00:00now this next one here will be about the mini Marshall amp I believe this one is
00:08from the 90s it requires either an AC adapter which plugs into there or a 9
00:20volt battery so the idea here was put the battery in
00:27right there is a belt clip and a guitar bass player would walk around practicing
00:36with this clip yeah that was fun that brings back fun memories but it has the
00:46overdrive but the air you would get the static when you would turn this sometimes
01:00on the volume switch or whatever so we're gonna open this up and tell you how to do
01:05it but to test it I need a battery so I got the watch burn base here I'm just
01:12gonna borrow a battery from there cuz I don't have another one right now this
01:19is pretty quick this takes two batteries let's be like two two videos in one this
01:33is just six or seven screws six screws
01:49okay
02:03one more this actually here was the base I bought from Sue ham on facebook he said he was cleaning
02:29out his closet and he signed it one set and there that is so let's just pop one of these batteries out
02:45be careful all this wiring is tricky if this ever goes okay diagram in there as it goes in one thing about this model here you can hear some static already
03:08but yeah once I plug it in and test it
03:23yeah without no there it is right there
03:40see still some more I have to fix on this
03:55thought I had it fixed already right there see that you wiggle it
04:14there's the sound so I'm gonna concentrate on that right there
04:23let's shut this off
04:25and right here so you don't have to wait is uh I believe they're all Phillips screws
04:38yep probably a smaller smaller Phillips though
04:44yeah I'm gonna go get my smaller one be right back now one tip here is
04:51let's see I want to make sure yeah
04:56one tip here is I had to use this but I had apply a lot of pressure
05:03because you want to get it first shot or see that you'll end up stripping it
05:08and then you'll never get it open so I already on gave it to you know crack the screws
05:17it's probably just because either the screws are old or maybe moisture over the years
05:23rusted it a bit
05:25and there's only the four I'm gonna pop this battery out for now
05:31but I believe they they still sell them today because it was such a popular item
05:46now maybe I can try the bigger one yeah that's easier
06:01maybe I can put on something on those screws
06:16keep it easy one sec and they're out one two three four
06:25now there's another one there but I don't think you gotta
06:29yeah that just holds on the build clip
06:32so you got two clips here
06:34there's the positive negative for the speaker
06:37and here's where
06:40you have one more screw here
06:44and you can see I did a little solder job there
06:48not the best but
06:50you got it to work
06:53I'm going to take this one out
07:05then the circuit board comes out
07:08and I believe you have to take
07:11any
07:13um
07:14washer off here
07:16there's one washer here
07:19remember using the pliers on that
07:22and then you got to take these three knobs off
07:24so
07:26use the flat
07:29part of the screwdriver
07:31just to pop these up
07:33make sure when you put it back on the
07:36crank them all the way to the right or the left
07:39and put the mark back on it
07:41so you can see the minimum and maximum
07:45and I think you're all done with that now
07:50so this is the
07:52next part and we're going to need some pliers to be right back
07:56I only had these here
07:59but they worked
08:00I just
08:02got that one
08:04and you can use your fingers to get it off the rest of the way
08:08one
08:09and then we'll go for the
08:18top one right there
08:21I'm just going to set this down a second
08:24I should just pause it but
08:27I should just pause it but
08:30it's done
08:40so I think one of the
08:43soldering points
08:45was on this
08:48part right here
08:50and don't
08:55you don't want to get that too tight
08:57or you'll strip it
08:59is that metal or
09:01yeah see that's just plastic
09:03so we're going to push that
09:05and this board should come out easy
09:09careful playing around with the wires
09:11you don't want to disconnect the wire
09:13and it'll
09:15slide out just like that
09:23and there it is
09:28okay I thought that moved for a second but it was
09:31it was put in like that
09:33not many parts
09:35resistors capacitors
09:38so you can see
09:40on the jack part
09:43is where
09:45I soldered
09:47and also with every circuit board you want to make sure
09:50you know use flux or
09:53because if any of this
09:55I did a lot of laptop
09:57DC jack work
09:59in the past 20 years
10:01and you don't want to burn up any part of the circuit board
10:05to where it's not going to make the contact
10:08because then you'd have to order a new circuit board just because of a little
10:11so be careful with the heating up and
10:15how long you place on it you know just
10:17just do it enough to
10:19to get that
10:21and you can
10:23let's plug it in right now
10:28because you don't want to put it all back together if it's not going to work
10:31so this here
10:43put the battery in
10:48we're gonna
10:50turn this on
10:51so you can hear that right now
10:55and
10:57this will go in
11:01that part right there
11:07see well this is probably the first part that will break because
11:13you're constantly moving it in and out with this leverage
11:15you know plugging it in, plugging it out, plugging it in
11:20and you jolt it every time you do it until the solder point goes
11:25so you can hear the air in there but
11:29also make sure the connection
11:32see how the static went away
11:35the static went away
11:40okay
11:46okay
11:48well I got this thing here
11:53he took a picture
11:55which is also
11:57sign the
11:59the base
12:00I wish he used a darker marker though
12:03he took a picture of him signing the base
12:06got it for like 500 bucks
12:08anyhow
12:10so that's it
12:11I mean since I already did the soldering
12:13you got your
12:15let me show you what I use for a soldering iron
12:18your typical
12:20radio shack
12:22yep, that's the first thing I was going to say
12:24is there a date on here?
12:271980
12:28and I got this from China
12:32five bucks a roll
12:34last
12:38well at least the last time I bought it years ago
12:41but definitely a better purchase than
12:44paying like
12:46eight dollars for like this much
12:49you know, solder
12:51and that's all I used
12:53so I'm going to put this back
12:54just take this back
13:01just take the
13:03battery out
13:11and you will have a problem with that
13:13you know, the tight
13:15when you go to tighten those nuts again
13:17one sec
13:18flip the board back around
13:20flip the board back around
13:22we'll go in like this
13:28I should get an adapter so I don't go through so many batteries but
13:31it'd be great if they had a charge
13:46you know charging battery pack for it
13:49like a
13:51sort of just throw the 9 volt and a charger
13:54I also have a charger video
13:57I also have a charger video
13:59it's a pretty good one
14:01it does the alkaline and the
14:03metal
14:05nickel caddy
14:11okay
14:13now I'm going to put these nuts back on one sec
14:16be careful tightening it
14:19there's one
14:21and I believe there
14:23they are two different sizes
14:25you'll find that out quick
14:29so we did the repair on the Fostex
14:32drum machine
14:34or 4-track
14:36I did have a Yamaha
14:38drum machine
14:40that was fun
14:42now why doesn't this go on
14:47oh it's probably not in
14:49it's got to be
14:51see how it's slanted
14:53it's got to be in all the way
14:55that's the ticket right there
14:57that part
15:01didn't allow it to go through
15:11I don't want to strip this
15:15tighten that
15:20bet you could get a good buy
15:22if somebody had one
15:24where they didn't know how to fix it
15:28and I believe this was like 20 bucks back then
15:35so probably 36 bucks by now
15:38I haven't priced them in a while
15:42and the screws go back in
15:46one
15:48two
15:50three
15:54oh I forgot the circuit board
15:56well I'm not going to do that now
15:58yeah remember when you put that in
16:00this one screw we took out before
16:02oh I'm going to pause this
16:04I got to do it
16:05I'm going to have to do it
16:07it is a different color
16:09screw
16:11that goes right in the middle
16:21yeah without that
16:23it might be
16:25stripping those
16:27those screws a little more
16:31let's see
16:32alright that's it
16:35alright that's it
16:42now we'll put the screws in
16:46two
16:50three
16:54and where was that last screw
16:56oh
17:03going to pause
17:05there's that
17:08so I'm not going to
17:10tighten it too much this time
17:12as long as it stays closed
17:15yep still a gap
17:23there's still a gap
17:39okay time to put the knobs back on
17:49all the way to the right
17:50to the right
17:55the tone knob
18:05and the OD overdrive
18:08that'll do it
18:10see if we can find a model number
18:12it says it just says guitar amplifier but you can use a bass
18:26dc nine volt polarity want to make sure it's the right one negative in the positive
18:37or you can damage it
18:39or you can damage it
18:41I know from experience with other products
18:45ms2
18:47there's the
18:49Marshall ms2
18:51mini amp
18:53that'll do it for this video
