00:00The Philippine Statistics Authority or PSA reported an increase in the number of employed Filipinos.
00:06PSA recorded 48.49 million employed Filipinos in January 2025 up from 45.90 million in the
00:15same period of the previous year. The country's unemployment rate also declined to 4.3 percent
00:21this January compared to 4.5 percent in the previous year. Meanwhile, underemployment
00:27dropped to 13.3 percent from 13.7 percent reflecting improvements in job stability and
00:34quality. Under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the government has
00:40prioritized skills development to enhance employability such as the Technical Education
00:46and Skills Development Authority or TESDA certification to over one million Filipinos
00:51in 2024 through various training programs. Other government agencies have also contributed
00:57particularly in technology-related fields to align the workforce with international demands.
01:03The Department of Information and Communications Technology or DICT through its ICT Academy program
01:10has conducted 943 training sessions benefiting over 90,000 government employees.
