Erling Haaland brought up his 100th Premier League goal in just 111 games, the fastest century in the competition’s history, opening the scoring before Tijjani Reijnders and a Phil Foden brace put City in control, with a deflected Sander Berge own goal adding a fifth early in the second half. Emile Smith Rowe pulled one back before half time, Alex Iwobi struck after the break and substitute Samuel Chukwueze scored twice to drag Fulham from 5-1 down to 5-4 in a frantic finale.
Guardiola admits the closing stages were “just a question of survival” as City struggled to defend the edge of the box and control the chaos, saying they “left it to luck” at times. He reflects on Haaland’s record numbers and calls him “the most important player we have” alongside Rodri, praises the impact of new signings like Reijnders and Ryan Cherki, and insists the Premier League title race is “so long” as City chase Arsenal. Pep also talks about watching “more the watch than the game” in a wild nine goal contest and hails the atmosphere at Fulham’s “magnificent” traditional stadium.
