01:59And I think now was the time he was starting to make a little bit of noise when we were

02:04When there was less people in there.

02:06And we were starting to see a bit more of it.
02:07At least he got a great episode today.
02:09Like, it would have been a real shame if he went before doing that trial.

02:15We were laughing so much when we watched it this morning.

02:18And I'm, I don't think I am eating my own words.
02:20Because in the last few days when I've been predicting, I have kind of predicted Martin
02:23just because he has been that kind of quieter person in camp.

02:27Like, actually, we gave him the space.
02:29Or, like, they gave him the space.

02:30And now he got to do something fun.
02:31But also, I think he's happy.
02:33Like, that embraces Shirley on the end of the bridge.

02:37Like, he loves his family so much that he's going to be absolutely fine having a few cocktails

02:41Like, I actually don't feel bad.
02:43Whereas yesterday I felt really bad for Ruby because I think she just wanted to go straight back

02:47It was just nice to see him today have fun in that trial.

03:03I think he was the dad of the group, right?

03:05And, you know, having, you know, lads that are similar age to Roman and he feels like he
03:10was having a bit more fun in there.
03:12You know, I think it'll really, anybody who leaves really affects the camp.
03:14Who do you think is going to miss Martin the most, though?
03:16Well, I think all of them to a degree because I think he was such a calming presence in
03:22there.
03:22Yeah, he was.
03:23And I think with him going, it was like sort of the human form of meditation.
03:27It just feels like he makes everyone more chilled.
03:29Anyone he's around.
03:31Yeah.
03:31He relaxes them all, you know?
03:33And so, you know, we might see them start to sort of get at each other a little bit.
03:37Any conversation you saw him get in on, he always would dispel any tension.

03:44It's like all the excitement.
03:45I would love to know what Jack thinks about Martin going, but only because I think Jack
03:49is quiet and also a chill guy.

03:51He's a calming presence.
03:52Now he's lost the other kind of calming presence in camp.
03:55You've got Lisa, H, Ginge, who were just like so much fun and then Shona also gets in that

10:00cats yet because i know yeah i'm the cats but i will be um calling them today i'm pretty excited
10:08pretty excited honestly ruby you've been an absolute delight to watch in there despite how you treated
10:13them as camp leader your camp mates absolutely adored you take a look at this ruby is just
10:20amazing and we all just love ruby so much she's been like my mom my mom who always always made me
10:30laugh always was my shining star always was there for the best cuddles for the honesty the tough love
10:39everything ruby wax is all that and she's been that for me in here i will never ever forget
10:46my time in here ruby wax ruby's taught me a lot without knowing and i'm i'm thankful for that
10:52actually and hopefully i get to see ruby quite a few times after we get out of here i think the one
10:58camp mate that surprised me getting close to was was ruby wax because i came in here not knowing
11:03anything about her um i thought maybe being american we might clash our our our laughs but
11:09we got on like a house on fire and she is like a it's like a second nana wow
11:15it seemed really getting emotional that's so flattering a second yeah i thought we were kind
11:22of compatriots but no second nana i'll take anything sister not the first but the second
11:28girlfriend how does it feel watching that well heartbroken you know i mean we it's like being
11:34pulled out of the womb i wanted them to cry more i was expecting more out of your way
11:40a little tear he could have faked it he could have faked it you really made you made such an impact in
11:46there but you've seen there i mean it's everyone that you seem to sort of get a real friendship with
11:51and he was so joyous you just created such great friendships it was just an absolute did you
11:57expect to make such good friends no i didn't know i had only the joke was i said is is are we live
12:04because i didn't really understand the show i thought it was i thought it was on a set and you
12:08really feed us and we'd pretend to be starving i didn't realize it's the real thing yeah that you're
12:13giving paper mache you know it's hideous then you adjusted really well then i didn't think it was
12:19like that because you didn't want to come out by the end of it no it's okay i would take the
12:24starvation the cockroaches just to be with those people that's how good they were though you it was
12:29great we saw everyone talks about shona's journey right but no one's really talking about your journey
12:34we from that first episode when you came in where you were like you're starting in my light you were
12:38like very much like that's all right and to someone who's now wanting to go back in there
12:43yeah you really embraced it yeah i mean uh i wasn't expecting that at all i thought it was
12:49be friction and i'd have to pull people off each other so as soon as we had our group meeting which
12:54i don't know if it looked too woo-woo but yeah it was a little woo-woo it was a little woo-woo
13:00but it was great but we didn't care we didn't care we forgot about the cameras i ended up shaving
13:05um lisa oh my god that was amazing no i mean nobody had any inhibitions we just you know you lose it
13:12in there don't you you don't care if they see you're behind no no you know in the beginning i was
13:16quite the lady you had such brilliant friendships why do you think you gravitated towards the younger
13:26ones in camp particularly because your dynamic with them is probably my favorite part of the
13:30camp this year i don't know i mean they were just hilarious to me and me and you know myself in a
13:37rapper you never think that was you know and then suddenly i'm going to drop the mic
13:42bitch you know mega uh because they're teaching me and i'm teaching them you know and then i like
13:49to break them down a little bit so they you know underneath it they're just really adorable boys
13:54yeah not like these tough guys yeah so jinj would kind of open up and his face changes all the time
14:00like he's kind of grotesque with his dead face and then he gets cute with that little boy face
14:07it depends what he's talking about yeah i know what you mean yeah yeah yeah yeah of course tom you
14:12became very close with we saw you oh tom is my type oh it was fantastic yeah you in the lake in the
14:18mornings like the little recording it was liege and milady recording with no protrusions it was
14:25unprotruded but we were in the liquid together and we i got pregnant we had a child unfortunately
14:31mortimer didn't make it
14:33oh god
14:33that was our child i love it i breastfed it was just touching can you say that you can say everything
14:42you just did it's absolutely incredible uh lisa uh you lived with uh with her for for quite a while
14:49in the tree house you danced with tom you bantered with jinj it feels hard to pick who your deepest
14:54connection was with but um i think we've figured it out take a look at this
14:58hi uh hi he's mine yeah we saw kev yeah he's still got a message for ruby because i've shaved
15:08everything i know kev wants me because i'm a lang t good night celebrities it's your boyfriend oh my god

16:28cockroaches on me and wouldn't let me in the jungle that's hard to get ruby i've dropped yeah that's his
16:33way of flirting finished with kev that's it what i threw the ring back and that's it exclusive he's
16:41devastated he can't believe i did he cause any uh issues with the head ride no no he wept as i left
16:47him oh yeah so it's okay he'll go for somebody else did i'd ever get jealous or was he all right were you
16:54jealous no no no that was it well ruby i think you will genuinely go down in history as one of the
17:04most legendary companies i really think that did you expect to enjoy it that much i think i didn't
17:10expect anything i mean i the fact that we were i don't know if it looked woo-woo again but we were
17:15you know we were a family it was almost cultish yeah that every single person came with a different
17:21flavor and so whatever you needed you plug into you know somebody was hilarious then if you wanted
17:27no reaction at all you got jinge then if you wanted somebody with their trousers down below their under
17:32pant line you went to h then if you wanted somebody like calm and soft to anchor you you went to martin
17:39everybody had something everyone had a role there everybody had a role what was your role then i was um
17:45i don't know uh ginger's grandmother he says which is upsetting yeah because i thought at least
17:51the mother the grandmother imagine how insulting you don't like a grandmother at all how do you think
17:59your whole jungle experience has changed you i think that um i realized i could trust people because i'm
18:07not used to trusting a group of people where you catch them and they'd be rolling their eyes or
18:11they'd talk about you you know i think people are duplicitous mostly and now i could go oh people
18:17are adorable yeah you know i could trust this group well you really get to know people really quick in
18:22there don't you because there's no distractions and you're all in the same boat so you really
18:26look into someone's eyes and you chat and you get to know their soul yeah really quick look straight
18:31in their eye and you don't do that in real life yeah tom and i you know the eyes were right in there
18:37if you never spoke and just looked it would be pretty sensational it's really it's pretty
18:42except for your dead face
18:46well uh finally ruby as the sort of queen of interviewing and uh quite an honest critic um how
18:52has this interview gone um it's gone okay but um i like when people throw away the script and we just

20:03let's have a look at your jungle highlights from 2020.

20:44Can you believe it's been five years, Giovanna?

20:51every year since I've loved watching
20:53because now I get to really bore Tom
20:55with the backstage stuff.
20:57And also, it's kind of like reliving
20:59how you felt in those certain moments.

21:03It does totally sort of ruin it
21:05for your partner, doesn't it?
21:06Because you watch it and you're like,
21:08actually, so the trial area there,
21:10and there's a person who comes and speaks to you
21:12and there, and then we do that, you know.

21:15Who are you mates from that year still with?
21:18Oh, there's quite a few of us.
21:21Well, our WhatsApp group is still alive and kicking.

21:24But we have Shane, Jordan, Victoria Derbyshire,

21:30We all have met out for dinner.

21:34So, a lot of us actually still talk,
21:35which five years later,
21:36I feel like that's quite the tribe.

21:39because we've heard from people
21:40who've been in later than you,

21:42how's the WhatsApp chat doing?
21:43They're like, oh, it died.

21:46So, it's a good group you've got there.

21:49Well, it goes through moments where it's quiet,
21:51but at the moment, it's all right.
21:53I guess it picks up every year around this time.

21:56Because everyone's got, like,
21:57stuff to say about, like, this year's camp.
21:58How are you enjoying this year's camp?
22:00Yeah.

22:03I think it's been such a gorgeous group.
22:05And like Ruby said, it feels like a family,
22:07which I think the majority of the years feels like that.
22:10Obviously, sometimes it goes a little bit wrong.
22:12But the majority of the time,
22:14when it's like a family and everyone's getting on,
22:15I think that's when it feels like a real joy to watch.
22:18I wish I could dive in and join in.
22:20The trials have been hilarious.
22:22The different, you know, little quirks
22:25that have gone on have been funny.
22:27Yeah, I've just loved it.
22:28It's the best time of year, I think,
22:29when Amity Lab comes on.

22:32that have made you, like, shout at the television?

22:45I think in life, there's so much that we're trying to juggle.
22:48And the beauty of having those tasks, those duties, those chores,
22:51whatever they're called, is that you have that one thing.
22:53That's all you have to focus on, is that one thing.
22:55So, if your one thing is washing up,
22:57you can wash up as many times as you need to.
23:00Don't just make it once a day.
23:02Like, you need...
23:03The rats came in.
23:04You know, that's what always happens.
23:05So, yeah, I feel like perhaps Ginge wasn't really upset about the washing up,
23:10but it became about the washing up.
23:12Is there any campmates that you think have gone too soon this year?
23:18Ooh!
23:19I mean, Ruby, obviously.
23:20I think that Ruby was hilarious and that she should have absolutely...
23:24Seeing Ruby do Celebrity Cyclone would have made my Christmas.

23:28Oh, yes!

23:30But, Ruby, I do think you should probably just dive in anyway
23:34when you know it's been filmed.

23:37And also, Alex Scott, but it's so hard
23:39because you get so attached to everyone.

23:42I know that everyone has so much more to show
23:44and I've got to say, I've been really surprised by H, actually.
23:47I know he's still in there.
23:49But, yeah, I think everyone else, you kind of, when they go in,
23:52you kind of have an idea of what they're going to be like.
23:55But, yeah, I wish I could just carry on and on and on
23:59because, especially this series, there's so much to see.

24:04Obviously, in your year, you are such a shoulder to cry on.
24:07Who in this year's camp would you lean on?
24:09Oh, Tom.
24:12I think he just talks so eloquently and so beautifully,
24:16no matter what he's talking about.
24:18I feel like he would be a great pillar of support.
24:21I feel like I could listen to him talk about anything.
24:23Oh, it's just, I could listen to him and read a dictionary
24:26and thesaurus all day.
24:27I'm literally hiring him as my therapist.

24:30He's got so much work coming out of this jungle, hasn't he?

40:36We went to a lovely Italian restaurant in Soho.
40:39And, you know, when you sit down for supper and you realise that, oh, gosh, I think I've got to do the lion's share of the talking because I don't think they will.
40:49And then our food came and it looked beautiful.
40:52And I thought, oh, I can just see this lamb shank getting colder and colder and colder.
40:59And finally, I hit upon a subject that really fired him up.
41:04And I thought, oh, bliss, I can eat while he talks.
41:07So I was tearing into it much too fast.
41:10At which point I lodged a piece of lamb in my gullet.
41:14I staggered across the room to the bathroom.
41:18And I saw a vein throbbing on my forehead in the mirror.
41:21You were choking.
41:22And I thought, what am I going to do?
41:23This is going to be my last memory.
41:25So in the end, I did the Heimlich manoeuvre on myself against the wash basin.
41:32I sort of took a little run and hurled myself into the wash basin.
41:37And regurgitated this piece of lamb.
41:40It was awful.
41:46That's the most I've seen Martin laugh, I think.
41:49That was amazing.
41:51I just love those little moments together.
41:55You guys must have been on some bad dates at some point in your lives.
41:58Ruby, have you been on a bad date?
41:59Yeah, I mean, somebody came over once.
42:01And it wasn't who I thought it was.
42:03So he rang the bell and I hit the floor.
42:06And so I crawled around on the floor and he saw me.
