00:00The owner of a small izakaya accidentally opened a passageway connecting a shop to
00:03another world. On one side was the ordinary human world. On the other stood the ancient
00:07city of Adelia. Food in Adelia was scarce. People only had stewed potatoes. So monotonous
00:12that Jack and Sean were sick of eating them. The alcohol there was equally awful. Sean
00:16told Jack that he had recently discovered an incredible place to eat. So the next evening,
00:19the two of them walked into a narrow alley, where a tiny restaurant quietly stood. They
00:23slid open the door and stepped inside. The lighting was warm and gentle, and the owner
00:27and server greeted them with polite hospitality. Completely unlike the restaurants they were
00:30used to, the owner was preparing a fish. His movements smooth and practiced like flowing
00:34water. Sean ordered two beers. To Jack, the drink was downright otherworldly. One sip of
00:39the chilled beer. The first cold beer he'd ever had, was shockingly delicious. Then came
00:43the salted edamame. Though the pods were coated with salt, Sean showed him the proper way to
00:47eat them, and the flavor that hit Jack's tongue was perfectly balanced. The edamame wasn't
00:51just tasty, it went beautifully with beer. For Jack, this was the best food he had tasted
00:55in his entire life. But there was something strange about the place. Though everyone could
00:58speak the same language, none of them could read each other's writing. In front of the
01:02owner simmered a clay pot filled with various ingredients. Eggs, daikon, konjac, beef tendon,
01:06ingredients Jack and Sean had never seen before. Jack decided to start with the daikon. The moment
01:11he took a bite, it was as if a door to a brand new world swung open inside him. Then came the
01:15konjac, the beef tendon, the fish rolls, each one astonishing in its own way. By the time he finished,
01:20only a single tiny potato remained on his plate. He had eaten potatoes every day of his
01:24life, and didn't believe they could taste like anything else. The owner served him a
01:27small dish of mustard. He tried a bite, it was spicy, yet somehow the potato was delicious
01:31beyond anything he'd imagine. And with a sip of warm sake, the flavor of the odin deepened
01:36even further. Just when Jack and Sean thought the surprises were over, the server slid open
01:39a wooden door behind them. The scene outside looked nothing like their world. The owner began
01:43preparing a chicken dish. He cut the chicken into strips, coated them in flour, and dropped them
01:47into hot oil. They fried to a golden crisp, and after the oil temperature rose again, he fried
01:52them a second time, giving the chicken an even crunchier texture. The squad captain took a bite,
01:56and the burst of juice inside instantly won him over. He had never imagined chicken could be crispy
02:00on the outside, yet unbelievably tender inside. Every chew felt like the meat was dancing in his mouth.
02:05Washed down with a sip of cold beer, he felt as if his life had nothing left to regret.
