00:00The main goal of this meeting is to get teams for showcase items, which are these really
00:13big items that I guess are worth a lot of points and need teams of engineers or makeshift
00:18engineers.
00:19And I want to gather people.
00:20I want to make people feel also welcome to come here.
00:22We have a lot of regulars, but we also had a few people in earlier today who had never
00:28even done scab before, they popped in and were like, hey, can we help with anything?
00:32We are stepping back from feeling the need to contest every item, go to every event because
00:39they are there.
00:41We're here to have some fun.
00:42We are picking out our favorite items and doing as much as we possibly can on the things that
00:50are the most fun.
00:51The amount of energy that people have spent talking about the goddamn car is driving me
00:55nuts, right?
00:56I want to just plan to inflate a car, then drive it over firecrackers to blow it up,
01:01rather than spending endless hours on the telephone trying to figure out how to go somewhere
01:05and blow up a car.
01:06If we do this tonight, and we are, yeah, will you guys win?
01:10Or is there a good chance?
01:11There is a strong chance.
01:13Strong chance.
01:14I have never fired, I've never been touched a gun before.
01:23He's never shot a gun, and he organized it.
01:26I would like to try it.
01:27It's empty.
01:28My parents are not going to be pleased.
01:30Oh, okay.
01:31They are a dumbass.
01:32We've done this before.
01:33My buddy's already been over there.
01:34He cleaned out the car.
01:35We're going to mix all this together.
01:36And this stuff is very, very safe.
01:37Oh, because it's a binary.
01:38It will not go off until you hit it with a high-powered gun.
01:39Gotcha.
01:40We're mixing the howling targets.
01:41It's a binary explosive, so you have two substances that are very stable together.
01:56And then when you mix them and add high heat in this case, which is going to be done through
02:02a bullet, that energy can be released.
02:05It's like a ramen packet.
02:07That's the only thing a college student would know.
02:11Hello.
02:12Hello, Mr. Judge.
02:13We are preparing our car detonation.
02:16Oh, my God.
02:17Amazing.
02:18And for South, yes?
02:19Yes, for South.
02:20For South.
02:21One, two, four.
02:22And they still have to go.
02:23Pull it to your shoulder.
02:25And then get your face all the way down.
02:27You want your cheek here.
02:28It's not going to kick.
02:29So just take it.
02:30It's still on safety.
02:31You just kind of get used to aiming down the sights.
02:34This is the safety here.
02:35You flip it down.
02:36Good.
02:37OK.
02:38Now remember what I said.
02:39Put your finger on there.
02:40Don't pull it.
02:41Squeeze it.
02:43Whew.
02:44That's a lot of kick.
02:45Yeah, it's a lot harder than I thought it would be.
02:49Feel better?
02:50Yeah.
02:51Feels better.
02:52Good.
02:53You're getting confident.
02:54And I'll be afraid of it.
02:55Yeah!
02:57Yeah!
02:58Yeah!
02:59Yes!
03:00Oh, man.
03:01Can you do better if you miss a good time?
03:02Because then it's like, oh!
03:03Yes!
03:04Yes!
03:05Yes!
03:06Yes!
03:07Yes!
03:08Yes!
03:09Yes!
03:10Yes!
03:11Yes!
03:12Yes!
03:13Yes!
03:14Yes!
03:15Yes!
03:16Yes!
03:17Yes!
03:18Yes!
03:19Yes!
03:20It's perfect game, for any of them, dude.
03:21Oh!
03:22Are we good to go down range?
03:23Yeah!
03:24Yeah!
03:25Get in, let's go show the judges the damage!
03:27Here we are!
03:27Oh!
03:28Oh!
03:29H突it!
03:30H突it!
03:31Oh!
03:32That's messed up!
03:33We flew out the roof.
03:35Everything's gone.
03:36Full car!
03:36Yes!
03:37ám!
03:38It's been done!
03:39Congratulations, Sal!
03:40That was insane!
03:419am judgment!
03:42Sal better be first.
03:43I'll see ya there.
03:44Everyone get into the podcast.
03:50Everyone get into the chat.
03:52Wait, I don't have a computer.
03:54I don't have a computer.
03:55Yeah, everybody watch it on the computer.
03:57Oh, my god.
03:58Welcome in, everybody.
04:00We have exploded a car.
04:02We have good news.
04:03It's done.
04:04Wait, it's done?
04:05What?
04:06You already did it?
04:07What size car?
04:08It's an SUV.
04:10Wait, a full SUV?
04:12You floated a full SUV?
04:14We blew out the roof.
04:16Oh, my god.
04:17Oh, shit.
04:19Wait, wait, wait.
04:20Yeah, so please send all the video you'll have.
04:23We will send all the videos,
04:25but we need to get back to HQ and get to bed.
04:28We'll see you guys.
04:29Have a good night.
04:31Okay.
04:42So this is for an item.
04:54I don't know.
04:55The description was not very specific.
04:56That was like, for every team that can convince us one member of your team stabbed them, you get 29.5 points.
05:02So I've been, yeah, stabbing people on video.
05:06Logistically, we don't meaningfully have the person hours or expertise to get every item or as many items as we could aim for done.
05:17So we're switching to something that is going to be more doable and more fulfilling in the doing.
05:22Item 26.
05:23Yeah.
05:24A four of comfort characters.
05:27How about a doja strap for the portrait of our universal discomfort character?
05:32Robert Simmer.
05:34Broken heart emoji.
05:37Robert Simmer, former president of the University of Chicago.
05:41Now deceased.
05:42Now deceased.
05:43Now revived.
05:44Now revived.
05:45Now revived.
05:46And soon to be shrouded.
05:48I will admit it feels to me a little like a weight has been lifted.
05:53I have been doing my best to push through this scav at times.
05:59And so I'm going to be happy to just sit down, have some fun with my friends.
06:04This is what got me into scav in the first place.
06:06And it feels good to sort of have a return to that.
06:09President Doge Robert Simmer.
06:12Get over here.
06:14We know you attempted a coup against our Republic of the University of Chicago.
06:19And thus, we are condemning you to the...
06:22No!
06:23To the Latin punishment of In Glorium Gemnatas.
06:26Now be gone.
06:27Get under this shroud, for we shall never see nor speak of your face again.
06:31Yes.
06:32Yes.
06:33Whatever.
06:34All right.
06:35Excellent.
06:36Okay.
06:37And that is the completion.
06:39I think some other teams are going to be really picking up the base, trying to get
06:43a lot of items done, finish up showcases, finish up big items, which are often recipes for
06:52an overambitious initial idea, leading to a sort of emotional catastrophe come Saturday night,
07:00when things are not coming together in time.
07:02I am glad to not be headed towards a repeat of that.
07:05I am not currently doing anything.
07:21My job is to help whoever needs help right now, which is probably going to be help on
07:25a showcase item.
07:36Um...
07:37So first thing first, what's the plan on sleeping tonight?
07:39I am not going to bed tonight.
07:41It seemed like the ride downstairs was a success.
07:45Is it a little bit of a relief now that we're kind of done with this aspect?
07:50Uh, nope.
07:51This...
07:52Scam never lets up.
07:53Um, we now have to focus on showcase items and blowing up that goddamn car.
07:58We, like, basically make a drawing with small firecrackers and then let them in fire and
08:02it tries it.
08:03I think that's a good mix of a lot of effort, the amount of return we're going to get.
08:07Because I think, like, that's good.
08:09It'll be showy.
08:10But like it, we'll get some points.
08:11We've been talking the entire time about blowing up a car.
08:15We went through a million iterations and then the last thing we settled on was I have
08:19some firecrackers and that we could trace the outline of a car and fill the holes with
08:24firecrackers and then light them so they all detonated in sequence to make the pattern
08:29of a car.
08:30I am...
08:31I am putting my foot down.
08:32This is what we're doing.
08:33We are not going any more explosive or complicated than this because I have to make meat gummy bears,
08:38a chalkboard that I can slam a judge's head into, and something else that I'm forgetting.
08:44Right now, this is the electronics for the compass and the compass.
08:49All the electronics stuff takes a really, really long time.
08:52The main reason is just I don't know how to do any of this.
08:55I'm kind of driving it in first principles as I go.
08:57But it's all a long process of debugging and figuring everything out as I'm doing it.
09:06It's very important.
09:08We specifically not buff right now, but I'm going to give you six tasks.
09:12And then we're going to make a game profile for them.
09:15Yeah.
09:16It's going to be great.
09:17Reverse centered, mixing a better water table.
09:19So, um, essentially the task is that we have, like, the ability to change, uh, the levels
09:30in the water table in, like, certain interactive ways.
09:34So we should cut up to, like, here.
09:36This will be a photo booth with different settings.
09:41We probably could have finished this about 20 minutes ago.
09:44If we were, like, awake.
09:45But we've got, like, we've got time.
09:48It's a good thing we didn't start doing this part.
09:50I don't, I don't understand this drawing.
09:53What is this?
09:54There's another circle.
09:55What's another circle?
09:56I don't know.
09:57It's straight, straight.
09:58Nothing there.
09:59Okay.
10:00And what about a windshield?
10:01Do we want to add some, like, a little, oh, I guess this, that's what this.
10:04That's what that is.
10:05That's what that's supposed to be.
10:06I don't know if that'll look like a windshield, though.
10:15I actually have not looked at the clock in the last 30 minutes, but it's after 1am.
10:33Uh...
10:34It's 2.15.
10:35Clearly, the night is long and running quickly.
10:42Things are going well.
10:43It's very busy in here, which is great.
10:46I walked in and there was a whole group of people.
10:47It was lovely.
10:48I really enjoyed watching the spreadsheet and have our items unassigned keep dwindling and items finished keep rising.
10:55So, I'm feeling good about the amount of stuff that we've got completed.
10:59It's a little scary that we have to start doing things at 9am tomorrow.
11:02I'm like, that's really not that far away.
11:05My plan is to try and tackle some of the smaller, like, 10, 20-point items, if there's some of those left.
11:12So, we'll see how it goes.
11:14Uh, for scav-themed fashion design sketches, I have here the candy of scav is red vines.
11:22Nobody knows why, but we gotta have red vines.
11:26And so, I have made a sketch of a wrap dress made entirely of red vines.
11:32And these are five points each, so I am going to try to churn out at least one more of these,
11:40because that's really easy points, um, to get at the last minute.
11:45Who are we?
11:47South Scav!
11:48What do we want?
11:49South Scav!
11:50South Scav!
11:51When do we want it?
11:52South Scav!
11:53You can't resist!
11:54Yeah, you can't!
11:55I think we're all still riding the high of the exploding car.
12:00Yeah, I think we have good odds of winning this year.
12:03Um, you know, if not first place, at least second or third.
12:07But certainly, I think first is on the table.
12:09Item, uh, 265.
12:11If there's one thing we hate, it's when a bunch of slow walkers block out the entire width of the sidewalk,
12:17making it impossible to pass them without stepping off the sidewalk,
12:20and thereby slowing down everything for everyone behind them.
12:23So, we are turning the center of UChicago's main quad, which is like a little circular pathway, into a roundabout.
12:29Hello!
12:30We've installed new traffic laws.
12:31This is the roundabout now.
12:32Thank you!
12:33We actually have to go around the roundabout.
12:35Thank you!
12:36Hey!
12:37People are following the laws!
12:38Oh my God, I love that!
12:39This is beautiful!
12:40No, no, no, no!
12:41Wrong way!
12:42No!
12:43You're crashing into other cars.
12:44You are causing traffic and accidents to the car.
12:57Okay.
12:58I think we call it a day, right?
13:00Like, they claim the ownership of the moon.
13:02How?
13:03They own the moon now.
13:04What do you mean?
13:05What do you mean?
13:06What does that mean?
13:07Toa Baloo!
13:08That they are now honorary stewards of the moon.
13:11What?
13:12What?
13:13I think...
13:14Wait, wait, wait, wait!
13:15Okay.
13:16Wait!
13:17We just got a message in the Discord server that the North Campus team has ownership of the moon now.
13:23They have received documentation from the government of Tuvalu that they are now honorary stewards of the moon for 24 hours.
13:32The item does not say ownership of the moon.
13:34It says the moon.
13:35It says the moon.
13:36They do not have the moon.
13:37Yeah.
13:38You need...
13:39That means...
13:40That implies you need to have it, like, a tangible moon.
13:42Like, the moon.
13:43You need to have it...
13:44You need to have it.
13:45It's right there.
13:46Wow.
13:47Yeah, it's right there.
13:48Like, can I just grab it and just, like, tell the Duchess, hey.
13:50Do we eat the moon?
13:52Okay.
13:53Item 214.
13:54The moon.
13:5550 septillion points.
13:57You know, what I was hoping for was that I would step outside of Ida Noyes and honestly be immediately obliterated by the gravity of the moon.
14:07Now, what I hoped for in, uh, absence of that was a pile of moon rocks, which I would have then weighed against the actual weight of the moon to determine how many of 50 septillion points they got.
14:20North reached out to the small island nation of, uh, Tuvalu and asked them to be granted legal ownership of the moon.
14:28This is crucial that it was Tuvalu because Tuvalu did not sign the space treaty that declared any celestial objects to be unable to be claimed by humans.
14:37And what do you think did turn the points from?
14:39I mean, I'm gonna be honest, it's not 50 septillion.
14:43But, I mean, this was a very impressive find.
14:46It was a pretty good loophole, um, of not just the item itself, but also international law.
14:51I have to reward that sort of genius.
14:53Oh look, oh look!
15:03Beep, beep, beep!
15:05Beep, beep, beep!
15:06Oh god, you can tell it's almost 5 in the morning.
15:15Okay, so...
15:16I'm gonna drink another monster energy.
15:18Yeah, yeah, I think we all need it.
15:21ack- Huh.
15:30Oh that compares to the sun and air from it!
15:31Why am I doing this?
15:35What..what..what is this?
15:37What does my life come to?
15:39I'm just very cold.
16:03Why cold?
16:06That's a great question.
16:07I'm not sure my body and my mind are connected anymore.
16:12I think at this point, people are telling me to do something and I'm doing it and that's about where I am.
16:20So our plan is to set this up on sawhorses.
16:24We'll have somebody like present it.
16:26I don't know who's going to present it.
16:27And then a couple of others of us will hide behind it.
16:31We'll put something so you can't tell we're hiding and then we'll light all the shit on fire.
16:35And we'll all have ear protection.
16:36I spent three items on this item.
16:40Four items on this item.
16:43It's fairly walking.
16:44It's doing three hours and past that.
16:47This is the profile completed.
16:50So, you know, starting with the snack picture.
16:55He can take a mirror selfie.
16:58Oh, he can do the cooking and the cleaning.
17:00Any matches here?
17:04No, not yet.
17:05But we'll look.
17:06We'll wait.
17:07This is the Horny Bop-It.
17:08Horny Bop-It is, like, honestly, like a 15-hour project.
17:12Every part of the hardware works, which is the hard part.
17:14I just need to debug the game logic and turn up the sound volume.
17:18And we're good.
17:20Oh.
17:22Oh, she didn't like that.
17:28Okay.
17:28Trust me.
17:30I like it.
17:31Okay.
17:32It's still really quiet.
17:34I think the Bop-It speaker just isn't that great.
17:36I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, all in all.
17:38Plus, it's only 6.30, which means I have an hour and a half to debug the other thing.
17:41Because this works.
17:43I'm not touching this anymore.
17:45You want to be the explosive carrier?
17:46Sure.
17:47I think that's maybe a one-person job.
17:49Yeah.
17:49Okay.
17:50Yeah.
17:50Are we good?
17:51Okay, friends.
17:52We heading out?
17:54We have a car.
17:55We have lighters, headphones.
17:58We have that.
17:59We have a boom-boom cup.
17:59We have salt, we have tape.
18:01We'll yell at Eli.
18:02Eli!
18:02Eli!
18:03Eli!
18:03Eli!
18:04Eli.
18:06Eli.
18:07Eli.
18:16Sorry.
18:18Uh, it's...
18:19It's been a half hour.
18:20It's been a half hour.
18:21It's been a half hour.
18:22Yeah.
18:23Yeah.
18:24Yeah.
18:24We have the thing wrapped for you.
18:27That's very good.
18:28So, our people won't be okay, but...
18:31That's good.
18:32Why are you waiting for something there?
18:34Yeah.
18:35Oh, yeah.
18:36It goes on to the floor, right?
18:37Oh, yeah.
18:38It goes on to the floor, right?
18:39All right.
18:41Shit.
18:42Ah!
18:42The morning bop-it.
18:43I'm so glad it's working out.
18:45Guys, what if we made a morning bop-it?
18:47What's up, man?
18:48Now let's go for the first part.
18:50Wait a minute.
18:51Let's go for the first part.
18:52Followed.
18:53Let's go for the first part.
18:53The pro strat is going to be, uh, lying down, like, longways, and then...
18:58Oh, like...
18:59We're moving a big line.
19:00It's like a log...
19:01Yeah.
19:02...make a really big log in that...
19:04The biggest hill in Chicago, right here.
19:08It may as well be.
19:10It says five more...
19:12One of the...
19:14Oh, no, Linda.
19:16Okay, all right, all right.
19:18Five, four, three, two, one, roll.
19:22Ah, I cannot hold on to your angle, Phoenix, I'm sorry.
19:26Come on, come on.
19:28What, why are we stuck?
19:34Five, four, three, two, one, roll slow, slow, slow, slow, slow.
19:46Ah, I disconnected.
19:48Rolling in five, four, three, two, one, go.
19:54Roll.
19:56Roll.
19:58Roll.
20:00Did I do this?
20:02Did I do it?
20:03I did it.
20:04Yeah.
20:05Let's fucking go!
20:06Yeah.
20:07Okay.
20:08Yeah, we're gonna do that again.
20:09Awesome.
20:10Okay.
20:11All right.
20:13All right.
20:16Let's go.
20:22All right.
20:23All right.
20:25I feel sick, I feel tired, I feel ready for some demolition derby.
20:37I have the...
20:38We have three minutes left.
20:39We're in agreement this is train washing, right?
20:41Oh, one trillion percent.
20:44Okay, cool.
20:45One trillion percent, but this is the most fun thing I've ever done.
20:50Awesome.
20:51Well, I mean, how do you...
20:52What do you mean train washing?
20:54I'm completing a challenge in the literal sense, not the spirit of a stone.
20:57Okay, I get you.
20:59Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one.
21:09Oh, that sounds like a...
21:12Ow!
21:13Ow!
21:14Ow!
21:15Two of this one!
21:20Two of the big one!
21:22I ain't even where they are!
21:23Get it from the side!
21:25Wow!
21:26Oh my God!
21:27Oh my God!
21:28Oh my God!
21:29Oh my God!
21:30Oh my God!
21:31Oh my God!
21:32Oh my God!
21:33Oh my God!
21:34Oh my God!
21:35Oh my God!
21:36Not quite as explosive as we expected.
21:37We did.
21:38We did the judge of the press.
21:39But they were, okay.
21:40I mean...
21:41I think we got something going.
21:42Looks better, right?
21:43And like, there's still a lot of unexploded car, but like, I don't even know what they were
21:50doing.
21:51Like, why did we give those fools...
21:52Oh, sorry.
21:53You were one of them.
21:54Blowtorches.
21:55Sorry.
21:56Why did we give somebody blowtorches?
21:57I mean, how hard were you working back there?
21:59What even did you do?
22:00Like, how many things did you light on fire?
22:02I was trying.
22:03I just...
22:04I know, I know, I know.
22:05It should say that it was a digital submission because it was a digital submission.
22:18I'm just going to copy it into our drive, just for safekeeping.
22:21Sure.
22:22Yep.
22:23We're slowly working through all the items.
22:29We have a lot fewer physical items than I thought we would.
22:34A lot more of the items that we have done at least are either events or digital submissions.
22:43I'm working on one of the showcase items, an arcade cabinet that plays a game about the
22:50arcade architectural feature.
22:54Gabe is working on the coating for that up in his room, and I'm working on the physical cabinet.
23:05I wish I had a drill, but I don't, so we're using hammer.
23:08I don't have a lot of time to be fixing this, but...
23:12Worst case scenario, I can ship it like this.
23:15It's not drastic.
23:17It would just be better if I didn't.
23:21Most items are judged at judgment, which is normal judgment.
23:26But there are a few big ticket items that are judged immediately beforehand.
23:31There are four items on this list.
23:33You can choose a maximum of two.
23:35So showcase are some of these bigger items that if you want to win, you really have to do at least one of them.
23:40Yeah, I guess send Gabe over if he decides to show up.
23:45We had fun!
23:46We had fun!
23:47We had fun!
23:48We had fun!
24:05We had fun!
24:23We want the list!
24:24We want the list!
24:25We want the list!
24:26We want the list!
24:27We want the list!
24:28We want the list!
24:29We want the list!
24:30We want the list!
24:31We want the list!
24:32We want the list!
24:33We want the list!
24:34We want the list!
24:35We want two lists!
24:36We want three lists!
24:37We want two lists!
24:38We want two lists!
24:39We want two lists!
24:40We want two lists!
24:41We want two lists!
24:42We want two lists!
24:43We want two lists!
24:44We want two lists!
24:45We want three lists!
24:46We want two lists!
24:47We want two lists!
24:48We want two lists!
24:49We want three lists!
24:50We want two lists!
24:51We want two lists!
24:52We want two lists!
24:53We are going to start over there, and we're going to make our way over there.
25:14Judgment Day begins bright and early at 9 a.m. with Showcase.
25:18So those are the larger, more engineering-type items.
25:22They require much more preparation than a typical item, and they require something to be built.
25:34I only have one Showcase item because the maximum was two, and we decided as a team that our efforts were better spent elsewhere.
25:42I was in charge of physical construction for our arcade cabinet.
25:47Gabe was in charge of all the technology.
25:49I'm here. I have my half.
25:53I don't think Gabe's awake right now.
25:55I don't know when he's going to wake up.
25:57He said he would be awake at 8.30. It's 9.30 right now.
26:00So, I'm very worried.
26:04It's not much of a Showcase item without it. I'll say that.
26:07This is our sensory photo booth. It's the sensory booth Showcase.
26:22It is an artisanally crafted experience, so please take your time.
26:28I was pretty happy with Max P's. The outside of the photo booth was very nice.
26:32Once I was inside, there were four buttons. I only pressed one of them and heard a balloon pop,
26:37but the other judges who went in got some wind effect, I think, and some feathers,
26:40which is very respectable for sensory effects.
26:43All of the photos were hands-drawn.
26:45There weren't four photos in a strip together, but I think that's okay.
26:49I think they did quite well, even if some of it wasn't quite automated.
26:53Look!
26:57It's literally how I look.
27:00What's our second Showcase?
27:02The water table?
27:03Okay.
27:03Water table?
27:04Water table somewhere in that direction that he can help you with.
27:14Hi, everyone. This is Max Pileski's Chicago water table.
27:18I'd have to say that Max P's water table was a little bit of a disappointment.
27:23So, more water than usual flows from Lake Huron into Lake Michigan,
27:28and the water levels rise.
27:35That's warm.
27:36Is it going?
27:37I think it's not right.
27:39I'm trying to make sure you don't drop this.
27:40Is it going at all?
27:41No, I just think that there is like pairs.
27:44Okay, you know what?
27:45What it does?
27:45You know what it does?
27:46Is it going at all?
27:47Is it going at all?
27:48Is it going at all?
27:51I feel like I was very clear that I didn't want a scabby-powered interactive elements,
27:56and that is very much what theirs was.
27:59I wouldn't call it necessarily a train wash, but it's close to a train wash,
28:04which is not ideal for a Showcase.
28:06It's very self-explanatory.
28:07Let's go back.
28:08What are we going to do?
28:09That way.
28:10Backtracking to the order we were in before.
28:13Do you need us to come back to you?
28:14That would be good.
28:15All right.
28:16I woke up late.
28:17We have to finish the Showcase item.
28:18It's an arcade machine that does something with statues or whatever, arches.
28:20We'll see.
28:21Hopefully it works.
28:22The house is nearly out here.
28:23Not really.
28:25I don't know.
28:26I don't know, but if I drop this on my camera, don't I say it.
28:29That's great.
28:30This is the tree.
28:31It's the tree.
28:32Oh, my god.
28:33So I'm gonna get rid of it.
28:34Oh, that's what's up.
28:35It's the Attorney's Arche.
28:36So you're doing a RC?
28:37All right.
28:38Do you need us to come back to you?
28:39That would be good.
28:40You got us.
28:41All right.
28:42I woke up late.
28:43Not really.
28:45Just put something below this.
28:47What?
28:49I don't know, but if I drop this, all my shit's going to fall.
28:51No.
28:53Just nail it.
28:55Just nail it.
29:07Wait.
29:09This is my, uh...
29:15Hi, y'all. Hello.
29:17This is my, uh, arcade machine.
29:19It was originally supposed to be a little more ambitious,
29:21but learning, like, a new game engine at 3 in the morning
29:23was a little also ambitious.
29:25So, um, instead, I kind of just whipped up, like, a web game,
29:28and it's just, like, Subway Surfers-ish.
29:30There are lots of books, and, because it said novel,
29:32so I thought it'd be a funny pun.
29:34So every time you press a page, it's like a book turning.
29:36Oh, shit. What happened here?
29:37Power went out?
29:39Give me a second.
29:40Did my computer die?
29:41That's going to be tragic.
29:43I think my computer died,
29:44because I had to charge my phone for my alarm,
29:45which never went off.
29:48I will see if we can charge my computer.
29:50Thank you all for your patience.
29:56Don't have...
29:57I need to charge my monitor, too,
29:58so I'm trying to figure this all out.
30:00Please charge.
30:03I could really... I wish this charges.
30:05No!
30:06workshop!
30:14No!
30:15評.
30:16Welcome, to the Suts Automated reading Yesterday!
30:17And, honestly, brought this upon yourselves.
30:21It is the official dish of SCAB.
30:22Please enjoy.
30:23Please enjoy.
30:30We are pleased to present to you our maiden voyage of our photo booth rocket.
30:36Vision Control to Ground Control, are you ready?
30:38Yes, yes.
30:39Paradox, this is Vision.
30:46Smoke.
30:53Oh my god.
31:03This is alabari.
31:05No, no, no.
31:06The best of that.
31:07No, you know what?
31:08I did.
31:09This is out of battery.
31:10This block is battery.
31:11It's running out fast.
31:12Hope this is okay.
31:13It has a blinking warning symbol, but it can't be that bad.
31:18Oh, is this off?
31:21Yeah, fuck.
31:23That seems to be on.
31:24Is the screen on?
31:25Oh, shit, it's on.
31:26Finally, it's working.
31:27And I'll be the guy behind the arcade machine making it work, I guess.
31:35Can we get a bit of the spiel on what you're doing for the arcade game?
31:39So my original idea was subway surfers, but all the obstacles are arches, and we're just
31:43running through arches for a while.
31:44But it should still work.
31:46It's a proof of concept.
31:47Okay.
31:48What controller?
31:49You could use arrow keys or WASD.
31:51Oh.
31:52And every time you press a button, it will be like flipping a book, because it's a novel
31:55game.
31:56Oh, wow.
31:57Okay, that's really interesting.
31:59South's arcade game was a very clever interpretation of my wording.
32:03I wanted to make sure that teams didn't use an existing video game that had arches in
32:08it, and so I included the word novel.
32:10And I really appreciated the way that they put novels into the game itself.
32:16Oh.
32:17I am not very good at this.
32:18No, the perspective is like totally buffed up.
32:20Are you?
32:21Oh, my God.
32:22All right.
32:23Okay.
32:24No, this is, it looks great.
32:25I'm really pleased.
32:26Thank you, babe.
32:27Woo!
32:28Woo!
32:29Woo!
32:30Woo!
32:31Woo!
32:32Woo!
32:33Woo!
32:34Woo!
32:35Woo!
32:36Woo!
32:37Woo!
32:38Woo!
32:39Woo!
32:40Woo!
32:41Woo!
32:42Woo!
32:43Woo!
32:44Woo!
32:45Woo!
32:46Woo!
32:47The way judgment works is that the teams are all set up around this big room, and they'll
32:51call over judges.
32:52We all have clipboards with numbers, and we'll just judge the page right there on the spot,
32:56and they'll show us what items we have.
33:04This is my first time as captain at judgment, and so it was an intense time, but it was a good
33:10time.
33:11It was good to get glimpses of everybody else's items, as well as to be able to show off what
33:17we've been working on here.
33:19We've recovered from Herculaneum, the traces of the rustic unseal showing its authenticity
33:26shining through, and we have presented our translation of these items.
33:32Every judge was a scavi once and has the same sort of enthusiasm.
33:37When we do something incredible because it's very fun for us, it's often also very fun for
33:43the judge, and it was fun to see that play out.
33:45No!
33:46No!
33:47Saint George won't protect me!
33:48Yeah!
33:49Ah!
33:50Ah!
33:51Ah!
33:52Ah!
33:53Yes!
33:54Yes!
33:55Ah!
33:56Ah!
33:57Ah!
33:58Ah!
34:00Ah!
34:01when i walk into the judgment room after showcase i'm not feeling great i'm really dejected by
34:13what had happened earlier at showcase but when i look at our items at our table that's full of
34:18items i am a little bit relieved i think we really did do some good work like laying across the
34:26ground the hugest pair of styrofoam antlers you've ever seen judge destiny who was in charge of the
34:32antler task was so impressed by our antlers
34:37and i'm like okay maybe we do have some sort of competitive edge just not a joke case
35:06i think that journey went pretty well every year gone so far it's been so chaotic something's
35:16happening you can't try to get this one to that organizing all the other items especially since
35:21the series completed more items than we ever have i believe keeping track of like 10 items per page
35:27and keeping track of where it is it was digital it was resubmitted it was an event
35:32even if it's here it was really complicated constant running running around looking at a judge
35:38wow
35:41wow
35:48oh
35:53we're all birds yeah birds would be into this
36:04yeah warm fuzzies for first time scabbies or first time warm fuzziers
36:11the stone of triumph and the stone of shame are eight very old scab items they're over there they're the big rocks that have chains attached to them
36:29oh i was wondering what those are i want stone of triumph to arianne and cy for snorlax for this incredible completion
36:40i don't know triumph to all of our first years this was great thank y'all for yeah yeah you guys uh have left me confidence that i will be leaving scab in good hands when i graduate
36:51uh stone of triumph to lee for being an incredible co-captain there were lots of times when i was like exhausted or crashing out sometimes uh and you were always there to be able to pick up the war room so thank you
37:09uh could not have made it through without you i'm incredible you were such an incredible captain you put so much into it and thank you for like teaching d and stuff
37:22it was very it was amazing to watch and i hope this was like a good not last year off but last year off for like three years
37:29one of my big concerns this year was making sure to run scav in such a way that snitchcock scav can continue to happen
37:45i think i've done that i am confident we had a great group of people this year and a new a new hands to carry the torch
37:51looking back i think this scav was overall very successful obviously we don't know like points wise
38:01how successful but i think both as a collective team and also as a captain's group and management team we
38:10learned a lot about how to run a team effectively i think south and max p are the really main two contenders
38:21i think like the lois boys and gash could potentially be up there i think we left it all out there today i
38:27don't i don't think there was anything else we could have done there's a little bit of disorganization but
38:31that's kind of inevitable once you're thrown into scav there's nothing that can save you from chaos so
38:37i'm i'm really happy with how how we performed this year scab this year was completely unlike how i could have
38:46ever imagined in so many different ways like up and down and up and down through the you know the great
38:54moments where there were a lot of people and then through the slower moments where you're unsure if
38:58we're even going to place at all but i never could have imagined that it would be like that i would
39:04definitely call this year a success whether that's the it's the kind of success that's going to get
39:10reflected at results or not i don't know but that is not the only type of uh success we had a lot of fun
39:18and that's what really matters
39:20i'm holding when i'm holding last year's like prize from winning and it is just a badly printed 3d ball
39:28and it's a scav that's all we got in dragon roots any predictions on what this year's prize could be
39:36i'm hoping this year's prize might be like a cube
39:50welcome to results as yeah
40:14could one of you hand me the prizes for first second third this is going to be a ways away but i just want to
40:20put them in my pocket in 12th place we have the breakfast club
40:29in 11th place we have snell hitchcock
40:41in 10th place we have a team with a name i'm not sure i want to say on camera but they have been very
40:49very strong in doing it so in solidarity blowjob
40:59davin reed i have north and the chicago twinker
41:05fifth place is where it really gets interesting because i'm going to start reading the point values off
41:09in fifth place with one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven points we have
41:19gash
41:25in fourth place with one thousand nine hundred and fifty four points
41:30and now we can get into third place who with two thousand one hundred and fifty eight points and a
41:51really big pair of antlers
41:56this is south in third place
42:05in second place with two thousand three hundred and ninety four points we have
42:17the lois boys
42:25in first place with two thousand six hundred and forty six points um which is a lot is
42:34and i'm gonna pull a blowjob here um max
42:39and
42:48and
42:51and
42:55and
42:59So as you guys know, you've won and you've earned a 64 gigabyte flash drive, but in addition
43:22to that, I'm going to give you about 15 seconds on this mic to spread your team message and
43:28say whatever you want.
43:30This game, have fun!
43:35This isn't about the competition, it's about fun.
43:39Call your mom.
43:45We have fun!
43:50We have fun!
43:52We have fun!
43:59We have fun!
44:01We have fun!
44:05It was really exciting, it was super special to get to win and I think that even more importantly
44:15than winning myself, it's so fun to see your friends put in all that effort and get something
44:20out of it.
44:21The hard work is really good.
44:22Oh, 100%.
44:23So was it.
44:24So was it.
44:25The sweetest life here is like so awesome.
44:27For us, with all of the challenges that we had, this scav, for us all to come together
44:33and have gotten up to third place was really, really cool and we were all really over the
44:38moon.
44:39It was a really, really fun moment.
44:41We won a 16 gigabyte flash drive.
44:45Bread.
44:46That's fun.
44:47Let's see what bread is.
44:48Oh God.
44:49Is there anything else you'd like to say?
44:54I don't care if you can see this, Max P-Captains, I think it was lazy of you guys to reuse the
44:58same pun two years in a row and I do think it was funny, but as with many other things,
45:02the funniness decreases exponentially and if you really want to make another Max genitalia
45:07that starts with a pee joke again, Max penis is right there.
45:11Yeah, but I love you guys.
45:14I'm pretty proud.
45:15I mean, we blew up a car.
45:17What the hell?
45:18Like when else are people going to be able to blow up cars?
45:20This is an impossible task.
45:22It is not only an impossible task, it is 360 impossible tasks.
45:26You do them in four days because it's fun and you figure it out.
45:31It's cliche, but to show you that if you set your mind to something, you really can do it.
45:36Every item on the list is something absurd.
45:39It's something wild.
45:40It's something weird.
45:41You can't do the entire list by yourself.
45:43You have to do it with the team.
45:45It's really great to just be in community with lovely, lovely people.
45:48I was reminded by Scav, the humanity of people and that a friend is just an acquaintance
45:53you haven't met yet.
45:54We are at the end of the day, we're all humans and that we all just want to have fun sometimes.
45:59Scav is the things we're making and doing, but it's also really important to me like the people who are doing it.
46:07It's important to me that that doesn't get lost in the chaos of everything that we're doing,
46:12that ultimately this has been an incredible time to spend with some incredible people.
46:18Let's go.
46:19Let's go.
46:20Let's go.
