Post-match press conference with Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim after their 1-1 draw with West Ham United at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Diogo Dalot put United ahead on 58 minutes, reacting quickest after Casemiro’s effort dropped loose in the box. West Ham equalised in the 83rd minute when Soungoutou Magassa scored from a corner following Jarrod Bowen’s near post flick. United were again punished for not securing a second goal after taking the lead, with a late set piece proving costly.

Amorim reflects on his side losing too many second balls after scoring and expresses frustration at conceding from a corner against a taller West Ham side. He stresses how small details changed the outcome, admits United “need to score more goals” and remain “inconsistent”, and discusses why he made adjustments to regain control late in the match. He also references recent leads let slip and says the team must improve their duels, focus and concentration to turn performances into wins as they look to climb the Premier League table.

00:00I think five changes overall for them were defensive players who came on.
00:04I know it probably didn't have the impact that you wanted,
00:06but in hindsight, would you not have been that conservative when you were 1-0 up?
00:11No.
00:12We are losing because of the second ball.
00:15Sometimes there's not more men in front that you are going to win the ball.
00:20We had more men to put in the offense.
00:23Who?
00:24Who would be more offensive?
00:27Yes, it was the second ball and I was worried with Mateus.
00:36I know that Bruno reached the box really well.
00:40Mason Mount is playing in this position.
00:43So they were trying to push us.
00:45Brian has a lot of pace to try to win the ball in one transition.
00:51So that was my idea.
