Joe Buscaglia explains what the Bills need to do to get Dalton Kincaid going again after a quiet game in weeks 3 and 4.
Transcript
00:00going on with Josh Allen taking knees behind the line of scrimmage uh yeah what's uh what's your
00:06take on the Dalton Kincaid usage which by the way by snap percentage has declined pretty much every
00:12week yeah so I I took a pretty deep dive on this from from a film perspective earlier in the
00:18week
00:19over at the athletic and um it it is jarring to go to see his role and and what it
00:25was to to what
00:26it now has been over the last couple of weeks you know 245 yards is the headliner through two weeks
00:31which is a crazy amount considering that the Bills have never had a tight end go for over 750 yards
00:37which is the most ridiculous stat running right now I just I still can't believe they don't have a
00:41single tight end that has done that um but from a yards per route run perspective through his first
00:48two games he was at 4.69 yards per route run and just to put that in context the only
00:55player running back wide receiver tight end that he was behind in that meant that metric was Jackson
01:02Smith and Jigba who is lighting the world on fire in Seattle like that was what Dalton Kincaid in the
01:09did in the first couple of games but in weeks three and four that yards per route run dropped down
01:14to
01:151.13 from 4.69 to 1.13 and in terms of rank uh throughout the entire league um he
01:22his yards per
01:23route run fell down to 122nd out of 209 qualifying running backs wide receivers and tight ends so the
01:30role is legitimately different because I think of the attention teams are putting on him and also part
01:38of it is the Chargers had someone that could cover him up pretty well in Derwin James and you gotta
01:42tip
01:42your cap to him for that because he's awesome and one of the best to do it uh even though
01:46he's 30 years
01:47old the Patriots though they use the physicality approach on him and that's something that I think
01:53the Bills need to counter especially if they don't have DJ Moore in this game so whether or not it's
01:58you know keeping away keeping him away from being tethered to the to the offensive line as much
02:03maybe drifting him out into space a little bit more I think there's some some value into that um
02:08but also the Rams have a nickel corner uh but in the name of Quentin Lake who drops down and
02:15and is
02:16really good at at one-on-one coverage and has the size to do it against a tight end like
02:21a like a
02:22Dalton Kincaid so that's going to be one of those where they have to get him going and they know
02:26they
02:26have to get him going without more if he's unable to go in this game but yeah this is a
02:31priority for
02:32them because outside of him they don't really have too much in terms of things that are going to scare
02:37teams and I will give him some credit here because I think his him just being on the field opened
02:44things up for Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir I saw that a bunch of times on film but if you
02:50can't get
02:51him going in itself then it's just kind of playing with one arm tied behind your back because he's the
02:56most explosive player that they have on from a passing perspective
02:58perspective
02:58you
