00:43As shown in the 2024 Functional Literacy, Education, and Mass Media Survey or FLAMS
00:50presented by PSA and Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization, Minotech,
00:55Basic Literacy Rate in the country is recorded at 93.1%, higher than 89.7% in 2019.
01:06But when it comes to functional literacy or the ability to read, write, compute, and comprehend,
01:12it shows a lower rate of 70.8%.
01:16This means three out of ten Filipinos are functionally illiterate.

02:18It added that the directive to improve internet connectivity, especially in remote areas, will also alleviate illiteracy.
