Ukrainian drone explodes near border between Romania and Bulgaria, Kyiv promises inquiry

Bulgaria's prime minister said both Bulgarian and Romanian authorities had failed to pick up the drone as it made its way through their respective airspace.

00:06exploded in Bulgarian territory near its border with Romania. A spokesperson for Ukraine's top
00:13diplomat said that Kyiv is in close contact with Sofia and promised to, quote, clarify the incident
00:19after an inquiry. Bulgarian Prime Minister Ruman Radev earlier announced on Saturday that an
00:25explosion occurred after a drone crash shortly after entering its airspace from Romania. It crashed
00:32just one kilometer from the compressor station of the Transbalkan gas pipeline, an international
00:38energy hub connecting Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine. Radev detailed in an address
00:46to the media that the explosion did not result in any casualties as he announced that Romania and
00:51Bulgaria both realized a need for increased surveillance operations after the drone violated
00:57both their airspaces undetected.
