
32:39Two.
32:39I did all right with the mask.
32:42I got about, like, two hours of sleep, but, like, there was this one point in the night
32:45where it just kind of bothered me, so I kind of just took it off just so I can get the rest
32:49of the night's sleep.
32:50I think I was able to maintain the mask on my face for a couple hours.
32:54I just kind of got irritated with it because night one, it's not, it's something that I'm
32:59not really used to.
33:00I did mine, like, eight hours and 30 minutes last night.
33:03CPAP one night was definitely better than any other night I've tried to do a CPAP machine.
33:10Now, I'm 48, I'm a lot more mature, I'm a grown man, so I made myself get through the
33:16night and win this battle.
33:19So, CPAP, I mean, I sleep fine, to me.
33:23You think you sleep fine, but you're not resting and you're not sleeping good.
33:31I think that's just what coffee's for.
33:33No, it's not.
33:34I can't force it on them, but I can talk about it and make sure they understand the importance
33:40and not look at the inconvenience.
33:43When my dad got diagnosed with the white brain matter, that really affected me and Alex,
33:48it kind of gave us a wake-up call as to if this is the solution, we've probably got to
33:53follow it too.
33:53So, like, I think we have a sense of, like, self-awareness and surroundings, so we take
33:59it, you know, a little more seriously.
34:02We've got to just continue trying, attempting, even if it's 30 minutes, an hour, two hours
34:11is better than no hours.
34:13I still have a long road ahead of me to improve my white matter disease and to continue with
34:19my CPAP machine.
34:20Hopefully, I will see some positive results for my next neurologist appointment at the
34:25end of the year.
34:26Moving forward, the game plan is we'll continue with the mask that we have for a little bit
34:31longer.
34:31If you, you know, really notice some differences, then we'll order some different masks.
34:37We can have another fashion show.
34:40Oh, God.
34:41No.
34:44I make no apologies, whoa, hey, ho, hey, ho.
34:52I make no apologies, whoa, hey, ho, hey, ho.
34:56Who's that?
34:57What are you doing, bud?
34:58So, my dad and I have been looking for some time to talk, so since I was home working on
35:06my jewelry business, I thought now would be a good time.
35:12These past couple months, I have pretty much felt, like, empty and alone because, like,
35:17coming from seeing your family at least, like, every other day to not seeing your family
35:21at all, yeah, it's hard.
35:24Hey, Marley, you want a bone?
35:28I am fine with dad coming to talk to me, but, I mean, if my parents could just only hear
35:34me out, I mean, there's going to be some things that y'all don't agree that I do or y'all
35:39don't like, but that doesn't mean that y'all have to get mad and push family members away.
35:48I hope this conversation ends where, like, we can get back to, like, being a family.
35:54Here's the lay down.
35:56I'm hoping that we can begin coming up with a plan and then an idea and her understanding
36:02and knowing that you're just going to have to be the one to finally take responsibility
36:08and ownership of your actions.
36:11It's not about everybody else.
36:12It's about what you've done.
36:13How could you, how could you, how could you break the promises?
36:29Why we never, we never, ever destroy the other like you did?
36:33How could you break the promises?
36:35How could you break the promises?
36:37Hi Marley.
36:39Hi.
36:40Hi.
36:40Hi.
36:41She had to undo 14 lots and yes?
36:43No.
36:43I've been texting and messaging with Ana the last few days to try to set up a time to come
36:46over and talk with her.
36:48Just to break the ice, to start trying to figure it out.
36:51trying to figure it out.
36:54Did you not have to work all day?
36:56I just got off work, so...
36:58I thought when you graduated, you just wanted to get another job
37:00or did that not work out?
37:01No, I am. I'm just figuring out other things.
37:04It's definitely easier to talk with my dad about things,
37:08and that's why I agreed on it,
37:09because, like, Mom and I absolutely do not have a good relationship.
37:13Why don't you go put a jacket on?
37:15Because you're sitting here.
37:17She's 18 and a half years old.
37:18I should never have even had to say,
37:20go put a coat on.
37:22I don't care, Anna. Just freeze.
37:24You know good and well that I've supported you.
37:26I'm not saying supportment. Supporting.
37:28A little more excitement.
37:30What excitement do you want?
37:36Not doing this.
37:38I look like the bad person. I didn't do anything.
37:41I did it. What the hell did I do?
37:46Let's talk about what's going on with you and the family.
37:48I don't know.
37:52Well, how come you don't come around?
37:54I mean, I do want to come around,
37:56but it's like for the past 10 years since I was 14,
38:00since eighth grade, it's always we've gotten to these arguments
38:04between parents and I or Mom and I.
38:08Halftime, it's just we settle and we forget.
38:12And I'm just tired of doing that with just general stuff.
38:16Just everything.
38:18I think my parents expect like when they're mad at me
38:22and then they finally get over being mad at me,
38:24they expect me to be on their time and be okay
38:28and act like nothing has happened.
38:30But I am someone like I need to have a conversation.
38:33I need to just work it out then because it's going to eat me up
38:37and yeah, it's going to like bother me.
38:41So this time around, what's caused you not to come around?
38:46Multiple things.
38:47I mean, it's been, it started, it started when I went over to borrow
38:52and I said I was going to get back the graduation thing,
38:55cap and gown and y'all accused me that I was just taking photos
38:59and not wanting to take family photos.
39:01It really hurt me.
39:02It really did.
39:03That's not the real reason why you're into this mood.
39:06Yes, it is.
39:08No.
39:09All of this rift boils down to the fact that she,
39:12as a 24-year-old individual, contributed alcohol to an underage girl.
39:17She does not understand the repercussions that either she brings on
39:23or the risk that she brings.
39:25So when you try to sit down with your 24-year-old daughter
39:27and you're filling in the pieces that this really happened
39:30and you really did this, now you're the bad guy.
39:33I don't know why we're still bringing this up because I said in there
39:36and I said in there in front of her, that was my fault and I'm sorry.
39:40I was like, they hadn't found out.
39:42My parents were upset, but we were texting and talked it out
39:46and I thought it was all good.
39:48So I was like, why the are we bringing this back up
39:50and why are we mad at each other for this?
39:52That's what started this and that's what's brought this on.
39:56Are you happy to say that five times?
39:57You took that out and you have held that against us.
40:00All the other little things since then has been adding up,
40:02like the graduation gown coming to the house when you knew
40:05we wasn't at home and going through the closets.
40:07No, because I explained how my friend Stephanie was the one
40:09that invited me to shoot graduation photos
40:12so she could build her portfolio.
40:14I can call Stephanie right now.
40:15Call her.
40:16No, I just...
40:17Call her. Call her. You just said I can call a friend.
40:19I don't need to show proof. I don't need to show proof.
40:21Anna, you just told me, damn it, that you could call her and she'll tell her.
40:24If I wanted to, I would. I can.
40:26So is that why you came into her just to fuss at me?
40:29I'll tell you what, I came over here for the goodness of the family.
40:32Anda tends to bend the truth, not be truthful, lie.
40:36I've been through this with arguing about parents since high school.
40:43So I know how these arguments go,
40:45where it's just bickering and arguing back and forth.
40:49They just bring up old .
40:51This is you and me. Mom's not here.
40:53There's a lot of stuff I'm not opening up that have happened in the past.
40:55There's a lot of stuff you're not going to open up when you're guilty and you're at fault.
40:58No.
40:59Amber and I love Anna.
41:01We've always loved Anna.
41:02But there's not a conversation or a fast resolution that's going to fix this.
41:09We're not bringing back stuff like that.
41:11I'm going to bring back anything I want to bring back.
41:13Okay, then I'll walk out right now with my keys.
41:15This season on, seven long jump steps.
41:29Come here, mama. Smile.
41:31She just took three steps.
41:37Yes!
41:38We're ahead.
41:39The family is doing a scavenger hunt.
41:44Hurry up.
41:46We are all super competitive and we're terrible losers.
41:49We are.
41:50We're great cheaters.
41:51I'll give you 10 bucks if you do me a favor.
41:53Dad's probably cheating.
41:55Yes.
41:56Cheat.
41:57Damn, dude, you're giving me my $10 back.
41:59We are taking our family Christmas photo.
42:04We're walking all the way to Bethlehem to take this photo.
42:06Oh.
42:07My gosh.
42:08Wow.
42:09Is that a goat?
42:12Look at us going from being 16, talking about prom.
42:15Now we're talking about babies and engagement.
42:19I've expressed to Bryce whenever he feels ready to propose,
42:23it should be on his time.
42:25What can I do for you?
42:26Just looking for some engagement rings.
42:28Okay.
42:29Of course, you know I am nervous,
42:31because it's a once in a lifetime thing.
42:33Oh, gosh, my heart's racing.
42:35So, I guess you've been real busy since you missed Emma's graduation.
42:39Not real busy.
42:40It's just, I mean...
42:41What's the deal?
42:42Like, why haven't you been around, like, us and the family?
42:44I'm not here to argue about that kind of stuff.
42:47Definitely kind of hurt, because she doesn't want to talk about what happened.
42:52Alex was not happy.
42:53And all Emma and Alex were asking for is just an apology.
42:58Just say you're sorry.
42:59Honestly, it's mom and dad.
43:01For most of my life, I did what they wanted.
43:04But now I'm having to do what's right for me.
43:08Do you want a relationship with your family?
43:10It's not that I don't want, like, dude.
43:13Like, really, I'm walking into the new year putting myself first.
