Jeremy and Joe discuss the possibility of TE Dalton Kincaid having a lot more to give to the offense.
Transcript
00:00And on Kincaid, you've probably heard it.
00:03Ian Harditz has, he tweeted out a chart yesterday, like,
00:05Kincaid's the number one most efficient tight end in football in terms of, like, yards per target or yards per route run.
00:12Yeah, there's a few of them.
00:13It got me thinking about efficiency.
00:16Like, efficiency is a strange thing in football to talk about because what it can often mean,
00:24like, who's the most efficient?
00:25Because not everybody gets the same opportunity.
00:26And what you're trying to say is, hey, he's the most efficient tight end.
00:30Is another way to say that just, he's the best that isn't used nearly enough?
00:37Why is he efficient?
00:38Well, when they do throw to him, he's awesome.
00:41And they just don't throw to him.
00:43So that's efficient, right?
00:45Right.
00:47What's my goal?
00:48Is my goal efficient or is my goal lucrative, prolific?
00:51Is it just, who cares if it's 10 yards per, would I like 10 yards per catch on 10 catches or 8 yards per catch on 20 catches?
01:00I was going to say, like.
01:01One of those is much more efficient.
01:03Yeah, I think you're going too far with it if you're saying, like, I would rather have.
01:07Efficiency.
01:07Kincaid's efficiency on, what does he have, 40 targets this year, 50 targets this year,
01:13than Trey McBride, who might average a little less than him, but it's on 88 catches.
01:18Right.
01:19Like, which is better?
01:21The dude is doing it with crazy high volume.
01:23I remember this being true about Gabe Davis.
01:25Gabe Davis' first two years, when he wasn't a full-time starter, he was split in time with either Sanders or John Brown.
01:30He was, like, the most efficient receiver in Bill's history, like, the most efficient receiver in the NFL.
01:35Yards per target?
01:37Yards per target, yards per route run even, because he wasn't playing all the time, but he was getting big plays.
01:42Right.
01:42And I remember thinking, like, okay, look how efficient, this dude needs to play more.
01:46And then sometimes, with guys like that, you do play them more, in what happened to Gabe Davis' case.
01:51They turned up the volume, and then the efficiency went way down.
01:54Well, they turned up the volume, and they changed his role.
01:56Because his role became, you know, you're getting tougher competition.
02:00So, sometimes efficiency is, right, we'll go back to it even further back.
02:04Diggs in Minnesota.
02:07Incredible efficiency.
02:09This is a player that needs more, and you'll get more.
02:12And, like, Kincaid, isn't he probably, you need more, you'll just get more.
02:17He's more likely to be the latter.
