00:00Uzbekistan has unveiled a sweeping package of new renewable storage and grid projects,
00:07many built with leading international energy developers.
00:11During an energy forum in Tashkent, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the launch of 42
00:16new generation storage and infrastructure projects worth 9.46 billion euros, and he also gave the
00:23official start to the construction of 21 more. With these investments coming online, the green
00:29energy output will reach 23 billion kilowatt-hours next year, enough to fully cover the annual
00:35electricity need of the entire population.
00:59The new projects include 16 solar, wind, thermal and hydropower plants, along with 10 large energy
01:09storage systems, energy companies and international financial institutions from several countries,
01:15among them Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Azerbaijan, France, China and others
01:21collaborate with Uzbekistan for these projects. Over recent years, 30 billion euros in foreign
01:41investment has flowed into Uzbekistan's energy sector, raising electricity production from 60 to 85
01:47billion kilowatt-hours since 2017. One of the key points of all those projects, we're pushing efforts
01:55on green energy, on renewable energy. International companies are also expanding their presence in
02:01Uzbekistan's energy market. We have been the largest investors in energy sector, over 15 billion
02:07dollars worth of investments which we have done. The energy mix of Uzbekistan is changing, it's becoming
02:12greener and greener every year. We signed the investment agreement for the first 200 megawatt,
02:17100 megawatt of wind, 100 megawatt of storage, and we'll come afterwards 300 megawatt with wind and solar.
02:24One regional grid has already been transferred to private management and several more will follow
02:38over the next few years. Uzbekistan is entering a new phase of its energy transformation. From solar and
02:45wind stations to modern storage systems and upgraded power grids, the scale of the new and ongoing projects
02:51reflects the country's broader shift towards clearer and more resilient infrastructure.
