00:18The Philippine Statistics Authority records a slower inflation rate in November.
00:23The inflation rate slowed to 1.5% in November compared to 1.7% in October.
00:31This is within the forecast range of the Banco Central ng Pilipinas or BSP of 1.1 to 1.9%.
00:37The year-to-date inflation in the country was at 1.6%, below the 2 to 4% target range set by the economic managers.
00:45According to Deputy National Statistician Assistant Secretary Divina Gracia del Prado,
00:51the main reason for the slower inflation in November was due to the slowdown in the price increase of food and non-alcoholic beverages,
00:59which is at 0.1%.
01:01According to Department of Economy, Planning and Development or Dep. Dev. Secretary Arsenio Balisakan,
01:07one of the reasons for the slowdown in inflation is the government's intensified price stability efforts
01:13through programs that strengthen the food supply chain and reinforce food security.
01:18To further reduce the effects of inflation, the government will open more sites for the Benteng Bigas Meronab program
01:24across all provinces in the country before the year ends.
01:28The Department of Agriculture, or DA, also issued guidelines to fight the spread of African swine fever
01:35while facilitating safe pork imports, allowing regionalization by recognizing ASF-free zones within TA-accredited exporting countries
01:44permitting imports from these permitted areas.
01:48The government will also automate the registration of qualified members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps
01:55for the lifeline rate subsidy which allowed them to pay for a lower monthly electricity bill
02:00to address the impact of rising electricity prices.
02:04In the long run, once the proposed waste-to-energy bill signed into law,
02:08facilities will be established to manage residual solid waste
02:12and contribute to the country's energy mix by utilizing waste as a feedstock for energy production.
02:19Balisakan also says the government also continues to implement timely policies
02:23to keep prices stable and ensure that every Filipino will fill the nation's development.
