00:00And the biggest name on the board was Lane Kiffin.
00:02Where is he going to go?
00:03Is it LSU?
00:04Where is he going to go?
00:04Is it Florida?
00:05Will he stay at Ole Miss?
00:06Well, Joe, he chose LSU, and the ramifications for LSU getting him are what?
00:11Well, I think a legitimate winner, right?
00:14And national championship aspirations.
00:16Look at him, Joe.
00:18Back in Baton Rouge.
00:19I mean, it's a seven-year deal, $91 million,
00:22but they guaranteed potentially $25 million for a roster,
00:26something that Brian Kelly only had $18 million.
00:28What a difference a year makes, right?
00:30$7 million in the kiddie to potentially get elite talent.
00:34And we know that Lane Kiffin in today's landscape is one of the best recruiters
00:38in college football.
00:39He gets it.
00:40He elevates his players.
00:42He elevates his program and his staff, and that's why he's a hot commodity.
00:46Now, news came out of Baton Rouge late last night from Kiffin and the school.
00:50They paid their defensive coordinator, Blake Baker, $3 million to stay in Baton Rouge
00:57and take care of that defense.
00:58That's a huge addition because, again, you're going to lose a DC that has major talent
01:05like Harold Perkins and some other, you know, defensive backs and talent in the front seven
01:10that could potentially stay with Baker calling the shots on the defensive side of the ball.
01:15And, again, Tulane was thought to go after Baker in a big way to replace John Summerall.
01:20So, you keep the DC, you keep that defensive talent.
01:24Now you could build around it in the transfer portal, something that Lane does better than
01:29anybody right now.
01:30Finding young talent, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
01:35Again, 9.5 win total this year for 26.
01:39Last year, it was only 8.5.
01:41The back-to-back years with Brian Kelly.
01:43So, an extra win or two is what Lane Kiffin brings you.
01:47And I can tell you this, they're not going to get kicked in the chops by the likes of Texas A&M
01:52losing by 21, 22 points at home.
01:55That's not going to happen again.
01:56Yeah, major upgrade.
01:57And also, it just shows the amount of money that LSU has available to them
02:00to pay a coach like Brian Kelly to leave and then sign a massive deal for a new coach.
02:04And that doesn't even, like we sometimes, Joe, just talk about, oh, he's getting $90 million.
02:07Do you know how much the rest of that coaching staff is going to make if you tack it onto him?
02:10It's unbelievable because coaches don't say, give me all the money,
02:13and then I have a small budget for my assistant coaches.
02:16Massive budget down there in LSU, no doubt about it, Joe.
02:19I just want to bring in, he's very close to Eddie O, too.
02:22And Eddie O, potentially, it said he would, you know, love a return.
02:26You bring that type of talent, another major recruiter.
02:29And Ed Ogeron, back to Baton Rouge, you're going to have a fantastic NFL-caliber type of staff,
02:35and they're going to hit the ground running week number one come 2026.
02:40Now, somebody leaves a program to go to another program.
02:43We're talking about there with Lane Kiffin, Joe,
02:45which means somebody has to fill in for Ole Miss.
02:47Pete Golding, named head coach there.
02:49This is one of those where I look at it and say, boy,
02:51you had one of the innovators in college football as your head coach in Lane Kiffin.
02:55Now you go defensive.
02:56How does that work?
02:57Ah, but, you know, is that a panic move?
03:01Well, it's not a panic move.
03:03I mean, he came from Nick Saban's tree as well.
03:05He was a former co-defense coordinator under Nick Saban.
03:09He's an older guy.
03:10He gets it.
03:11But, again, you know, the brains potentially of that offense, yeah, it was Kiffin,
03:15but it was Charlie Weiss Jr.
03:16Now, Charlie Weiss Jr., potentially, he's coaching in the playoff,
03:21then going to join potentially Lane as the OC in Baton Rouge.
03:26You know, if you're Ole Miss, would you have rolled the dice with Charlie Weiss Jr.,
03:30knowing young gun, no prior coaching experience, but he's the brains of the offense?
03:37Would you have done that?
03:38Like, I'm just saying, I like Golden, but it seems like, I don't put it this way.
03:45I don't think Golden is going to have the success that Brent Venables has had at Oklahoma.
03:51By the way, shout out Brent Venables as well, because this season, looking at his schedule,
03:55I'm like, he's ready to get himself fired.
03:56It's not even his fault at this point.
03:58We're running him out of town.
03:59Yeah.
03:59And I'll just say this.
04:01I'm a huge proponent of Oklahoma.
04:04People say, well, I hear it on all other networks.
04:07Oh, their offense stinks.
04:08Okay.
04:09Were we talking about Notre Dame's offense last year with Riley Leonard?
04:13We were talking about the national championship caliber defense.
04:17Were we talking about Penn State's offense with Drew Auer that couldn't hit a wide receiver
04:21in a college football playoff game?
04:23No, we were talking about the rushing attack and the defense led by Abdul.
04:28Carter and that front seven.
04:29So I don't want to hear it about Brent Venables.
04:31He knocked off four opponents that were top 25 caliber teams.
04:36He knocked off Michigan with Bryce Underwood when they were a top 25 team at his place,
04:40covered, knocked off Missouri, covered as a top 25 team, went to Knoxville and Tuscaloosa
04:47and knocked off both when his back was against the wall, Tennessee and Alabama.
04:52Those teams had a winning percentage of basically over 600, Donnie.
04:56Come on.
04:56I don't want to hear it.
04:57He's done a great job and he has a quarterback that if we're looking at, he's a gunslinger
05:02in a big spot.
05:03Would you bet on Matier?
05:04I would.
05:05I would.
