00:00"...I actually didn't believe this day would come."
00:02On Fridays, disgraced mogul Harvey Weinstein was officially charged with first and third
00:07degree rape and a criminal sex act in the first degree. Two of his accusers reacted to the news.
00:11Rose McGowan, who was accused Weinstein of raping her and paying her to stay silent,
00:15made three televised appearances Friday to speak about how the arrest and subsequent
00:19charges had affected her. The night before on Thursday, McGowan, a prominent activist
00:23in the MeToo movement, posted about the former producer's impending arrest on Instagram, writing,
00:28"...I and so many of Harvey Weinstein's survivors had given up hope that our rapist would be held
00:33accountable by law. Twenty years ago I swore that I would right this wrong. Today we are one step
00:38closer to justice. May his arrest give hope to all victims and survivors everywhere that are
00:42telling their truths." In a video interview with The Associated Press posted early Friday morning,
00:46McGowan revealed that she is looking forward to attending any of Weinstein's upcoming trials.
00:51"...If I'm allowed to, I will attend," she said. "...and hopefully that will actually heal a lot of the
00:55kind of trauma I get whenever I see his face, or whenever I hear his name, or whenever I have
01:00to read or hear that he says it was consensual." McGowan continued,
01:03"...and I'll get to sit there and I'll get to look at him, and I'll get to be an eye,
01:06and so many other victims will get to look him square in the eye and just by being there
01:11represent the fact that we did not want this."
01:13We did not ask for this. We were just people.
01:18McGowan then made a Friday morning appearance on ABC's Good Morning America, where she spoke about
01:23her visceral need to see Weinstein in handcuffs.
01:26"...I feel shocked. I would say it's just so big," she said.
01:29"...I have to admit I didn't think I would see the day that he would have handcuffs on him."
01:34In addition, she remarked on Weinstein turning himself in on a slow-media holiday weekend Friday.
01:39"...So they did something nice for him that means he has friends in Hyatt places still."
01:42Later in the morning, McGowan tweeted,
01:44"...we got you Harvey Weinstein. We got you."
01:47McGowan also appeared on NBC's Megyn Kelly Today for a lengthy segment where she addressed the
01:51length of time it took for the charges against Weinstein to develop.
01:55"...It's tragic that it takes over a hundred women, and that probably means like a thousand,
02:00let's be real."
02:01She continued,
02:02"...I mean this man had hunting grounds all over the world. He had accomplices and a complicity machine.
02:07He was the cult leader of Hollywood, their king. He tied with God for thanks at the Oscars.
02:12And to see that constantly, and to live in that town, and to see people lay reeds at his feet,
02:16even though they knew, today is a good day." She later added,
02:20"...The man who pinned me down had handcuffs on him today."
02:24Meanwhile, early Friday morning, actress Asia Argento, who accused Weinstein of rape and spoke
02:28out against him in a speech at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, took to Twitter to comment, writing,
02:33"...Today, Harvey Weinstein will take his first step on his inevitable descent to hell.
02:37We, the women, finally have real hope for justice."
02:40Argento and McGowan are two of the more than 80 women who came forward with allegations of sexual
02:45misconduct against Weinstein. At around 7.30 a.m. Eastern Time on Friday, Weinstein turned himself
02:50in to the New York Police Department at the 1st Precinct in Manhattan's Tribeca neighborhood.
02:54Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance filed felony sex crimes charges against Weinstein.
02:58He was arrested by the New York City Police Department shortly thereafter and taken to court.
03:03Bond was set at $10 million on $1 million cash. He delivered on the latter.
03:07Not long after his surrender, Argento tweeted a video of Weinstein's perp walk and asked,
03:11"...What took you so long, Harvey?"
03:12Women's rights attorney Gloria Allred, who has represented a number of Weinstein's accusers,
03:17reacted to his arrest in a statement to THR on Friday morning.
03:20"...I represent many accusers of Harvey Weinstein, both in lawsuits and in claims in bankruptcy court.
03:25It is long overdue for him to be required to face the bar of justice, but that day has finally
03:30come at Allred. I commend the courage of all those who have come forward and who have had the courage
03:34to speak their truth to a rich, powerful, famous man. We look forward to a just result."
