00:00Whoever remains undefeated that night cannot be guaranteed an easy time of it.
00:16As a matter of fact, the combination of styles proves to make November 18th a very interesting evening.
00:24Jones has more one-punch power than James Toney.
00:27I think Jones has the knockout power of one-punch.
00:32Toney's power is constant, continual, and cumulative.
00:37I think therein he's got to get close enough to make it work.
00:41Jones moves.
00:43Toney's immovable.
00:46And a bomb from Toney.
00:48And that went wobble to McCallum.
00:50And another run.
00:51Toney comes after him here.
00:52I don't think that Toney will be able to deliver the punches towards Roy that he does on everybody else because, you know, you can't hit what you can't see.
01:05Well, James is pretty fast himself.
01:08And I think his speed will give Roy Jones equal trouble.
01:11So that should kind of neutralize that.
01:13And James has the best defense in boxing.
01:16So that's going to be to his advantage.
01:21Speed and power are two elements within this matchup that need to be considered.
01:25Another is the level of competition each has faced.
01:28Tony will be, by far, the best fighter that Roy has fought against.
01:34You know, with a lot of fighters, a fighter just adjusts to the caliber of competition that he has.
01:41And Tony will bring the best out of Roy.
01:44He's never faced nobody like James.
01:48It's like a ram being led to slaughter.
01:51He's not ready for this, but he must have it because he asked for it.
01:55Well, you have to give him what he asked for.
01:58Regardless of the outcome, the anticipation of this bout continues to grow.
02:03Some consider Toney and Jones to be the two greatest fighters in the world.
02:07So this one fight should live up to its expectations.
02:11I just think it's going to be a bull and matador fight with a lot of people throwing a lot of good punches and a lot of good defenses.
02:18This is the best fight in five years.
02:21I had no idea how this fight's going to turn out, who's going to win.
02:26But I know the skill level of both of these guys because I've seen them perform.
02:31And I can't wait to see this fight on November 18th.
02:34Ever since they became middleweights, Roy Jones Jr. and James Toney knew their win was inevitable.
02:43Over the years, they have fought other opponents, but always with an eye on each other.
02:48For Roy Jones Jr. and James Toney, November the 18th can't come soon enough.
02:52Because when it's over, one of them will be recognized as the best in his generation.
02:57The following request special presentation.
03:25The Uncivil War, James Toney vs. Roy Jones Jr. is being brought to you live.
03:32This event may be available in Spanish in your area.
03:34Call your cable company or check your cable guide for details.
03:37I am the super middleweight champion of the world.
03:54James Lights Out Toney.
03:55I'm the king of the middleweights.
03:57Roy Jones Jr.
03:59I've never lost, and tonight will be no different.
04:02You're dead.
04:03I've knocked out 23 out of 26.
04:05Now it's your turn.
04:09It's time to put up or shut up, bitch.
04:12You saw what I did to Michael Nunn?
04:13He is out!
04:14You heard what I did to Barkley.
04:15Barkley is stunned again!
04:17Wait till you see what I'll do to you.
04:18I've had too much of your mouth.
04:26But tonight's over, you wish you'd never met me.
04:30I had enough of your trash talk, punk.
04:32I've been waiting a long time for this night.
04:38Are you ready?
04:39Yeah, I'm ready.
04:40Let's do it.
04:40We are live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
05:04Where TVKO presents The Uncivil War.
05:07First, Roberto Garcia meets Derek Gaynor
05:11in a featherweight fight scheduled for 10 rounds.
05:14Then, Danny Romero defends his NABF super flyweight title
05:18against Domingo Sosa.
05:20And that will be followed by WBO lightweight champion
05:23Oscar De La Hoya, who will put his crown on the line
05:26versus Carl Griffith.
05:29And then, in our main event,
05:31two of the best fighters in boxing today,
05:33Roy Jones, undefeated and former middleweight champion,
05:36moving up in weight to battle
05:37the IBF super middleweight title holder, James Toney.
05:42And it's all brought to you by Beachwood-aged Budweiser.
05:45It's always been true.
05:47This Bud's for you.
05:50And welcome to the MGM Grand Garden,
05:52where just two weeks ago,
05:54fight fans saw George Foreman make boxing history
05:56as he captured the heavyweight title at the age of 45.
06:00Well, tonight, fight fans will be on hand anticipating
06:03that two exceptional pugilists, James Toney and Roy Jones Jr.,
06:07will add an illustrious chapter to middleweight boxing history
06:10in a title bout appropriately labeled The Uncivil War.
06:16And good evening, everyone.
06:18I'm James Brown, and welcome to TVKO's Night of Boxing
06:20here at the MGM Grand.
06:22You know, pomp and circumstance and never-ending hype
06:25seem to be standard fare when we talk about boxing.
06:28But in the end, the only thing that matters
06:30is whether or not the talent makes that warranted.
06:34And in fact, with James Toney and Roy Jones Jr.,
06:36the talent is there in abundance,
06:38along with the fact that there is genuine
06:40and unreserved dislike for one another.
06:43Ingredients that help to make this
06:44the most talked-about fight of the year.
06:46The undercard is an exciting one as well.
06:48The golden boy, Oscar De La Hoya,
06:50continues his maturation as a professional,
06:53while the rest of the undercard,
06:54representing the lighter weight divisions,
06:56have combatants who personify
06:58a mix of speed, power, and flash.
07:02And without further ado,
07:02let's take you downstairs to the guys
07:04who will be calling the action,
07:05Gil Clancy, Larry Merchant, and Jim Lampley.
07:08Jim?
07:08All right, thank you very much, JB.
07:10If you follow our boxing telecasts
07:12on TVKO and our sister cable outlet, HBO,
07:16you know how excited we've been
07:17about this fight for so long.
07:19We've been promoting it for months now
07:20as the potential fight of the year,
07:22maybe even the fight of the decade.
07:24Larry Merchant, so much has gone
07:25into the build-up for the bout.
07:27Now that we're here,
07:28now that we've spent a couple of days
07:29immersing ourselves in the scene,
07:31is it, in your view, every bit
07:32the event that we expected it to be?
07:35It's a big event.
07:36It's not the sort of event that stops time,
07:39that electrifies even those people
07:41who aren't boxing fans.
07:42But if you're a boxing fan,
07:44and you are a boxing fan,
07:46this is big stuff.
07:47It's right up there
07:48with that wonderful series of dramas,
07:51Leonard vs. Duran vs. Hearns vs. Hagler.
07:55And even later on, Taylor vs. Chavez.
07:59Also fighters who were young champions
08:02in their primes, undefeated.
08:05What was so great about all those fights
08:06was that the expectations were very high,
08:09and the fighters surpassed the expectations.
08:14I hope we're that lucky tonight, Jim.
08:16One of the ways in which we're lucky
08:18is that a lot of the expectations
08:19surrounding this fight
08:20has to do with people's uncertainty
08:22as to what actually will happen
08:24when Roy Jones Jr. and James Toney
08:26get into the ring.
08:28With George Foreman sitting this one out,
08:29chilling in the wake of his
08:31heavyweight championship conquest,
08:32we're privileged again to work with Gil Clancy.
08:34Gil, a lot of people don't know
08:36whether this is going to be
08:37a tight tactical boxing match
08:39between two skilled boxers
08:40or an all-out slugfest
08:42between two power punchers
08:44or something in between.
08:45What do you expect?
08:46Well, you know, I don't think
08:47anybody really knows,
08:48but you have to remember
08:49they have two completely different styles,
08:51and it's going to depend
08:52on how the styles mesh.
08:53But one thing you can be sure of,
08:55with James Toney in a fight,
08:56it can't be a bad fight.
08:58At some moment in this fight,
08:59is somebody going to have
09:00to show his manhood,
09:01raise his assertiveness
09:02to another level,
09:04different from where he's been before,
09:05in order to take over the fight?
09:06You know, there's always been
09:07a moment of truth in any fight
09:09where the fighters go
09:10eyeball to eyeball,
09:11and eventually one of them will blink.
09:13All right, that'll be James Toney
09:15against Roy Jones Jr.
09:16We've got three undercard fights
09:18to show you
09:18in anticipation of the main event,
09:20starting with the two fighters
09:21who are getting into the ring right now.
09:23That is Derek Gaynor,
09:25featherweight,
09:26and he is from Pensacola, Florida.
09:27He is the best friend
09:29of Roy Jones Jr.
09:30He calls Roy Jones his manager.
09:32You see the record 12 wins,
09:34two losses,
09:35and six KOs.
09:36Fighter records tonight
09:37as these fighters get into the ring
09:39are brought to you by
09:40The Ring,
09:41the Bible of Boxing.
09:42Gaynor,
09:43a rangy southpaw,
09:45and that southpaw style
09:46is expected to be one of his
09:48potential tactical advantages
09:49in the bout
09:50against this young man,
09:52Roberto Garcia.
09:5316 wins,
09:54no losses,
09:5513 KOs.
09:56You see that he's from
09:57Oxnard, California,
09:58but he trains in Big Bear
09:59as the stablemate
10:01of Oscar De La Hoya.
10:02His trainer,
10:03Robert Alcazar,
10:04the same man
10:05who trains De La Hoya.
10:10All right,
10:13this young fighter
10:14is considered a real comer,
10:16just 19 years old,
10:18started professionally
10:19at the age of 17.
10:21And here's your tail of the tape.
10:24And you can see that Gaynor
10:25has a three-inch height advantage,
10:26a six-inch reach advantage.
10:28Add to that,
10:29the fact that he's a southpaw,
10:30and this looms
10:31as a tough tactical challenge
10:32for the still-developing
10:34Roberto Garcia.
10:35Punch that numbers, Larry.
10:37Take a look and see
10:38just how active
10:39these fighters are,
10:40and you can see
10:40that Garcia
10:41is the more active fighter.
10:44He keeps coming forward.
10:45He'll have Gaynor
10:46going backward.
10:50Jabs.
10:50Gaynor is going to have
10:51to use his right jab
10:52to hold off Garcia
10:54because Garcia
10:55is a hooking fighter
10:56who can punch.
10:58Rules of the bout,
10:58with our unofficial
10:59ringside scorer,
11:00Harold Letterman.
11:01Harold?
11:01Jim, we're definitely
11:02setting a record
11:03for televised boxing tonight.
11:04Four fights,
11:05four different sets of rules.
11:07In our first fight,
11:07Roberto Garcia and Derek Gaynor
11:09will box tonight
11:10using the rules
11:10of the Nevada State
11:11Athletic Commission.
11:12Ten rounds.
11:13There is no standing
11:14eight count.
11:15The three-knockdown rule
11:16is in effect.
11:17You can be saved by the bell
11:18in the last round only.
11:19Only the referee
11:20can stop the fight,
11:21and in case a cut
11:22is caused by an accidental
11:23headbutt,
11:24and that cut causes
11:24the fight to be stopped,
11:25will go to the scorecards
11:27if the three rounds
11:28have been completed.
11:29Before that,
11:29it's a technical draw.
11:30Jim?
11:31Thank you, Harold.
11:32Right now,
11:32let's go to ring announcer
11:33Michael Buffer
11:34for the pre-fight introductions.
11:35Ladies and gentlemen,
11:36good evening,
11:36and welcome to the MGM
11:37Grand Hotel,
11:38Casino,
11:39and theme park
11:40of Las Vegas, Nevada,
11:41where tonight,
11:42Bob Arum's top rank
11:43incorporated
11:44in association with
11:46the undisputed,
11:47undefeated king of beers,
11:48Bud Weiser,
11:50proud to be your Bud,
11:51present an evening
11:53of professional boxing
11:54for your entertainment.
11:56All the bouts you see tonight
11:57are sanctioned
11:57by the Nevada State
11:58Athletic Commission.
12:00Let's get things started
12:01with our first bout.
12:01Ladies and gentlemen,
12:02the three judges assigned
12:03by the state of Nevada
12:04are Art Lurie,
12:06Al Siciliano,
12:07and Paul Smith.
12:08And when the bell rings,
12:10the man in charge
12:10of the action
12:11will be referee
12:12Toby Gibson.
12:15Ladies and gentlemen,
12:16this is ten rounds
12:17of boxing
12:17in the featherweight division.
12:20Introducing first
12:21fighting out of the blue corner,
12:23wearing the green trunks
12:24with khaki trim
12:25and weighing in
12:26at 128 pounds.
12:28He comes to us
12:29from Pensacola, Florida
12:30with a professional record
12:32of 12 victories,
12:33six by KO
12:34against only two defeats.
12:36Ladies and gentlemen,
12:37Derek Smoke
12:39Gainer.
12:44And his opponent
12:45across the ring
12:45fighting out
12:46of the red corner,
12:47wearing the white trunks
12:48with gold letters,
12:50weighing in
12:50at 126 and one-half pounds.
12:53From La Colonia Boxing Club
12:55of Oxnard, California,
12:57he brings an undefeated record
12:58of 16 and 0,
13:0013 KOs.
13:01Introducing Robert
13:03Grandpa Garcia.
13:12Give me the water again.
13:14Here.
13:16Okay, gentlemen,
13:17I've given you both
13:18your instructions
13:18prior to this fight
13:19in your respective dressing rooms.
13:21Are there any questions
13:22from either corner?
13:22No questions.
13:24Give me a good, clean fight
13:25and obey my commands
13:25at all times.
13:26Good luck to both of you.
13:27Garcia seems a little young
13:30to be called Grandpa, Gil.
13:33Sure does.
13:34But you know,
13:34one thing I've noticed
13:35about Gainer,
13:36he has what I call
13:37tricky trunks.
13:38They're a little bit high,
13:39but they stick out
13:40in the front,
13:41which is going to induce
13:43Garcia to land
13:44a lot of low blows
13:45because punches
13:46that would ordinarily
13:47skip that protrusion
13:48are going to hit him
13:53in the trucks.
13:53Let's wait and see.
13:55And then meanwhile,
13:56Jim,
13:56you mentioned
13:57that Gainer was a southpaw,
13:58but you left out one word,
13:59a tall southpaw,
14:01which really complicates
14:02the problem for Garcia.
14:05So it's an interesting
14:06challenge for Garcia
14:07in this his 17th
14:08professional fight.
14:09Remember,
14:09he's got 13 KOs coming in.
14:11He told us yesterday
14:12that the toughest
14:13of those 16 preceding fights
14:15was against a southpaw
14:17named Gabriel Castro.
14:18And already you can see
14:19that Garcia looks
14:21a little bit tentative
14:22as he tries to find
14:23an opening
14:23against the rangy Gainers.
14:28Well,
14:28he should have been
14:29working with southpaws
14:30in the gym
14:31getting ready for this fight,
14:33and they should have
14:33a fight plan going in
14:35and not that he has
14:36to figure things out
14:36after he gets in there.
14:42So far,
14:44Gainer has thrown
14:45a jab or two.
14:46There's another.
14:47Garcia with one lunging
14:48right toward the midsection,
14:49and that's about it
14:50as they check each other out
14:52for the first minute
14:53of this fight.
14:56Scheduled for 10 rounds.
14:58These are featherweights.
15:05Garcia weighed in
15:06at 126 and a half,
15:07and Derek Gainer weighed in
15:08at 128.
15:09Garcia's trainer
15:13is the same man
15:14who trains Oscar De La Hoya.
15:16Derek Gainer is trained
15:17by the same man
15:18who trains
15:18Roy Jones Jr.,
15:20Alton Merkerson.
15:28Gainer flicking the jab,
15:29alternately moving
15:30to the right
15:31and then the left.
15:33Think it's the plan, Gil,
15:34for him to move laterally
15:35in both directions
15:36rather than choosing one?
15:37Well, he's trying
15:38to use his height
15:39and the fact
15:40that he is a southpaw.
15:41He's doing a lot of fainting,
15:42not too much punching,
15:44and Garcia
15:44is throwing a few punches
15:47when he does get
15:48this guy within range.
15:50In case you question
15:51the maturity
15:51of the 19-year-old Garcia.
15:54He'll be 20 next month.
15:56He went to Japan
15:57to fight as a professional
15:58when he was 17 years old
16:00because he couldn't
16:01be licensed to fight
16:02in California
16:02at age 17.
16:04Gave it clean.
16:06They must have thought
16:07a lot of him
16:07to send him all the way
16:09to Japan,
16:10invest that kind of money,
16:11and apparently
16:12it has paid off.
16:13relatively slow tactical round one.
16:29Garcia trying to make it
16:31a little bit more active
16:32now in the last 30 seconds.
16:33hasn't been able
16:39to land too much,
16:40but he's making
16:41his presence felt.
16:43Maneuvering Gaynor
16:43back into the ropes
16:44and trying to go
16:45to the body.
16:47Still,
16:48Gaynor with the long jab
16:50and the footwork
16:51stays out of harm's way
16:54throughout round one.
17:01One big shot, okay?
17:03I want you to hit this guy.
17:05He ain't that fast.
17:06His punches are slow smoke.
17:07Your hands are real fast.
17:08You can move on this guy
17:09and hit him
17:09with two or three point
17:10combination,
17:11then back out.
17:12Don't sit up there.
17:13Don't let him make his,
17:14let him keep his feet still.
17:15Keep him moving, okay?
17:17Give me some in and out.
17:18Work your jab up and down,
17:19come back to the top
17:20with your left hand some.
17:21At ringside,
17:24Roy Jones Jr.,
17:25one of the stars of the show
17:26later on this evening.
17:28He is listed
17:28as Derek Gaynor's manager.
17:30He is Derek Gaynor's
17:31best friend.
17:32They've known each other
17:33a long time down
17:34in Pensacola, Florida.
17:36I need you to touch him
17:37a little bit more, okay?
17:38Sit down.
17:39What about Roy being out here
17:40at ringside in the hours
17:41before the biggest fight
17:42of his life, Gil?
17:43Well, you know,
17:44I've had,
17:44when I managed Emil Griffith,
17:46his cousin Bernard
17:47was a fighter
17:48and he was very emotionally
17:49involved with Bernard,
17:51but I would certainly
17:51never let him out of the arena
17:54when the fight was going on
17:55when Bernard was fighting
17:56underneath.
17:57After all,
17:57these big fights
17:59feel like a Roy Jones,
18:00the most important fight
18:01of his life.
18:02He should be concentrating
18:03on that fight
18:03and not worried
18:04about this young fellow
18:06in there,
18:07despite the fact
18:08that he's his best friend.
18:11Very bad move on my...
18:12So ideally,
18:13you'd have him
18:14in the dressing room?
18:15Absolutely.
18:16And Garcia has now
18:17switched to Southpaw.
18:18We were told
18:20he might do this
18:21even for a full round
18:23at a time.
18:25So now you've got
18:26Southpaw against Southpaw
18:27and Garcia immediately
18:28looks more aggressive
18:28and then switches back
18:29to the conventional stance
18:31and tries to come over the top
18:32with the right hand.
18:33No, hold him.
18:33No, hold him.
18:34No, hold him.
18:34Box it out there.
18:34Box it out there.
18:35You know,
18:35for Gainer to win
18:36any of these rounds,
18:37he's going to have to
18:38expose himself a little
18:38and throw some punches.
18:40Right now,
18:40he's fighting
18:41strictly defensively.
18:42It sounds to me, Gil,
18:49like he hasn't forgotten
18:50the warning given to him
18:53to the first fighter
18:54he ever fought
18:55when he was 12 years old.
18:56The kid said to him,
18:57I fought eight fights
18:58and have nine knockouts.
19:00I think Garcia...
19:01He's been on the defense
19:02ever since.
19:03I think Garcia's camp
19:04sent a message to him.
19:07They said that Garcia
19:08had 16 fights
19:09and 17 knockouts.
19:12And now Garcia's
19:19back to southpaw again.
19:22And it looks as though
19:23Garcia has decided
19:25that he can take
19:26a few chances
19:26as long as Gainer
19:27is going to be
19:28as conservative
19:29and self-protective
19:30as he's been.
19:31But I don't think
19:32that Garcia would have
19:33to switch to southpaw
19:34at all because
19:34with Gainer fighting
19:36strictly defensively,
19:38he can just keep
19:38putting round after round
19:39in the bank
19:40on simple aggressiveness
19:41and landing
19:42two or three punches
19:43around to none
19:44for the other fellow.
19:45But he himself
19:46seems to have been
19:47more comfortable
19:47being aggressive,
19:48Gil,
19:49when he switched
19:49to that southpaw stance.
19:56Look of greater
19:57determination now
19:58in Garcia's eyes
19:59as he seems
20:00to feel an inner pressure
20:02to get inside
20:03and make something happen.
20:04There's the hardest
20:04punch Gainer's thrown
20:05in the fight.
20:06First clean punch
20:07that he's landed
20:07in the fight.
20:11Okay, stop punching.
20:12Let him up.
20:12We mentioned the fact
20:13that he's a tall southpaw.
20:15He gets back
20:15against those ropes
20:16and leans back
20:17and Garcia can't reach him.
20:19have a great
20:19done.
20:20Name
20:20zo of all the
20:34force of all.
20:34Gainer doubling up
20:35on the jab,
20:36finally beginning
20:37to cut loose
20:38just a little bit
20:39in the closing
20:39thirty seconds
20:40of round number two.
20:42But mostly,
20:43it's been Garcia
20:43and Gaynor running.
20:48Stop punching. Come on, Russell.
20:50Let's go.
20:51Come on. Corners.
21:00And while Roy Jones sits at ringside
21:02and watches his stablemate and good friend and protege,
21:05Derrick Gaynor, James Toney,
21:08rocks out in his dressing room
21:10and gears himself up mentally
21:12for tonight's IBF Super Middleweight Championship
21:16defense against Jones.
21:27I gave Tony the first round already.
21:31You know, we only saw him yesterday,
21:33but it looks to me like he gained some weight.
21:36We'll find out about that later.
21:38He tells us he gained...
21:41What was it, Larry?
21:4216 pounds?
21:44Yeah, he weighed in at 167,
21:46and the word came down that by the time he went to bed
21:50about eight hours later last night, he weighed 183.
21:53I find it hard to believe.
21:55And perhaps more importantly,
21:57I don't think it could do him any good.
21:59But we have a scale in his dressing room,
22:01and he promised to get on the scale for us
22:03sometime later before the main event
22:05to see just exactly how much he does weigh now.
22:08James Toney told us the hardest part of every fight
22:11is making weight.
22:12Box it out.
22:13Box it out.
22:14Put the hole.
22:15Put the hole.
22:16Box it out.
22:17Round three, Garcia against Gaynor.
22:18You see, one of the reasons if you're a fight manager,
22:20you don't like to fight southpaws,
22:22because even if Garcia wins this fight,
22:24it's not gonna be a memorable performance.
22:26It doesn't enhance his career or his drawing ability at all.
22:31Particularly in this, his first big national exposure.
22:35But it will teach him, Gil, not to fight southpaws,
22:38tall southpaws again.
22:39Oh, yeah.
22:40You don't have to teach him, Larry.
22:42You have to teach the manager.
22:43In the case of Garcia, Robert Alcazar doubles
22:54as both trainer and manager.
23:00Good right hand of the body by Garcia,
23:02but one punch at a time as Gaynor clinches
23:05and then moves away.
23:16So not too many years ago,
23:18or maybe too many years ago,
23:20if a fighter was fighting the way Gaynor was fighting,
23:23the referee would stop the fight.
23:25I just mentioned the magic word, paid.
23:28If you don't fight, you're not going to get paid.
23:31You'd be surprised how many times
23:33that brought out the aggressiveness in a fighter.
23:37Again, he was punching short, big, tall guy.
23:39He's not even reaching Garcia with his punches.
23:45You can see him pulling back
23:46with that straight left hand before it landed.
23:50I can recall Teddy Brenner,
23:52the great matchmaker at Madison Square Garden,
23:55during the fight like this,
23:56going into the corner and telling his corner,
23:58you better get that guy to fight,
24:00or we won't let him in here again.
24:02I've seen Teddy Brenner do that many and many a time.
24:08That's why he was a great matchmaker.
24:11One of the reasons.
24:14Get off his head. Get off his head. Get off his head.
24:17Get off his head.
24:18Toby Gibson keeps telling Derek Gaynor
24:20to get off of Robert Garcia's head.
24:22Garcia punches away at the body,
24:25while Gaynor listens to Gibson
24:27and doesn't move his hands.
24:29Very defensive fight so far by Derek Gaynor,
24:33and Robert Garcia doing his best
24:35to try to speed up the action,
24:37but with little effect so far.
24:39Actually, there's no point in Garcia
24:42making all that feinting movement
24:44because he's not doing him very good.
24:46He just has to punch at that body or shoulder or arm.
24:49Hard body punch by Gaynor.
24:53Best shot he's landed in the fight so far
24:56as round three comes to a close.
24:58Our interpreter in the corner
25:06where Robert Alcazar speaks to Roberto Garcia
25:08is Hector Garcia.
25:15Cut the ring on this guy.
25:16You have to cut the ring.
25:18Just two hits. Just two punches.
25:21Use the right hand on the other body.
25:23Just get closer. Cut the ring.
25:25Keep cutting the ring and move tight to side.
25:27Your hands up.
25:32Carol Letterman, your score.
25:34Larry, 29-28, two rounds to one.
25:37Roberto Garcia.
25:38I thought he lost the first round just by doing nothing.
25:40He hardly threw a punch in the first round,
25:41but then he just took over the fight.
25:42But I'll tell you something.
25:43I wish they'd let him sit down between rounds.
25:46That standing up is going to get Roberto Garcia real tired.
25:48They ought to let him sit down between rounds.
25:50I gave Garcia all three rounds.
25:53I don't think that Gaynor did anything in any of the rounds
25:57to warrant getting them scored for him.
26:04I agree with you, Larry.
26:06I don't think Gaynor has tried to win a round.
26:09Hard left hand by Garcia.
26:10Drives Gaynor back into the ropes
26:12and gets the attention of the crowd.
26:13Garcia once again switches around to a southpaw stance.
26:17Goes hard with the left hand of the body.
26:19And then tries to come up and under,
26:21and Gaynor just grabs him and ties him up.
26:23Left hand over the top landed by Gaynor.
26:33He was just a tad short with it, but made contact.
26:36You can see when Gaynor throws that straight left hand,
26:44he's trying to punch and get out of the way at the same time.
26:47Yeah, exactly.
26:48And you can't do both.
26:49It seems to me he's been in the gym a lot with Roy Jones,
26:52but he can get away with it, Jones.
26:54He can land that punch and then get out of there
26:56before you can counter.
26:57Let him up, let him up, let him up.
26:59Let him up.
27:03What you have to stress to your fighter
27:05is the punch has to go in the front of the guy's head
27:07and out the back.
27:09Not just touch and get out of there.
27:14Maybe sometimes being in the gym with an unorthodox fighter
27:18who's an astronomical talent like Jones
27:20can be a little misleading to other fighters
27:22and a little bit destructive to them.
27:24Well, except that the Gaynor has had his own style for years
27:28and he is a southpaw,
27:30so it shows no inclination to be following
27:35what Roy Jones does in the ring.
27:47Hard left hand over the top by Gaynor.
27:50That one got Garcia's attention,
27:52but now here comes the Oxnard, California teenager.
27:55King him up, bring it up.
28:11Gaynor's getting a little warm up now.
28:12He's getting into the swing of things
28:14and he's fighting a lot more.
28:16Much more aggressive this round.
28:18Okay, stop punching. I don't know, I don't know.
28:29Garcia just sticking to his business,
28:31continues to come straight forward and try to find opportunities
28:34against the rangy southpaw who presents a difficult target for it.
28:48Stop punching, stop punching, stop punching.
28:55Any time he's in range, any time he's in range,
28:58I want you to keep a jab in his face, lock the left hand in,
29:01then move out.
29:04There's Oscar De La Hoya in his dressing room.
29:07He fights against Carl Griffith just a little bit later on this evening.
29:11And De La Hoya is watching his stable, Robert Garcia.
29:16Or, if you prefer, Roberto Garcia,
29:18as Garcia goes against Derrick Gaynor.
29:26De La Hoya had his own problems with a southpaw.
29:32Jimmy Breedal.
29:33Jimmy Breedal.
29:34Stop punching, stop punching.
29:35Presumably he's trying to pass along some of his wisdom
29:38about that experience.
29:40But I don't know if it means anything
29:42when you're fighting a guy who fights like this.
29:45Stop punching, let him go.
29:55And Walton Merkison in the corner was not ashamed to tell his guy to grab and hold on.
30:10And now Gaynor's landing some straight left hands.
30:24We've got to acknowledge that Gaynor's plan may yet pay off Gil
30:27if he manages to wear young Garcia down, as he told us in the meeting he thought he could do.
30:32Let him go, let him go.
30:33Let him go.
30:34Let him go.
30:35Well, I had Gaynor winning the last round, and he's been very effective so far in the beginning of this round.
30:40Okay, stop punching, stop.
30:41He's not pleasing the public.
30:42Let him go.
30:43He's being effective in the ring.
30:45I think he's terrible.
30:46I can't stand anything he's doing.
30:50Stop punching, stop punching.
30:55Stop punching.
30:56There's that trunk problem as Toby Gibson keeps telling Garcia to bring his punches up, Gil.
31:03Well, you can see the way the cup protrudes.
31:06It does catch a lot of punches before they land through the abdomen.
31:19Very frustrating for young Garcia.
31:25Garcia lands a left hand, and Gaynor infuriates many in the crowd by backpedaling and dancing.
31:33What about Larry Merchant?
31:36He's disgusted.
31:37Not infuriated, Larry?
31:40Uh, disgusted, right?
31:42Okay, stop punching.
31:43No, infuriated.
31:44I don't think I could be infuriated any more than I am by watching a fighter like this who obviously doesn't like the fight.
31:50I won that round, Jim.
31:52Infuriated.
31:53I think you're one up on me.
31:55I couldn't get him to own up to disgusted.
31:58The puzzle of Derek Gaynor, still a bit of a mystery for the aggressor in the fight, Roberto Garcia.
32:25And we're halfway home.
32:34Put the pressure on him.
32:35Keep the pressure.
32:36Use that right hand all the time.
32:38Put that pressure.
32:40Keep, don't fight outside.
32:44Get closer to this guy.
32:46And use that uppercut.
32:47Straight uppercut.
32:48Straight.
32:49And straight.
32:52Just get closer.
32:55Put the pressure and make him fight.
32:59Go for it, guy.
33:03Touch the stomach, then come up to the head, okay?
33:09Change the jab up.
33:10Don't shoot at the same place all the time.
33:12Take deep breath.
33:13Don't let him get you on the inside.
33:15Don't do that on the inside.
33:16Don't do that on the inside.
33:17Don't do that on the inside.
33:18Come on, I told you, baby.
33:19Come on, corner.
33:20Come on, corner.
33:21Come on.
33:22Come on.
33:23Watch out.
33:28Round six of a Schedule 10 between Roberto Garcia and the White Trunks.
33:33Derek Gaynor in the green.
33:34Garcia, stablemate and good friend of Oscar De La Hoya.
33:38Derek Gaynor, good friend and managed by Roy Jones Jr.
33:43Get off his head, Smoke.
33:44Get off his head.
33:45Good body attacked by Garcia to begin round six.
33:49Okay, stop punching.
33:50Stop punching.
33:51I don't need no wrestling.
33:52I'm gonna tell both of you.
33:53Come here.
33:54Both of you.
33:55Let's go.
33:56That way he'll at least touch something and have the guy in front of him and bring the
34:11guy into exchanges.
34:12But when he's trying to reach it from too far away, he just can't reach the guy.
34:17He's gotta step over.
34:18So say again, keep sliding left and throwing left hooks to the body?
34:21Right.
34:22Right to the guy's elbow.
34:23You don't even have to worry about hitting him in the body.
34:24He'll get his elbow out of the way.
34:27But then at least you're close to the guy and you can hit him with other punches.
34:31He seems to be opting for the straight right hand approach.
34:33Well, you can see so far he hasn't been able to reach the guy with it.
34:37Yeah.
34:38Okay, stop the punch.
34:39I don't need the wrestling.
34:40Let's go.
34:41Stop it.
34:42If he steps over, he'll be a lot closer.
34:43Come here.
34:44Keep it clean inside.
34:45Stop the wrestling.
34:46Be able to land that right hand.
34:51Straight left hand inside by Gaynor.
34:55Considerably more aggressive in the last couple of rounds.
34:58But still, whenever Garcia mounts an attack,
35:03Gaynor is given to grabbing and holding.
35:08Again, you see he's allowing Gaynor to move to his right and escape.
35:20Gaynor trying to come up and under and catch Garcia underneath with an uppercut.
35:25There's a straight left hand.
35:27Partially blocked by Garcia.
35:28Garcia lands a right hand as he goes in.
35:31Of course, the more frustrated Garcia becomes, Gil, the more chance there is he'll make a mistake.
35:50Not a mistake, make a lot of mistakes.
35:53And Gaynor can score points and put rounds in the bank, win rounds.
35:56Stop punching.
35:58Light him up.
35:59Light him up.
36:00Light him up.
36:01Round six.
36:05Much like its predecessors.
36:10Let me get a few more punches out of you though, okay?
36:37Okay? Okay?
36:42Smoke, remember what I told you in the second round,
36:44this guy can't fight moving back?
36:46Try him every once in a while.
36:48Okay, give me the spoon.
36:50His eyes is mine.
36:53Okay.
36:55Knock that one off the floor.
36:59Listen to me.
37:01Keep working that way.
37:03Keep cutting the ring, the right hand and the left hand,
37:06and get closer, get closer to this guy.
37:08He's desperate.
37:09He's desperate.
37:10So go inside and keep fighting this guy.
37:13Okay.
37:15Okay, let's go.
37:17The right hand and keep the pressure on.
37:20Let's go, Merck.
37:29Round seven.
37:31Beto Garcia in white, Derek Gaynor in green.
37:35Garcia unbeaten with a record of 16-0.
37:38Through those six rounds.
37:39Larry, 57-57, three rounds apiece.
37:42I'll tell you the honest to God's truth.
37:43I think it's a close fight because of the fact that Roberto Garcia can't get inside.
37:48He just can't get in Derek Gaynor's chest where he should be,
37:51and Derek Gaynor's out boxing him.
37:52He sticks, he hits him, and he moves.
37:54He gets out of there.
37:55I've got it five rounds to win for Garcia.
37:58As Derek Gaynor won 100 fights in a row this way, I wouldn't pay a nickel to see his 101st.
38:05I was going to say, Larry, loving Gaynor's effort as much as you do.
38:10You've got to be more enthralled than ever with the explanation for his loss in his last fight against Greg Torres in Atlantic City when he says that he was distracted and eventually foiled by some hair tonic that came off of Torres' hair and got into his eyes.
38:25Hair tonic disguised as a glove with a fist in it, no doubt.
38:32Let's not be so hard on him, Larry.
38:34It could have been died from the glove.
38:37I don't want to be hard on the kid.
38:39I mean, he's doing the best he can, and I will give him that.
38:43He's in there, and I'm out here, and he's trying.
38:48And it's trying your patience.
38:52Get off his head.
38:59Okay, stop punching, stop punching.
39:04He's going to see a lunging inside when he's able to push Gaynor into the ropes.
39:07He's becoming more frustrated as time goes by.
39:11He's starting to forget his balance and his rhythm.
39:18And, of course, the more he does that, the more dangerous the situation could become for him.
39:26Although, Gaynor doesn't look to have the kind of power that might enable him to put Garcia away with one shot.
39:32Well, I don't think that he could hurt Garcia with a punch because most of the time he's trying to punch and get out of the way at the same time.
39:39Punches really don't have much of an impact.
39:41Okay, stop punching, stop punching.
39:45Let him off.
39:46Get him off his head.
39:47Another headlock by Gaynor.
40:00Again, Garcia was just coming straight in.
40:05No angles, nothing.
40:07Hard left hand in there by Gaynor.
40:09Seemed to momentarily stop Garcia in his tracks.
40:12And then Roberto began coming forward again.
40:15He's been the aggressive throughout most of the bouts.
40:17Stop punching.
40:22Let him off.
40:23Let him off.
40:24Listen to me.
40:26Tape.
40:27Give me some tape, baby.
40:30James Toney on the left, Roy Jones Jr. on the right.
40:37Tony in his dressing room in a meditation as he prepares for the main event.
40:42And Roy Jones Jr. still out here at ringside as he's watching his good buddy and protege Derek Gaynor
40:48trying to pick up the 13th win of his professional career against two losses.
40:53And just to repeat what you said earlier, Gil Clancy, you think that Jones' present activity,
40:57sitting here and watching his buddy fight, is a bad idea?
41:00Absolutely.
41:01He doesn't realize that you get rid of a lot of nervous energy.
41:04I mean, I know watching my granddaughter play tennis in tournaments would take a lot out of me.
41:10And I was just a spectator.
41:11So I imagine he's taking something out of Roy Jones, sitting there rooting for his fighter.
41:22Let's go ahead.
41:23You're looking good, baby.
41:26You're looking good, baby.
41:32Jones with a slightly different opinion of Gaynor's progress than, say, Larry Merchant.
41:38Well, I have the fight very close right now.
41:41I have Garcia one point ahead.
41:45Best left hook that, uh, Garcia landed just then.
41:49Gainor was moving away as Garcia landed that left hook.
41:54And Garcia didn't get a chance to put a second power shot in behind it.
41:58Garcia taking a lot of chances now to try to get inside.
42:03Well, we had mentioned that he's getting frustrated, taking chances, but in so doing, he's allowing Gainor to score some clean punches and then get out of there as he just did then.
42:13And that time, it was a combination of Garcia coming in just as Gaynor released the punch.
42:25That's what happens when you take too many chances.
42:28There's that frustration again.
42:29He forgot that the other guy can still throw a punch.
42:32And I guess anybody would have forgotten a few punches as Gaynor threw in the fight.
42:37So, unbeaten Roberto Garcia, having been decked here in the eighth round, now in a good bit of trouble against Derrick Gaynor.
42:47Gaynor looking for a chance to land another clean shot, but still being very self-protective while doing so.
42:54And there's a hard left hook.
42:56Garcia's in trouble.
42:59Wobbly legs for Garcia.
43:00He manages to stay up.
43:02Almost went down.
43:05All the hard shots now being landed by Gaynor.
43:11No holding, no holding, no holding.
43:14Gainor showing something there.
43:16Gilly remembered to go to the body even while trying to finish.
43:20Well, he figures he's got a very, very hurt opponent in front of him at the moment.
43:25He's letting everything hang out.
43:26If Garcia gets through the round and can be refreshed between rounds, this may wind up being beneficial to Garcia.
43:33Less than a minute to go in the round, but 50 seconds, still plenty of time for Gaynor to get it done.
43:42Garcia a little bit surer of his footing now.
43:46And here comes Garcia.
43:47Stop punching.
43:48Let him up.
43:49Let him up.
43:50Get off his head.
43:51Open the glove on that left hand did Gaynor.
43:52It was more of a slapping blow.
43:53Garcia about to make it out of the eighth round.
44:00Get off his head.
44:12Open the glove on that left hand, did Gaynor.
44:14It was more of a slapping blow.
44:20Garcia about to make it out of the eighth round.
44:25Time!
44:26I did give that round to Gaynor.
44:30This fight is yours, this fight is yours, but you have to move, you have to keep moving.
44:41Don't risk anything.
44:53Here we see Garcia walking right into that punch.
44:57He had been doing all the hard punching or most of it.
45:01Gaynor just loaded up and hit a softball, and there you see Roy Jones.
45:09Maybe that's the way Roy Jones wants a fight tonight, Gil.
45:12Perish the thought.
45:13That's why I don't want you to hit and don't get it.
45:14That happens.
45:14You understand?
45:15Let's do what it's all about.
45:17Okay.
45:17Let's do what it's all about.
45:18Let's go.
45:19Round nine in a fight whose complexion is suddenly changed dramatically.
45:31The eighth round knockdown of Garcia produced by Derek Gaynor, the short left hand you saw.
45:38And that punch seemed to land high on the head, and it looked like the glove was partially open.
45:45I just don't know why it had that much effect.
45:48I think he was just stepping in.
45:49It was the combination of Garcia moving in at the same moment that the punch was thrown.
45:53Not really sure, Gil, what point Alcazar was trying to make to his fighter when he said,
45:58Keep moving.
45:59Don't take any chances.
46:00This fight is yours.
46:01I couldn't understand that myself.
46:03I know if I was in the corner, I'd be telling my guy, you have to win those last two rounds.
46:09I just don't understand that at all.
46:11And Garcia wasn't listening anyway because, as you can see, he's still taking chances to try to get inside.
46:16That's what he has to do.
46:18Again, that last round must have taken a little bit of energy out of Vergane, which we had mentioned earlier,
46:24making a little bit more of a target.
46:26Garcia's got his legs back now and wants to throw everything but the kitchen sink for the moment.
46:31Let him out.
46:33Stop punching.
46:36Let him out.
46:37One thing Gaynor has learned how to do is hold.
46:39He can hold.
46:41He's an octopus.
46:44And again, Garcia throwing caution to the wind.
46:47He's just walking in, allowing himself to be picked apart.
46:50He'll look him behind the head.
46:51I don't need it.
46:53Toby Gibson's done a lot of talking, a lot of warning to Derek Gaynor, but no points deducted so far.
46:59Stop punching.
47:00Let him out.
47:00Here's another conversation.
47:03Boxing out there.
47:07Quit holding.
47:07Boxing out there.
47:08It looks as if Gaynor is just giving this round away, making no attempt to try to win the round.
47:13Stop punching.
47:14Stop punching.
47:14Let's go.
47:15You hear me?
47:16Let's go.
47:17Let's go.
47:18Let's go.
47:19Let's go.
47:20Let's go.
47:20Let's go.
47:21Let's go.
47:21Let's go.
47:22And Garcia, though willing, doesn't seem to have any snap in his punches.
47:27No, he's just being a busy fighter and scoring points at the moment.
47:30Let him up.
47:31Let him up.
47:31Let him up.
47:36Object lesson on the dangers of sending your talented young fighter in against a tall southpaw at an early stage in his career.
47:51To me, that's like sacrilegious.
47:58Get off his head.
47:59Get off his head.
48:00Got to admire Garcia's effort.
48:13He doesn't have a lot behind these punches, but he's throwing and throwing.
48:17No hold.
48:17No hold.
48:20Stop punching.
48:21Let him up.
48:25Time!
48:25And Garcia appears to get back some of what he lost in round eight on the scorecards.
48:35Keep punching.
48:36That's it, man.
48:38This fight is yours.
48:42Okay.
48:42Listen.
48:45You got one more round to go.
48:48You understand me?
48:50Keep this gown in.
48:51Give me some one, two.
48:52No more punches.
48:53I don't care about.
48:54Don't lose your mind now.
48:59Keep working now.
49:01Don't give him any distance.
49:07You let your hands go this way and keep them feet moving.
49:09Don't let him tie you up like that.
49:11Okay.
49:11Come on, baby.
49:12Now, it's your time.
49:13Come on.
49:13You know what I told you.
49:14Take deep breath.
49:15Deep breath.
49:16Let's go.
49:18Do it for me.
49:18Do it for me.
49:19Do it for me.
49:19Let's go.
49:20Let's go.
49:20That's what we need.
49:21Listen, baby.
49:22Second up, baby.
49:25Close, folks.
49:26Come on.
49:26The last one now.
49:28Boy.
49:28Round 10 begins.
49:30Harold Lederman, how do you have it scored so far?
49:32Jim, 86, 84.
49:35Five rounds to four.
49:36Derek Gaynor.
49:37It took nine rounds for Robert Alcazar to let Garcia sit down in the corner.
49:42The guy was exhausted.
49:43For God's sake, he was huffing and puffing.
49:44Couldn't get inside on Gaynor.
49:46And Gaynor's outboxing him.
49:47But it's a very, very close fight.
49:49Certainly, Garcia could pull out a draw or even a one-point win.
49:52Certainly, Gaynor gets an extra point for the knockdown.
49:56Okay, stop punching.
49:57Stop punching.
49:58Round 10 beginning much the way round nine was fought, with Garcia mounting most of the
50:02effort.
50:03Gaynor moving away.
50:04Now, there's a hard left hand from Gaynor.
50:07And that, for the moment, stops Garcia.
50:10Stop punching.
50:10Let him up.
50:12Damn it.
50:13Let him up.
50:14Put the hole.
50:15Time.
50:16No more holding.
50:17Don't lose the player.
50:18It's something stupid.
50:21Still no deduction.
50:28But you get the impression that Toby Gibson is close to issuing the point deduction.
50:32And that, of course, would nullify the two-point round for the knockdown, if, in fact, it
50:37takes place.
50:37Well, he has given them so many warnings.
50:40Don't do it again, or don't do it again, or...
50:42Right.
50:42Garcia trying to land a straight right hand, which would turn things around.
50:53Well, right now, right now, Jim, it's a matter of scoring points.
50:57He's trying to keep busy, trying to hit, gain the water, gain the hits him in this round.
51:02Just kidding.
51:11Let him up!
51:11Left him up!
51:14Let him up!
51:14Let him up!
51:15Let him up!
51:16Last minute of the fight.
51:19Let him up, let him up, let him up.
51:25Last minute of the fight.
51:27Robert Garcia came in with 16 wins, no losses, 13 KOs.
51:31And Derek Gaynor came in at 12 and 2.
51:44So it's Garcia who may be in jeopardy of losing his unblemished record.
51:49If he can't pull out a victory in this one.
51:53Well, again, it's going to depend on whether the judges like aggressiveness or ring generalship
52:00or whatever you call what the Gaynor is doing at the moment.
52:06Punch it on her!
52:07Because Garcia has been the aggressor throughout the entire fight.
52:11Closing seconds.
52:27Garcia with one last effort.
52:29Knocks the tassel off of Gaynor's shoe and leaves it limply lying in the ring.
52:36But that was the best he could do.
52:38He got the tassel.
52:39He didn't get the chance.
52:40Well, I don't know.
52:41I had the Garcia winning the fight by one point.
52:44Very, very close.
52:45Including winning round 10, right?
52:47Including winning round 10.
52:48And that's with a two-point round in the eighth?
52:50Yes.
52:50With the two-point round in the eighth.
52:52I had a dead even going into the 10th round.
52:55Unless I missed my guess, Harold Letterman is going to have Derek Gaynor having won the fight
53:00by a single point.
53:01No, I got it winning by three points.
53:04Harold, give us your final scorecard.
53:06Jim, I got it 96-93, six rounds to four, Derek Gaynor.
53:09I thought Robert Garcia was really ineffective.
53:11He chased him and chased him and chased him and never landed, you know, never landed really
53:15good shots.
53:16And I think Alcazar killed him by making him stand the whole fight.
53:19The guy was exhausted.
53:20And he should have been a Gainer's chest.
53:22So we have the difference of opinion here as Gil Clancy sees it.
53:26One point in Garcia's favor.
53:28And Harold Letterman sees it.
53:29I don't even have to tell you.
53:32I don't even have to tell you how I've scored this fight.
53:35I think Garcia did chase him all over the ring, as you see here at the end of the fight.
53:40I thought he landed a lot of clean body punches.
53:43Many more punches than I thought that Gaynor landed.
53:46I thought he won the fight clearly, in my view.
53:51Maybe Gaynor won three rounds, in my view.
53:56But it won't be the first time I'm wrong.
53:59All right.
54:00Michael Buffer seems to have collected the scorecards.
54:03Quickly, we look at punch stat numbers.
54:05Garcia threw more, landed more, landed at a higher percentage.
54:08Gaynor produced the only knockdown in the fight.
54:10That was in round eight.
54:11Michael Buffer now with the official decision.
54:13Ladies and gentlemen, we go to the scorecards.
54:16Art Lurie scores the belt, 95 to 94.
54:19Al Siciliano scores it, 96 to 93.
54:22And Paul Smith has it, 95 to 94.
54:25For the winner by unanimous decision, Robert Grandpa Garcia.
54:32Yes.
54:36I don't know what fight you were watching, Harold,
54:38but you and I had a strong disagreement in that fight.
54:41Well, Garcia weathers the knockdown and pulls out a victory to the delight of those at ringside
54:50who appreciate aggression over self-defense.
54:55Harold, a final word from you?
54:56Well, Larry, Jim, I tell you, I thought they were getting a box pretty well to be perfectly frank.
55:01I mean, you know, just because he's built like Manute Boll, you can't take it away from him.
55:05Roberto Garcia chased him and chased him and really didn't land a whole lot of clean shots.
55:09But, hey, listen, Larry called it right.
55:12You can't take it away from Larry.
55:14He was right on the money.
55:1517 wins, no losses.
55:1813 KOs for Roberto Garcia.
55:20And here is how Roy Jones Jr., friend and manager to Derek Gaynor, took the decision.
55:33First setback of the evening for Jones.
55:37Will there be another?
55:39We'll see later on down the road.
55:40Let's go back upstairs to our host, James Brown.
55:43J.B.?
55:43All right, Jim, thank you very much.
55:51And I'm smiling at the comments of Harold Letterman remarking about how Derek Gaynor was built much like Manute Boll.
55:57And as such, I thought, although Derek Gaynor may have been cosmetically unattractive in the ring,
56:02tactically he fought the right kind of fight, staying away from Garcia as long as he could before delivering those punches.
56:07But nonetheless, Garcia comes away victorious.
56:10Interestingly, Garcia says he has no problems being the stablemate of, of course, the flashy one Oscar de la Hoya
56:16and trying to pick and choose from the best assets that Oscar de la Hoya has.
56:21Also, Garcia mentioned that although he went over to Japan to turn pro at the age of 17,
56:27he wants not to go back anytime soon, only for vacation purposes.
56:31After being pressed by Gary Gaynor, he may well want to do just that.
56:35All right, coming up next, we've got an NABF super flyweight battle between Domingo Sosa and Danny Kid Dynamite Romero.
56:42This ought to be a good one, and this will be coming up in just a few minutes.
