00:00To anyone who does not like my body, I don't care.
00:10My name is Nikki.
00:12I do little fun TikTok videos.
00:14I'm going to strunt my stuff.
00:17But I get a lot of backlash because of me being fat.
00:22I love you.
00:23I love you.
00:24I love you more.
00:25I want to give my son the world,
00:28and I can't give him the world from a chair.
00:30He doesn't deserve the fat mom.
00:32I'm sorry.
00:34I got to lose weight now.
00:37I'm disappointed because I don't think you have any real idea how unhealthy you are.
00:43You're going to rob your child of his mother.
00:45Yes, sir.
00:49There you go.
00:50This whole journey is about to, like, legit start.
00:55There's a baddie inside.
00:56We wait to come out.
00:57Bend the standing leg, and then take the other leg up.
01:01Raise that left leg up.
01:02Oh, it's so awkward.
01:04You all right?
01:05I was thinking how skinny they were and how pretty they were,
01:08and then, like, I can't do this anymore.
01:13I've cheated a lot.
01:15I'm feeling kind of ashamed, disappointed.
01:18It's going to be okay, baby.
01:20I'm going to give up.
01:21I just, like, I'm done.
01:38Hey, babe.
01:39Yes, sweetie?
01:40I was kind of thinking, um, pa-pow.
01:44Wow.
01:46I was thinking bold.
01:48Edgy.
01:48Sassy.
01:49Yeah.
01:50I don't care anymore.
01:51I was thinking something with a little more clothing.
01:54Wrong with what I got on.
01:56I mean, there's nothing for what you got on in the bedroom, but...
02:01My name is Nikki.
02:02I'm 30 years old.
02:04I live in Carnesville, Georgia, with my husband, Derek, and my son, Ryan.
02:11Are you going to be able to dance in that one?
02:13Um, probably not.
02:15I do little fun TikTok videos.
02:18You can be plus size and beautiful.
02:20About body positivity.
02:22No makeup.
02:24Ba-bam.
02:26Ba-bam.
02:27All right, babe, you ready?
02:29I'm ready.
02:31Ooh.
02:31What do you think?
02:33I like it.
02:34I feel sexy.
02:36I feel fierce.
02:38The last time that I posted a video, I got a lot of backlash.
02:43There's a lot of people out in this world who just do not like confident plus size people.
02:48They were saying I was disgusting.
02:51Like, it hurt my feelings.
02:53I even had direct messages.
02:55Not just comments on the video.
02:57Ready to make a video?
02:59Let's go.
03:01All that stuff bothered me, but I let it go for a while.
03:10Look at you go.
03:12There we go.
03:14To anyone who does not like my body, I don't care.
03:20I'm going to strunt my stuff.
03:23All right, I'm nervous.
03:30Yeah, I think Nikki posts all her videos to come off as strong, but deep down, I don't think she's truly happy.
03:39Don't be it.
03:41Uh, I'm sorry, hold on.
03:51Well, what's making you upset and sad?
03:53I'm scared.
03:55Yeah.
03:56That's understandable.
03:59Tell them why you're scared.
04:03There's a lot of mean people.
04:05Yeah.
04:13I hate being this size.
04:19Growing up, I've always been a larger frame.
04:22We never really learned to eat healthy.
04:27Then as a teenager, I don't know exactly how much I weighed, but I felt beautiful.
04:33I was still thick, but I was able to function.
04:36And I played softball until I was about 17.
04:41I mean, I was a little plus size, but I was really good at it.
04:44Like, really good.
04:46Until that day.
04:47The day.
04:49So I was running from first to second base.
04:51And I tore my hamstring and pulled tendons.
04:56It was probably due to my weight.
05:02I never played again.
05:04That was my last time I stepped on the field.
05:06I started feeling really sad.
05:18And so I gained a significant amount of weight in a small time.
05:25And then one day I was like, boom, I have to help buy a whole new wardrobe.
05:28And I can't shop at those stores anymore.
05:30I actually got to shop at this store.
05:32And I'm like, wow, this sucks.
05:36Hey, babe.
05:37Yes, sweetie.
05:38Can you come help me?
05:39Being my size is definitely starting to affect the day in and day outs of life.
05:45Derek does do a lot.
05:49He puts my shoes on.
05:51He helps me put my bra on.
05:53Like, I can't really reach behind and clasp it.
05:56There you go.
05:57Thanks.
05:58I don't know if you need anything else.
06:00Doing all these things, especially after coming home from a long day at work, it's just exhausting.
06:09And sometimes it puts a little bit of a stress on our relationship.
06:13But we get through it.
06:15I love her.
06:15She loves me.
06:17Hey, babe.
06:18Yo.
06:19Can you come help me for a second, please?
06:22There's things that men shouldn't have to do.
06:25For instance, during the time of the month.
06:29What's up, babe?
06:30I can't pull the tampon out.
06:37I need you to help me.
06:47It's very degrading, and I just don't want to talk about it anymore.
06:55I've tried a lot of diets.
06:58Fasting.
06:59Intermediate fasting.
07:01I've tried eating, like, once a day.
07:03That didn't work.
07:05I've tried everything.
07:08You want to throw it to you, or you want to throw it to me?
07:10All right, you got to under throw it, okay?
07:13Are you ready?
07:14I'm a mama to a five-year-old little boy.
07:17His name is Brian.
07:18All right, you ready?
07:21Yeah!
07:22You did it!
07:24He's adopted.
07:25We've tried with having our own.
07:27But the extra weight can really affect your fertility.
07:32Go get the ball, silly.
07:33Mommy's not running.
07:34Hold it.
07:36Brian is the most sweetest little boy, but I have extreme high blood pressure.
07:43Joint pain.
07:45And I can't walk without my back hurting.
07:47Mommy's going to sit down because Mommy's getting tired, okay?
07:50Yeah.
07:50Okay.
07:54Brian's going to start baseball real soon.
07:56He got his little baseball gloves and his little helmet and everything.
07:59I was like, oh.
08:02I want to coach my son's team one day.
08:04And I physically can't do that because of my weight.
08:09Show Mommy your wink.
08:10Wink at me.
08:11I love you.
08:12I love you.
08:12I love you more.
08:13I love you.
08:16You did so good.
08:18I want to experience those things with him and not just sit on the bleachers.
08:23I mean, the dugout is only, like, so big.
08:25And, you know, I take up a lot of space.
08:29I'm not going to risk falling on the floor because of the floor.
08:58I can't do this anymore.
09:01Because of my weight, I thought the floor was going to collapse out from under my feet.
09:05Being a mom and not being able to give your child a bath, it sucks.
09:12Enough's enough.
09:17Babe, you ready for dinner?
09:19We got us some Mexican for dinner.
09:21I don't go anywhere anymore.
09:27I can't go to certain restaurants.
09:28I'm scared of nothing that's going to fit because I don't know if the booths move or if the booths are bolted down to the ground.
09:34You can call off Waffle House because I ain't getting in there.
09:38Even though they have really good food.
09:40I've been thinking a lot about how much I actually know that I can't do that I want to do.
09:50Yeah.
09:51I was kind of thinking, you know, looking more into that doctor in Atlanta.
10:00Okay.
10:00Yeah, I might actually reach out and see about the surgery.
10:06Okay.
10:10I love you.
10:11Yeah.
10:11Here I am packing to see Dr. Proctor.
10:25I'm excited.
10:27This whole journey is about to, like, legit start, you know?
10:31Like, I'm going to go see the cute doctor, you know?
10:34Dr. Proctor.
10:35Can I say he's cute?
10:37Yeah.
10:46Nervous yet?
10:48Yeah.
10:49I'm really nervous, actually.
10:50Yeah, I got a lot of questions I want to ask him.
10:53I love stuff.
10:54I hope he's nice.
10:57You're not the first person he's probably done, so you're in good hands.
11:02I hope so.
11:03I am so ready for biotric surgery.
11:08I'm, like, I want it tomorrow.
11:10Let's do it.
11:16Brian doesn't deserve the fat mom, you know?
11:19He deserves a mom that can run with him and be unstoppable.
11:25I want Brian to be like, you know what?
11:26My mom has got it together.
11:30Get closer.
11:31Closer.
11:31Yeah.
11:33Hey, guys.
11:34Hey, how are you?
11:35Good.
11:35I'm Dr. Charlie Proctor.
11:36How are you?
11:37Nice to meet you.
11:38Derek.
11:38Nice to meet you.
11:38Derek, nice to meet you.
11:40So, what can I do for you?
11:41How can I help you today?
11:44Go and get some weight loss surgery, hopefully.
11:47Um, yeah.
11:49So, why now?
11:50Um, well, I have a son.
11:52And I've realized that, for instance, this Christmas, I want to sit on the floor with him and open presents.
11:59And I can't.
12:01So, next year, I want to be able to do that.
12:04And be able to go do things with him, of course.
12:06Uh, ride rides.
12:07Go to the beach, football game, anything.
12:12Yeah.
12:13It's important.
12:14Um, I have three boys also.
12:16I'll tell you that this is a time in their lives that you're not going to get back.
12:20It's going to go like a flash.
12:22And the more time you can buy with them at this age, uh, every moment is precious.
12:28And you don't want to watch it go by.
12:30No.
12:31I don't.
12:32Yeah.
12:34Nikki is losing out.
12:35She's losing every single day the things that she wants to do with that child.
12:39And it's simply because of her weight.
12:41If we can't do something about this right now, she's going to lose those years.
12:45And she's going to lose years from her life.
12:48It's time to hop on the scale and see where we are.
12:52All righty.
12:55I don't know how much weight I've gained.
12:58So, I am terrified.
13:01That's the only word I can think of.
13:03Terrified.
13:06Whenever you're ready.
13:20Oh, you got it.
13:21There.
13:22Raise that left leg up.
13:23Pull it forward to the pole.
13:25All right.
13:25I feel awkward.
13:26You all right?
13:27I was thinking how skinny they were and how pretty they were.
13:30And then, like, I just, I'm done.
13:34Every time I've tried to lose weight, it's been a total bust.
13:38I'll get me some chicken nuggets.
13:40I've cheated a lot.
13:41I'm going to give up.
13:42So, I'm pretty defeated.
13:50It's time to hop on the scale and see where we are.
13:54All righty.
13:55I don't know exactly how much I weigh, but if I stay this big for even a couple more years,
14:01I'm going to start getting diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea.
14:06I'm 30, and I have a five-year-old son, so I don't want to have those and him still be little
14:11and me can't do anything.
14:14But all I can see is the numbers just climbing higher and higher.
14:18470.
14:26Is that what you expected?
14:29Not really.
14:30That's all right.
14:40What we're going to work towards is doing bariatric surgery.
14:46But first, I'm going to give you a goal of coming back in a month.
14:49I want to see you down 40 pounds.
14:54Really?
14:54Yeah.
14:5540?
14:56Yeah.
14:57This is serious.
14:59Because you've got a son at home who thinks you're the greatest person in the entire world,
15:03and he's going to want you to be there for a long, long time.
15:06He's the best.
15:09So, we've got to get to work.
15:11We have a team that we're going to involve with this that are going to tell you the kind
15:17of things that you need to do, the dietary lifestyle changes, and show you how to do that.
15:22You've got to go clean the refrigerator out.
15:24The whole thing.
15:25You know, you joke, but it wouldn't be a bad idea.
15:28No.
15:29I've learned I have to lose 40 pounds in a month.
15:34That's going to be really hard, but I think I got it.
15:37Well, listen, guys, it was wonderful to meet you.
15:39Nice to meet you.
15:40See you soon.
15:41Bye now.
15:42Bye.
15:42Bye.
15:44Before you bow.
15:45Before you bow.
15:45Before you bow.
15:45Before you bow.
15:46One more.
15:47I'll help you.
15:49Okay.
16:02All right, guys.
16:03Are you ready?
16:03Are you ready for this?
16:04I'm going to show you what's in my fridge.
16:08I have some yummy yogurts in here that, I mean, I don't really know if I'm going to
16:12survive on yogurt, but I'm definitely going to give it my best shot.
16:16And when I got a sweet tooth, I go for my unsweetened applesauce.
16:21It's pretty good.
16:23When Dr. Potter told me I had to lose 40 pounds in a month, my brain was like,
16:28that's going to be really hard.
16:33We'll see.
16:38Doing a little afternoon walk?
16:44Say hi.
16:46There you go.
16:49You can do it.
16:50I don't like exercising at all, but Derek's here with me.
17:01He's always supported me in anything, so I think this is just going to be something else
17:04that he can support me in.
17:05And obviously, he could lose some weight as well.
17:08So this is great for him, too.
17:11Oh, God.
17:12This is harder than it looks.
17:17I'm done.
17:28So I've been on my diet for about a week, eating a whole lot of healthy food options.
17:34I went walking once or twice, but I haven't really been exercising.
17:40I don't like your typical gym.
17:42I like fun and exciting things.
17:44I'm playful.
17:45I'm flirty and try to be that sexy person for my husband.
17:50So right now, I'm about to try a really fun pole dancing class.
17:54I love to be able to try new things.
17:56Right then and there, it's spice.
17:59Hi.
17:59I'm Nikki.
18:00Nice to meet you.
18:00Oh, nice to meet you, Nikki.
18:01I'm here for the session.
18:03Yes, we've been expecting you.
18:05Okay.
18:05So are you ready to go?
18:06Yes.
18:07Just follow me to the back here.
18:08We do get women of her size in our classes, absolutely.
18:14Okay.
18:15There's usually concerns about, am I going to be the largest person in class?
18:19Is everyone going to be looking at me?
18:21So we just try to reassure all women that it's not weight that makes you sexy.
18:26It's inside that makes you sexy.
18:28Okay.
18:28So Nikki, so tell us, why did you want to try pole dancing?
18:32Well, I've always wanted to.
18:35Okay.
18:36But honestly, I heard it was a really good workout.
18:39Awesome.
18:40Being on the pole is the same thing as a gym, except your equipment is upright.
18:44Holy cow.
18:47These instructors, they're really skinny and really pretty.
18:51Next to them, I don't feel sexy.
18:55I mean, I think I'm pretty, but I think I'm pretty from here up.
18:59Oh, eh.
19:01Oh, somewhere.
19:02Maybe like here.
19:03All right.
19:04So come to behind your pole.
19:06Oh, behind it.
19:07Oh, Lord.
19:08And you can have both hands on the pole.
19:08Okay.
19:09Feel nice and secure.
19:11All right.
19:12So we're thrusting forward.
19:13To the side.
19:15Back.
19:16And side.
19:18Nice little hip roll.
19:20You got it.
19:20Yes.
19:21Bend the standing leg and then take the other leg up.
19:25Pole.
19:25You got it.
19:25There.
19:26Raise that left leg up.
19:27Bring it up.
19:28Yes.
19:30All right.
19:31So take those hands down the side of your face.
19:33Down your shoulders.
19:35Melt it all the way down.
19:37Yes.
19:38Okay.
19:39And roll those wrists the opposite way.
19:41Yes.
19:41You got it.
19:42Yes.
19:43Yes.
19:44Now you're going to roll those shoulders.
19:45Bring them forward.
19:46Up through your ears.
19:48Back and down.
19:49Nice big shoulder rolls.
19:53I don't feel the sexiness yet.
19:56It's coming.
19:56That's okay.
19:57It's coming.
19:57This is the warm-up version of the sexiness.
19:59Okay.
20:01You're going to bring your chest forward to the pole.
20:03And then drop that chest back.
20:05Oh, this is awkward for me.
20:07So awkward.
20:08It's okay.
20:08It's okay.
20:11I look huge, guys.
20:15You look great.
20:16Oh, you're going to make me cry.
20:19All right.
20:19It's a little awkward.
20:20It's a little awkward.
20:20Okay.
20:21It's okay.
20:21It's okay.
20:21So bring it back to neutral, and we're going to go the other way, because we've got to do
20:25both sides, right?
20:28You all right?
20:30It's okay.
20:31You're okay.
20:32I know it's hard initially.
20:39What part are you feeling awkward about?
20:43Looking at myself now, and then, like, looking at you guys, because y'all are so pretty.
20:50But you're very pretty.
20:51So prettiness comes from within.
20:54It really doesn't come based on a size.
20:58We always think of sexiness as an aura.
21:00And aura always comes from within.
21:03There are women of all sizes who have no confidence whatsoever.
21:07And so just try to be like, you know, I just don't care.
21:09This is me.
21:10This is who I am.
21:11This is where I'm at today.
21:12And I love where I'm at today and where I'm going.
21:18Like, I know I'm pretty, but, like, I want to feel pretty, like, all the time with no ifs,
21:25ands, buts about it.
21:26You know, I have 40 pounds to lose.
21:27And my goal seems like a super impossible task.
21:34I have a long way to go.
21:39How has your month been?
21:41I realized that I am an emotional eater.
21:44So there was a lot of cheat days.
21:47I'm really nervous.
21:48I'm just in shock.
21:52This is going to put you in an early grave.
22:02I went and got food.
22:04I got us two chicken sandwiches and some fries.
22:08Oh, okay.
22:09Yeah.
22:09So I have my weigh-in coming up, and it's not going to be great.
22:18I feel like every time I drive past a fast food restaurant, I'm like, let's stop.
22:22Who's going to numb my feeling?
22:24I don't know.
22:28I've cheated a lot.
22:29My failed pole dancing class definitely pushed me over the edge.
22:37I felt defeated, and I went through the drive-thru, and I got my favorite meal.
22:44I'll get me some chicken nuggets.
22:46Right now, I'm feeling kind of bad and ashamed, disappointed.
22:59I'm going to give up because I've already failed.
23:03So I have an approval appointment coming up, and if I'm disappointed in myself, if I step
23:10on that scale and it's not exactly what we want to see, you know, everyone else is going
23:15to be disappointed, even the doctor.
23:16Yeah, I'm feeling pretty defeated.
23:35The doctor's ready for you.
23:38I'm super nervous for my approval appointment for surgery.
23:42I'm crossing fingers, crossing toes, praying that even the little amount that I did was
23:51enough.
23:52We'll see.
23:56Nikki, how are you?
23:57Hi, good.
23:58How are you?
23:58Good.
23:58It's good to see you again.
23:59Good.
24:00You here by yourself today?
24:01Yes.
24:02By myself.
24:02I suppose it's been a month.
24:05Mm-hmm.
24:06Wow.
24:07How's your month been?
24:08I realized that I am an emotional eater in this month.
24:14So there was a lot of cheat days.
24:17I feel like you're trying to tell me you're not going to make weight.
24:20I'm really nervous.
24:24This was my shot.
24:26I met you a month ago.
24:28You were 470 pounds.
24:30Yes.
24:31I told you I wanted you to lose 40 pounds in a month.
24:35Let's see where we are.
24:36Gosh.
24:37All right.
24:39Whenever you're ready.
24:56493 pounds.
24:58Mm-hmm.
25:00You've actually gained 23 pounds in the last month.
25:07Seeing 493 on the scale, I am kind of in shock.
25:15I wasn't prepared to see 23-pound weight gain difference.
25:21Can I have a tissue?
25:23Yeah.
25:24Yeah, thank you.
25:25Sure.
25:27Put it right there.
25:29I don't know if I'm disappointed or just in shock.
25:32I give patients these weight loss goals so they can prove to themselves
25:37that they can meet a goal, that they can have a bit of a success.
25:41I don't know when I've ever seen a patient come in after a weight loss challenge
25:45having instead gained 23 pounds.
25:48I really don't even know how to react to that.
25:52I know you're disappointed.
25:53I'm disappointed in myself.
25:55You're going to rob your child of his mother.
25:58No, I'm not.
25:59Yeah, the way you're going, you are.
26:01Because I'm going to do it if you give me a chance.
26:04Okay.
26:04This is where it gets real.
26:05This is where you decide if you want to live.
26:09This is where you decide who you want your son to grow up with.
26:13I think you really need some psychological support on this.
26:17Things are always going to come up in life.
26:19We've got to figure out a different way to deal with it
26:20because this, this is just going to put you in an early grave.
26:26I don't want to die.
26:26Now I want to see you die.
26:35I'll give you another month to lose 40 pounds.
26:37Same goal, one extra month.
26:39So moving forward, there will be no more bad foods in the house.
26:53Bye-bye cupcakes.
26:55Bye-bye donut.
26:56Are you going to miss the chocolate chips?
26:58Yeah.
26:59Kind of flipping out a little bit.
27:01Just a little, just a little bit.
27:02Bye cheesecake.
27:04Bye.
27:06Everything.
27:10What are you doing?
27:20I'm throwing away all this junk food.
27:22Why?
27:23How am I going to lose any weight
27:25if I'm eating donuts?
27:29When I didn't make my first weight goal,
27:31it was devastating to everybody and myself.
27:34Dr. Prater was disappointed in me.
27:36After talking with Dr. Prater's psychiatrist,
27:39it definitely feels like a wake-up call.
27:41I know that now I have to put my big girl panties on
27:44and start over and do it again.
27:46You see this, all this.
27:48Sorry, Nara.
27:49Say bye.
27:49Say bye, girl.
27:50Say bye to the...
27:51Chips.
27:52Mama's getting rid of all the chips and cookies.
27:57Bye-bye.
27:59For now on, there's no more bad food in this house.
28:01All right, we all are going to go burn.
28:04Burn, baby, burn.
28:05Bye-bye cupcakes.
28:07Bye-bye donut.
28:08Say bye-bye donut.
28:10Bye-bye donut.
28:11Bye-bye chocolate chips.
28:13Are you going to miss the chocolate chips?
28:15Yep.
28:16Are you going to miss the ramen noodle?
28:17Yeah.
28:18But you know it's good
28:19because Mommy needs to lose weight, right?
28:20So Mommy can get approved for surgery.
28:22Yep.
28:23When I get surgery,
28:25I'm going to become that badass softball mom
28:28so he can see it.
28:29Bye-bye.
28:29Say bye-bye.
28:30Bye-bye.
28:31All right.
28:32Brian's going to be like,
28:33Mommy, I'm so proud of you.
28:34That's going to be the best day ever.
28:37Bye cheesecake.
28:38Bye.
28:40Everything.
28:41Everything.
28:41I can do this and I will.
28:47So I didn't make my first weight goal.
28:50My second approval appointment with Dr. Proctor.
28:52It was in two weeks.
28:54So I'm kind of flipping out a little bit.
28:56Just a little bit.
28:58But you know,
28:59I'm going to give it my best shot.
29:01I want to slay it.
29:02Good evening.
29:09Welcome to Baby's Kitchen.
29:12Or I should say Nikki's Kitchen.
29:14Oh, yeah.
29:18Gonna eat so healthy.
29:21Feeling excited
29:22because I've really been doing
29:23what I'm supposed to be doing.
29:25Diet.
29:26I've been drinking water.
29:27I've been walking.
29:30I've been working out.
29:34And when I feel overwhelmed
29:37or mad sad
29:38or any kind of major emotion,
29:41I'll just write in my new cute journals
29:43that my therapist gave me
29:45and see if it can help calm me down
29:48instead of food.
29:57Hi, Dr. Proctor.
29:59Hey, Karen.
30:00You have that Zoom appointment
30:02with Nikki Etheridge
30:03to approve her for surgery.
30:06Appreciate it.
30:08All right.
30:10Nikki.
30:12Hi.
30:13Hey, can you hear me?
30:14How are you?
30:15I'm wonderful.
30:16How have things been going
30:17since we last met?
30:19Great.
30:20Good.
30:21Walking and drinking water
30:23and eating everything I'm supposed to.
30:25Where do you think you are?
30:26You think you've lost weight?
30:28I mean, I definitely think I've lost weight,
30:29but we're going to find out.
30:32Yeah.
30:33You got a scale there?
30:35Yeah, hold on.
30:35Let's see what we can do.
30:37Dr. Proctor originally gave me a goal
30:39to lose 40 pounds in a month.
30:41So I didn't make my first weight goal.
30:43He's like, you know,
30:44I'm going to give you another chance.
30:45You got a second chance.
30:47I have been checking at home,
30:48but it kind of fluctuates.
30:51So I really don't know how much I weigh.
30:54I'm nervous.
30:54All right.
30:57Are you ready?
30:58I'm ready.
30:59Let's see.
31:00What on goes?
31:03I see it.
31:05I can see it.
31:06You're at 460 pounds.
31:09That's a huge turnaround.
31:10I am 460 pounds.
31:11That's fantastic.
31:13You've put a lot of effort in this,
31:16but you didn't completely meet the goal that I gave you.
31:21But you made some amazing changes in your life,
31:23and there's going to be some collateral good
31:25come from this.
31:27You are going to make incredible changes
31:29in your son's life,
31:30so let's take this momentum
31:31and let's move forward with your surgery.
31:34Yeah!
31:35Okay.
31:36Congratulations, Nikki.
31:37Oh, my gosh.
31:39I was not expecting him to say that.
31:41That's shocking.
31:44I'm very thankful,
31:45and if this ain't motivation,
31:47I don't know what is.
31:48You put the work in.
31:49You've shown the effort.
31:50I'm excited for you.
31:52Even though she didn't hit that 40-pound weight loss goal,
31:55she was close,
31:56and I'm more impressed with the mental turnaround
31:58that she's made.
31:59That's what tells me
32:00she's ready to move forward with surgery.
32:02I'll float her those last seven pounds,
32:03and she'll have to make it up for me on the other end.
32:06Congratulations.
32:07I'm excited for you.
32:08This is going to be a huge new thing for your life.
32:11Yes!
32:12Let's get going on it, okay?
32:13Thank you!
32:15Bye now.
32:25I think I packed enough stuff.
32:28Probably.
32:29You always do.
32:31I overpack.
32:40It's the morning of my weight loss surgery,
32:42and I'm feeling all different kind of emotions.
32:47Happy, sad, scared.
32:50It's all in one.
32:54I'm starting to freak out inside.
32:56Just think, you're going to come out,
33:03you're going to be a totally different woman,
33:05healthier for your son,
33:07for us, and for yourself.
33:09What if my body doesn't handle it well?
33:13It will.
33:15I'm really scared of, like, the whole thing.
33:17It's going to be okay, baby.
33:20I am terrified.
33:22I'm scared I'm going to die on the table,
33:24or I'm scared I'm going to go home
33:25and, like, two days later,
33:27have a blood clot.
33:28I want to live and be around for my son.
33:33I'm sorry.
33:33Just make sure Brian knows how much mama loves him.
33:44I will.
33:45I'm so afraid of being a part of my son.
33:58You said?
34:01I think so.
34:02A little nervous?
34:03Oh, yeah.
34:03I'm feeling something wrong with you.
34:04You're not nervous.
34:05You're going to do great.
34:06I'll go find you in a little while, okay?
34:07Please.
34:08Weight loss surgery means freedom.
34:10Everything.
34:10to walking down the street happily
34:13and not having to carry all the extra weight around.
34:17Being able to sit on the floor and play with my kid,
34:20it means being a great mom.
34:23Anesthesia, are you happy?
34:24Yes.
34:26I need one of the 8-millimeter show cars.
34:30All right, I think we're ready to dock the robot.
34:34Yeah, she's in surgery right now,
34:35and I'm nervous and scared and just ready for her to be out
34:39and everything will be OK.
34:42Will you retract that momentum for me?
34:45She deserves this after all the hard work she put in.
34:48It's going to change everything about our lives.
34:51All right, let's close out great work today.
34:53So we just finished Nikki's surgery,
34:55and everything went really great.
34:57She didn't throw us any curveballs.
34:58Everything went really great.
34:59So now I'm going to go out and talk to her husband.
35:03So we're all done.
35:04She did really well, all taken care of.
35:07Okay, good job.
35:29So about a year ago, I was on social media,
35:31social media and I got a lot of hate.
35:34Negative comments about how I should go eat another burger,
35:39how I should be ashamed of even posting.
35:42But who cares?
35:44Pretty much F the haters.
35:47My motivation for losing weight,
35:49it was really for myself and for my son.
35:53What shirt do you think?
35:54Blue or the black one?
35:55Black.
35:56The black one?
35:57All right.
35:59Everything's definitely changed.
36:01Before, I couldn't sit on the floor or get myself up,
36:04for that matter.
36:05Couldn't even change my own tampon.
36:07I couldn't go to certain restaurants
36:09because I don't know if the booths move.
36:13You ready to take mommy out on her big day?
36:15Yeah.
36:16All right, let's go.
36:18Before, we couldn't go to the movie theaters
36:20unless they had the bigger chairs for the movies
36:23or the arms let up.
36:25Now we don't have to worry about booths
36:27when we go out to dinner.
36:29Since losing the weight, I discover things
36:31that I can do every day.
36:33I can touch my toes or I can clip my own toenails.
36:37I'm trying to walk on the line.
36:39Her confidence is coming back.
36:41Her old self that I married, the old Nikki, is coming back.
36:45It's my life.
36:47Gonna hold me, doing what I was.
36:51When I wanted, it's my life.
36:54Methods, part of your three.
36:55Awesome.
36:56Great, follow me.
37:01When I was at my heaviest, I was at 493.
37:06And I've lost over 250 pounds.
37:09I want to get to about 180, and I think that I can.
37:14Moving forward, I want to go back to school and get my GED.
37:18And I want to go work at an ER as a philbotomist.
37:20And then I want to be the best mom I can be.
37:23Tell a little man how much you've lost.
37:25Like 250 pounds.
37:27What?
37:29That's a what, ain't it?
37:30Mommy's changed a lot since surgery, hasn't she?
37:33You like big mommy or little mommy?
37:34Little mama.
37:36Why?
37:36They can do a lot more things with us.
37:40Like what?
37:40Play baseball.
37:45A year ago, we would go to the baseball field,
37:49and I would have to sit in the car,
37:50because I just physically couldn't do it.
37:53And now, after losing all the weight,
37:55I'm able to get on the field with Derek and Brian.
37:58What?
37:59Woo!
38:00First try.
38:02Go, Nikki!
38:04Woo!
38:05It was really heartwarming to see her running around the bases,
38:10because we have a pickup game every Friday,
38:12and she hasn't come to our game at all.
38:15This is the first time she's come.
38:16And for her to be able to run the bases, not just walk,
38:19but run the bases, it's just awesome.
38:21Good job!
38:23Way to go!
38:24So proud of you.
38:26That was amazing.
38:29She's happy, which makes me happy.
38:31Brian's happy.
38:32I mean, I couldn't ask for more.
38:34As a dad.
38:36Well, that was fun, y'all.
38:38Family hug, family hug.
38:39Family hug.
38:40It was just fun to be there in the moment,
38:42playing with Bron on the field instead of sitting in the car.
38:46And that makes me feel good.
38:48And on top of that, I got a very big surprise for Brian.
38:53Close your eyes.
38:55All right, open them.
38:57What?
38:57All right, Brian, can you read this?
38:58Yeah.
39:00It says, best big bro.
39:02Do you know what that means?
39:03You're going to be a big brother?
39:04Are you serious?
39:04Oh, of course.
39:05Yeah, mommy's serious.
39:06It's a baby in her belly.
39:08I know they tell you after surgery,
39:10you're not supposed to get pregnant
39:11until the doctor releases you or for 12 months.
39:14We weren't really preventing it,
39:16but I never thought that it would happen to me.
39:19But here we are.
39:20I mean, I kind of still don't believe it.
39:23Are you excited?
39:25Want to give it to the baby?
39:26Mmm.
39:29I'll let you help.
39:30We'll give you some options.
39:31How about that?
39:32Okay.
39:33I've tried for so many years,
39:35but the magic key was her losing the weight,
39:37and now we got a baby on the way.
39:40You going to change the cybers?
39:42Yeah, Dad, you have to do the changing necks.
39:45I hope it's a girl.
39:47I want a little sister.
39:50Can I kiss?
39:52I worked really hard to lose this weight,
39:54and I just want people to know that if I can do it,
39:58you can do it, because I was a big self-doubter,
40:01and I just kept pushing.
40:02And I knew that I saw something bigger for myself.
40:05I'm excited about moving forward,
40:07and I'm really excited for the new little one.
40:10Mama, what if you had two babies?
40:12We never know.
40:13Don't wish that upon me.
40:30Next time on Dangerously Obese.
40:32See, I'm out of here.
40:33Ugh.
40:35Oh, my goodness, did the wheel just pop?
40:37I'm Keith.
40:38Everybody calls me KC.
40:39I don't think we both can pull our thigh up in this car.
40:41I'm just saying.
40:42Yeah, I got one leg up.
40:43I'm LaShawn.
40:45We've been married for 11 years.
40:47We like to go experience different types of food.
40:50We don't want to think about every little calorie.
40:53I kind of went overboard with 300 eggs.
40:56You're going to really eat all that?
40:58Whatever.
41:02I know this is kind of difficult to help me pan the foot like this.
41:05It's all right.
41:07It stopped our marriage at a certain point.
41:09This has been really hard, and I don't know what else to do.
41:14I don't have to tell you, you're kind of a ticking time bomb.
41:17Keith may not live another five or six years if he doesn't do something about his weight
41:21very, very quickly.
41:23I'm hitting my two miles.
41:24Why are you starting with five pounds?
41:25I'm doing the best I can.
41:27Biggest fear is my weight is beyond repair.
41:30I don't want to be hooked up to no hoes, you know what I'm saying, on dialysis.
41:35I don't want that to be something to deal with.
41:38I don't want to die.
