00:00Authorities in Kenya have released a damning report from a parliamentary inquiry
00:05accusing the British Army's training unit in the country of serious human rights violations,
00:11environmental damage and misconduct spanning decades.
00:15The investigation conducted by the Defense Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committee
00:21documented repeated incidents of sexual abuse, including rape and assault,
00:26often followed by abandonment of children fathered by soldiers.
00:31Beyond sexual violence, the report also holds Batouk responsible for environmental destruction,
00:38negligence at handling ordnance and improper disposal of military waste,
00:43leading to injury, death and degradation of local land.
00:47The UK government responded by expressing regret over the findings
00:51and saying it stands ready to investigate new allegations
