00:00That is a picture-perfect postcard
00:12It's paradise paradise on Earth Wow
00:17Huge difference in color from the Pacific to the Caribbean Caribbean ocean is just unmatched
00:23Are there sharks in these woods?
00:30Bocas del Toro an archipelago of tropical islands along the northwest coast of Panama
00:36Ranging from uninhabited natural wonders to the colorful stilted clapboard houses of Bocas town
00:44This has been a proper vengeance story. I think we've seen that growth to first we were in total shock
00:50Yeah, it was quite a few hours which
00:52To really sink in
00:54Competition in the penultimate leg of the race promises to be tight as just 43 minutes separates the top three teams
01:02And for the first time Dylan and Jackie sit in pole position
01:06Don't slip up you've got the pressure of leading the pack now
01:09I like it. We don't want pressure
01:11crumble we crumble
01:13Still after that first place at one point
01:15I've had dreams where I'm like we come first and I'm like shoving Anita and bam
01:23When we first met Dylan, he was a different person to who he is now
01:27Now I feel like he's grown into himself throughout this journey
01:30And now I'm ready to beat him
01:34I was quite gutted when we opened the book. No, you were fuming. I was I was pretty I was pretty mad because I
01:41Felt like we've done so well
01:44How would the top two become the bottom two?
01:46I know. Character building. What's happened?
01:48I think we felt sorry for her
01:51We're not too far behind. We know our strengths and when we start moving way we move we move four legs in
01:59Everyone is hot on it now. Yeah, like everybody's found their ribbons. Obviously. We finished lost
02:05But it's all to play for every man for themselves on this one. You thought we were racing before
02:11Oh, we're on it. We're changing gear. It's gear five now. Two legs to go. Yeah, we race. Yeah
02:27What day
02:29630 a.m
02:33First to leave the checkpoint
02:37Race leaders Dylan and Jackie
02:39Ready? Ready
02:41Your fifth checkpoint is
02:43Medellin
02:44I swear that's Colombia
02:46I think I've seen it in like a Pablo Escobar series
02:49Oh really? I think
02:51Over thirteen hundred kilometres away
02:53Colombia's second largest city Medellin sprawls across the Abura Valley in the northern end of the Andes mountain range
03:01As the epicenter of Pablo Escobar's drug cartel
03:07It was once labelled the murder capital of the world
03:10But now it's a safer and vibrant metropolis
03:14Oh
03:18Okay. All teams have to bypass the Darien Gap
03:22By water
03:24For safety reasons this journey has to be in daylight hours
03:27Darien Gap
03:28I've heard that it can be a bit dangerous
03:30The notorious and perilous Darien Gap
03:34The only land connection between Central and South America
03:38But no roads run through its dense jungle and vast swamps
03:42For tens of thousands of migrants each year
03:45This treacherous expanse
03:48Much of it controlled by criminal gangs
03:50Is their only route north
03:54To reach Colombia
03:55The teams have one option
03:57To travel by sea
04:01But first a chance to explore Panama
04:04Panama's quite a funny shape
04:06It's kind of like a...like a goose neck
04:08There seems to be a main road going through
04:10Yeah, yeah
04:11They may be tempted to grab opportunities in the west
04:14With its allure of well-paid work and hidden natural beauty
04:19Or the adventurers could make a beeline for the east coast
04:24And the secluded, turquoise-ringed islands of Gunayala
04:28Also known as San Blas
04:30An autonomous territory home to the indigenous Gunna people
04:35On the last leg, just being in nature
04:37Gave me a sense of calm
04:39And it would be nice to have a nature feast again
04:43Definitely
04:44Something like hot water springs
04:46Yeah
04:47Waterfalls
04:48Yeah, yeah, yeah, that'd be amazing
04:49So if we go south, maybe, Buquet
04:51There might be like something around there
04:53Yeah
04:54And then follow this big road through to Panama City
04:57Yeah
04:58It's also very difficult to judge whether we have enough money for the whole trip or not
05:03We've hemorrhaged a bit
05:04Yeah
05:05Yeah
05:06With budgets dwindling, Dylan and Jackie have the least amount of money to tackle the longest leg of the race so far
05:13It's just the unknowns of these countries, we don't know
05:18But this is our penultimate leg so I want us to stand in good stead for the last leg by saving in this leg
05:27Here we go
05:29Hola
05:30Hola
05:31To continue their journey, teams need to get off the islands of Bocas del Toro
05:35Boats depart regularly to Almirante, the closest mainland port where they can pick up onward transport
05:42We need to get to Boqueta
05:44Right now it's the Atua
05:46Put a boat to the main island and then bus charter to Boqueta
05:50Would it not be quicker for us to get boat now to Almirante and there's any Almirante travel to Boqueta sooner?
05:58It's possible but it's more expensive
06:00I recommend you go street to Boqueta or Atua
06:03OK
06:04So shall we book it?
06:05Let's book it
06:0630 each, yeah?
06:07Yeah
06:08Rather than risk finding a connection in the port of Almirante
06:11Dillon and Jackie opt for a package deal transfer of boat and bus to Boqueta in the Western Highlands
06:19We could get a quicker ferry but then it's a bit risky
06:23Juggling buses which are not that regular over there from what I can gather
06:26Also it might be more expensive that rain as well
06:29So it makes more sense to wait for three hours
06:32I think it's smart to save money, we can speed up later
06:36While the leaders sit tight
06:38That's where we're headed
06:40Medellin
06:42Oh
06:43Having departed half an hour behind them and now on their tails
06:46Siblings Roman and Harley Moon
06:48This is our last chance for a proper like cultural adventure
06:52Do you know what I mean?
06:53Yeah
06:54Roman found the first few legs quite stressful and I really felt like I had to look after him a lot
06:58But the last leg he's been quite calm so I hope he realises it is fun as well
07:06We're going to have to get the boat from Panama so Mandigua is a tiny island in the direction of Colombia which is good
07:13Yeah
07:15It is home to a single Gooner family
07:17I mean the only thing is I'm an Arsenal fan and I like Gooners
07:21I think we can live in our own bubble at times and travelling somewhere and seeing what their version of life is
07:29I think it offers perspective
07:31The faster we can get to Panama City
07:33The better
07:34Seeking an off the beaten track experience while staying race focused
07:39Roman and Harley Moon plan to head via Panama City straight to Gunayala
07:44Harley
07:46Look
07:47Jackie and Dylan
07:48Can we see them? Yeah
07:49So what's the fastest way to Panama City?
07:52Yeah
07:53I was hoping not to see another team
07:55Yeah
07:57So our best bet is to get to Almirante
07:59Yes
08:00And then get the bus to Panama
08:02Yeah, let's just get off this island
08:04Can we get two tickets?
08:05Two tickets?
08:06Six
08:07Gracias
08:08They're getting on the boat
08:10But I don't think we should be stressed by it
08:13Yeah, we shouldn't sweat about that
08:15Why are they not getting on this boat off the island?
08:18I can still see them
08:20Why are they not getting off?
08:21Give them away
08:23Poodles
08:25Bye
08:26Adios Roman and Harley
08:28We'll see you in Median
08:31I hope
08:32Technically, it feels like we're ahead of the team at the first
08:35Yeah
08:36Here we go
08:37Ruta Mas Rapido
08:39Got it? Yep
08:40One, two, three
08:42As the siblings make a quick getaway
08:45Just 12 minutes behind them
08:47So my instinct is
08:49We take a job
08:50Anita and Bal
08:51Eager to find ways to preserve their budget
08:54Worker shift at Roxy's in Boca Chica
08:56Down here
08:57Yeah
08:58And then you're by the main road
09:00Yeah
09:01To get to Panama City
09:02Panama is mega bucks
09:04And so saving money is definitely part of the strategy
09:07Because we know we're going to probably need as much as we can for when we get to Colombia
09:11Anita's plan
09:12Working at a B&B to save an accommodation in the Cherokee province en route to the capital
09:18Almirante
09:20Almirante
09:21Muchas gracias
09:28The first team to arrive on the mainland
09:30Roman and Harley Moon searching for a bus straight to Panama City
09:376pm
09:396pm
09:406pm
09:41It's direct
09:42It's direct
09:43It's direct
09:44La otra ruta es de David
09:45David
09:46David
09:47Eh
09:48Que hora
09:49Aquí
09:50David
09:51It's
09:52Okay
09:53That's a bus
09:54Shall we get that?
09:55We can't wait till 6pm
09:56Yeah
09:57Yeah, let's do it
09:58Yeah
09:59With no direct bus departure for seven and a half hours
10:02The siblings head to a nearby transport hub
10:05In search of an earlier connection
10:07Come on, David, my sweetheart
10:09Give us some luck
10:10Give us some faith
10:11Do you reckon Dylan and Jackie made it off the island yet?
10:21Having finally reached Almirante port by boat
10:24Mother and son are still waiting for their bus to depart for Bochetti
10:29Where are you guys from?
10:30Like London area
10:31Yeah
10:32Like England
10:33Yeah, yeah
10:34Cool
10:35In Medellin
10:36We did the boat to San Blas
10:37Don't do it like that, okay?
10:38The waves were like three metres tall
10:41Oh my gosh
10:42People were crying
10:43Dogs were barking
10:44No
10:45People were throwing up
10:46What?
10:47It was intense
10:48We're going to Colombia
10:49We might be doing that
10:52We're...
10:53Yeah, thank you
10:54You enjoy as well
10:55Yeah
10:57I was crying, she said
10:58Yeah
11:00Oh God
11:05Right now the buses are ready
11:06Okay
11:07This way, please
11:08Thank you, gracias
11:09So we got going at most six hours ago
11:11Yeah, slow stop
11:13Makes you wonder whether where we're going is a bit in the middle of nowhere
11:17That's why there's not such a regular bus service
11:21Hopefully we can make up the ground and finish strong
11:24We'll stay positive
11:25Yeah
11:26Stay positive
11:28How are you doing, sir?
11:29You okay to take us to the terminal?
11:30Yeah
11:31Excellent
11:32Just arriving off the boat into Almirante
11:35Molly and Tyler
11:37Swift start
11:38With a seven hour gap to close, they're on a dash to the bus station
11:42Hopefully get an overnight bus
11:44To Panama City
11:45To Panama City
11:46To Panama City
11:47And then grab a boat into Colombia
11:49Yeah
11:51Is there a direct bus to Panama City?
11:53Let me see
11:54Let me see
11:55Is there my space
11:56Oh
11:57Thank you, ma'am
11:58Who's going to check if there's space on the bus?
12:00That's great
12:01Yeah, I have space to Panama Direct
12:03From here?
12:04Yes, from here
12:05Oh, man
12:06Yeah, you have luck
12:07That bus reaching about 5 o'clock in the morning
12:10Yeah, perfect
12:11Yeah, perfect
12:12Yeah, perfect
12:13Yeah, amazing
12:14This is good
12:16This is awesome, man
12:19Mmm
12:20You are the best, man
12:21Thank you
12:22Thank you, sir
12:23Eleven hours of travel
12:25Over halfway across the country
12:27And it's a nice accommodation
12:29There you go
12:30Get the bus
12:31Get the bus
12:35Yes
12:36This is going to help us catch up majorly
12:39To the other teams
12:40This is the redemption leg for us
12:42Yeah
12:43This is catch up leg
12:44Yeah
12:45Taking the bus Roman and Harley Moon passed on earlier
12:48Molly and Tyler are making a 600km overnight leap to Panama City
12:56I feel like tomorrow morning is basically like a level playing field
12:59We need to just continue this energy
13:01We can't take our foot off the gas
13:06Look at the skyscrapers
13:07First time we've seen skyscrapers this entire trip
13:09After successfully securing a connection in David
13:12The siblings are the first team into the capital
13:15I'm quite impressed by Panama City
13:16Yeah
13:17Towering over the Pacific
13:20The Wall Street of Central America
13:22One of the region's wealthiest cities
13:25It's become a magnet for millionaire migration
13:28It really feels like we're in the US
13:31I have a feeling it's going to be US prices
13:34In a way you're a bit gutted to not spend time in a nice city but
13:38On our budget
13:39I don't think we can afford to stay here
13:41No
13:42Hola
13:44Oh lift
13:46What?
13:47We haven't had a lift in ages
13:48This is very modern
13:50Oh yeah
13:51Electricity and everything
13:53I feel quite good about our progress today
13:55We've pretty much covered half of the country in a day
13:59We're about to cross the Guna Yalla
14:02I don't know much about the Darien Gap
14:04But it doesn't sound safe
14:07There's moments in this race where we've both decided we will not tell our mum about it
14:12And this might be one of those moments
14:14It's got such a nice feeling about it here
14:26You have holler monkeys every morning
14:28Who are here?
14:29Yes
14:30Okay, coming this way
14:33We have the guests today around here already
14:36Ah, nice
14:37If you can give me the hand and put those on the tables
14:39Sure, for everybody?
14:40Same for everybody?
14:41Yes, exactly
14:42450 kilometres west from Panama City
14:45And sitting on the gulf of Chiriqui National Marine Park
14:48The small fishing village of Boca Chica
14:51This is going to be the best torch you've ever seen in life
14:56Anita and Bal are working to pay off last night's accommodation at Roxy's B&B
15:01This looks so delicious
15:03Buenos dias
15:05There we go
15:06And one for the little boat
15:08Right
15:09This is ready to go
15:10Who hasn't had breakfast yet?
15:13You're emptying them?
15:14Yep
15:15I'll wash them
15:16Look at dad, he's washing the dishes
15:19Oh yeah
15:20He's really good at this
15:21He's so cute
15:22Oh my god
15:23We'll have these done in minutes
15:24He's such a hard worker
15:25I want to keep it longer
15:27There we go
15:29You were really helpful for us
15:31I want to show you the area
15:33That would be amazing
15:34That would be amazing
15:37This village is just 200 people
15:40I had the experience from Costa Rica
15:42That I used to run hotels
15:44I'm like I can't start bed and breakfast by myself
15:47My place is running by girls
15:49All women?
15:50Just women?
15:51Wow
15:52They have their own families but not a husband
15:54Single women
15:55I told them I can teach you some English
15:57You can run a place with me together
15:59We have to empower women in a small village like this
16:02I just want them to know how valued they are
16:05That is special for me
16:07This is the dream Roxy
16:09You're amazing
16:10Thank you
16:11I feel like I'm being told something myself, right?
16:14That there are things that I'd like to do
16:16There's been a bit of a change in my life in the last couple of years
16:23Come on Dad, let's have a little meander
16:25Before we have to get on it again
16:27Becoming single in my mid-40s is huge
16:31A lovely cove
16:32Wow
16:33Not a soul here
16:36Growing up there was so much expectation
16:39That you must get married and have children
16:41And so now it's not just a process of letting go of a past life
16:45It's also an embracing of a new one
16:49I've been in a bit of a funk
16:51But what I saw in Roxy
16:53Is what I know I have in myself
16:55Drive
16:56Tenacity
16:57Master your strength
17:00Before
17:01There was always this pressure
17:03That I had to keep everyone happy
17:05But now this whole trip is making me think
17:07There's so much that I want to do
17:09It's like a sense of liberation Dad
17:11As a woman but particularly as a South Asian woman
17:13I really enjoy the... how powerful it feels
17:17To be able to choose to live the life I want to
17:19And actually I had my dad's support
17:21Maybe I have sacrificed having a family
17:23But I'm okay with that
17:25And this trip has opened up my eyes a little more
17:27About you, how you feel and how you think
17:28Do you ever worry about me Dad?
17:29We sometimes say, oh
17:30Who's she with? Is she by herself?
17:31Because she feel lonely
17:32And that's why we sometimes phone you up and say
17:33Come and sit with us
17:34We don't want to feel lonely
17:35That's all
17:36I'm not lonely Dad
17:37Don't worry about me being lonely
17:38I'm good
17:39I'm very happy
17:53Yeah, because you're sitting with me now
17:55I know
17:57Dad
17:59This is incredible
18:01We made it
18:10Panama City
18:12Early doors
18:13Arriving into the capital after their overnight bus
18:16Molly and Tyler
18:18We've had a toilet wash
18:19Yes
18:20We smell fresh
18:22We smell fresh
18:23And we need to find where we can get this ticket
18:26To the Guna Yala Islands
18:27Yeah
18:28The only way for tourists to get safely to Colombia without flying
18:32Is to take a 4x4 transfer from the capital to the Panamanian coast
18:36Followed by a boat journey through Guna Yala to the border
18:42In here
18:43Let's go
18:46Hola
18:47We're trying to cross the Guna Yala to get into Colombia
18:51Habla ingles poquito
18:53No
18:54Le voy a dar un telefono
18:57Gracias
18:58Hola
18:59Hola
19:00Hola
19:01Can you please take us to Guna Yala?
19:03Sure
19:04Thank you very much
19:05I can do that
19:06And how much will it cost?
19:09Price?
19:10Yeah
19:11It's $155 per person
19:16$155 per person?
19:18Yeah, you pay me directly
19:20$155 each
19:22Okay
19:23And that's the best price?
19:24That's the best price
19:26Wow
19:27That is absolutely spend dog
19:34Right
19:36My life savings have just gone
19:40Mmm
19:43That is basically our whole leg budget
19:45Yeah
19:46Yeah
19:47That's the most expensive thing we've paid for
19:50There's nothing we can do
19:51Oh, we're such a curve for
19:54I mean, thank God we say that we can spend that money
19:57To reach the port, a 120km journey that winds around the sandblast mountains to the Guna coast
20:11We are in the sticks, man
20:15And there's nothing but jungle
20:17Mm-hmm
20:18It makes you think how hard it is to get to the border and the coast
20:22What the Darien Gap is actually like
20:24Yeah
20:25And how it's so inaccessible
20:26Yeah
20:27Trying to go through this any other way would be a wild journey
20:32There's just so much bush
20:34This is boss level winding road
20:38This is helter-skelter
20:40Salt Park
20:43Right, don't be sick in his car, basically
20:48Now he said it
20:49No, you don't, honey
20:51Imagine what a ball like tarmac in this is
20:55Let's go
20:56Let's go
20:57Let's go
20:58Are you the captain?
20:59Yeah
21:00Captain
21:01Oh, okay
21:02This boat?
21:03Yeah
21:04It's absolutely tiny
21:05This boat is safe, right?
21:06Yeah
21:07Is it fast boat, rapido?
21:08Yeah
21:09Excellent
21:10That's all we need right now
21:11Let's go
21:12Let's go
21:13Let's go
21:14Let's go
21:15Let's go
21:16Let's go
21:17Let's go
21:18Let's go
21:19Let's go
21:20Let's go
21:21Let's go
21:22Let's go
21:23Let's go
21:24Let's go
21:25Let's go
21:26To the island
21:27Passage through the Gunayala is limited to daylight hours only
21:31It's got a bit of oomph
21:32Oh my God
21:33Thank God this seat's got a bit of cushion
21:36Nighttime presents the danger of rough seas and shallow reefs
21:40As well as an increased risk of cartel activity
21:45This is
21:47The toughest journey at sea of the biggest waves I've ever seen in my life
21:53Whoo
21:55Lord of mercy right now upon our souls
21:58You have to have a strong stomach first
22:01Whoa
22:03It's proper pirate life please
22:06I thought we paid for a luxury cruise
22:09What?
22:10You okay?
22:11You okay?
22:12I'm a bit uneasy right now I'd say
22:17I'm not living my best life you know
22:20You'll be okay
22:21I thought you were holding on to me and I realised you were just holding the money belt
22:26Yeah keep that precious
22:28Fighting for my life against these waves and you're worried about the bloody money belt
22:33Oh
22:35This is proper adventure
22:37Whoo
22:45Going at a less urgent pace
22:48Oh
22:49See that blue
22:50Oh my gosh
22:51It's coming towards us
22:52That way
22:53That's blue
22:54Whoa
22:55Dylan and Jackie are exploring the highlands of western Panama
22:59Holly and Roman are definitely ahead of us but are they experiencing anything like this?
23:04We don't know
23:05Hidden away deep in the cloud forest
23:08Oh wow
23:09The Haguata waterfall
23:14Look at this guy
23:15No way
23:17Locals and travellers come to swim in its clear pools
23:20And for the brave the opportunity to jump from its eight metre high ledge
23:26I'd be so scared
23:28Dad will be straight in the water now and make a big splash
23:32Oh my gosh
23:36Let's go to the kiddie pool
23:38That's more our speed
23:43Well that's divine
23:45When I'm in nature I feel like I'm close to heaven or something
23:54I think through losses I have I feel closer to them when I'm in those moments of serenity and beauty
24:04That's amazing
24:05When I was 22 I met my first husband
24:08I was due to have James my first son 19th December and on the 21st of December there was a knock at the door and there was two fluorescent jackets
24:22They said we just want to let you know that your husband has been knocked over by a car and killed instantly
24:31I had James and I found it very difficult on my own
24:41I eventually got my act together and got on in life and coped and I met Barry who I married
24:49I've never swum near waterfall before
24:50It's so clear the water
24:51It is isn't it?
24:52We had Cameron and then ten and a half months later Dylan came around so I had three little boys under three
25:06It was absolute chaos
25:08Are you missing dad?
25:09Yeah I am but I actually think dad not being here has made me push the boundaries of me as a person and made me grow
25:21Yeah
25:23Because I've always relied on dad to do things for me
25:26Exactly
25:27We've had our little moments of braveness on our own
25:30It's cemented our bond even more and we support each other with James and things you know and it's been tough
25:39Losing two people very close in my life definitely has changed me as a person
25:48When James had gone I was internalising it trying to be brave and put brave face on for boys
25:55It took me a while to be strong again but I've had to be strong as a mother to my boys
26:04I just want to say thank you so much for everything and it means a lot
26:09Of course I don't
26:10I just don't think about it I just would always help you and love you and protect you
26:15Yeah and I want to protect you now you know I want to protect you and just
26:20Yeah like you deserve the world you're the best mum
26:25I don't think I'm the best mum
26:26No you are you are
26:29I'm really proud of the way you've grown up
26:31I mean you probably you don't need me anymore now
26:35I know
26:36Yeah
26:37I always need my mum
26:38Always need mama
26:44Oh my gosh
26:47That is the most beautiful sand I've ever seen in my life
26:52After over an hour at sea Molly and Tyler are making a pit stop
26:56We've got to jump off on here
26:59It's too special not to
27:05Thank you
27:07Gunayala is made up of a narrow strip of shoreline on the fringes of the Darien Gap
27:13As well as more than 350 islands in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean
27:18How on earth did ants get here?
27:22That's crazy
27:23They're so crafty
27:25Babe look at this
27:27Oh it's another level
27:29Isn't it?
27:30Wow
27:32LOS
27:34What?
27:35Oh piss off
27:37You idiot
27:38You absolute idiot
27:39After the Spanish colonised Colombia in the 1500s
27:43The Guna population gradually migrated towards the sandblast islands
27:48Eventually renaming the region Gunayala
27:51There are no luxury hotels or resorts
27:55And outsiders are banned from owning property
27:58I've literally never ever in my life been somewhere this remote
28:03I don't quite get it
28:05Yeah
28:07Roman and Harley Moon are docking on the 168 meter long Mandingua Island
28:13This is wild
28:16They're staying with the Tejada family who have lived here for generations
28:21Along with their menagerie of dogs, chickens and pigs
28:24Hi
28:27It's my pleasure
28:29You're in your house, welcome always to the order
28:31Oh
28:33What I love for you
28:35It's called Orion
28:36Orion
28:38And here is the name of Gunayala
28:44Yes
28:46Pardon me for my Spanish
28:48Gunayala is for us, Thules
28:50or aborigines.
28:52Yala is, all this mountain is Yala.
28:56People are Gunas.
28:58Gunas?
28:59In London, my football team is called Gunas.
29:05Yes?
29:06Yes.
29:08It's Arsenal.
29:10It's Gunas.
29:12They're my family.
29:20Gunas is Spanish or no?
29:22No, it's the dialect of Gunas, maternal.
29:24The dialect of Gunas, yes.
29:26It's easy to learn.
29:27Anay, friend, friend.
29:29Yes, Anay.
29:31You're my friend, Anay.
29:33Anay.
29:34In English, it's mate.
29:35Mate?
29:36Mate.
29:37I feel so far from home being on this island,
29:41but it's nice to be in a family environment, to be honest.
29:46There's a wolf here.
29:48W-S-Y-C.
29:51Very good.
29:52Muy bien, muy bien.
29:54Hermana es el nombre...
29:56Harley Moon.
29:58Harley Moon.
29:59Harley Moon, sí.
30:03I think I'm very much in love with you, pig.
30:07If I stay here for the rest of my life with this pig and Roman,
30:10we'd probably do OK.
30:16All right, then.
30:1735 kilometres ahead, Molly and Tyler are the closest team to Colombia,
30:23but with boats restricted from travel after dark,
30:26they're bedding down on Isla de Pinos.
30:30Sunset on an island.
30:34We smashed it.
30:35It's actually blowing my mind that we've been travelling for 27 hours.
30:41So it feels like a massive weight lifted to be on this island.
30:46Miles, they've got hammocks.
30:49Oh, OK.
30:51Hola.
30:53Can we stay here?
30:54Yeah.
30:55OK.
30:57Well, there's a touch.
30:58See, this is it.
30:59I can do this.
31:01This is vibes.
31:02This is true island living.
31:03What is that?
31:04Is that an ant?
31:05This is the first night I've ever spent in a hammock in my whole entire life.
31:19Molly's hammock is nicely protected with a mosquito net.
31:24My mosquito net is on me like it's my wedding day.
31:28There's no lights.
31:29There's no electricity.
31:31There's just the sounds of the waves and the sun that's going to wake us up.
31:35And that's quite actually special but scary at the same time.
31:38But this is the most we've ever felt alone.
31:43How are you doing, Miles?
31:44Not great.
31:45Yeah.
31:46You're protected though, isn't it?
31:47Not really.
31:57Over on Mandingua Island.
32:05It looks harder than it looks.
32:15This has actually been a really special place for us to stop.
32:20There's not a TV, there's not a radio.
32:24It's just animals and family.
32:27I think coming to places like this are really good for people like me,
32:30you know, who sometimes can get lost in our own world.
32:33What's so funny is that you could feel like you're in the middle of nowhere
32:36but you'll still find siblings performing for guests.
32:40Yeah, we used to do it.
32:41It just reminds me of us singing Craig David.
32:45Doing dance routine Shaggy wasn't me.
32:48Gracias, amigos.
32:49Gracias, amigos.
33:06Hola. Gracias.
33:08Dylan and Jackie are the last team to depart Panama City for Colombia.
33:12Quanta Questa.
33:15$310.
33:19So, $155 each.
33:21$300.
33:23Well, we'll just have to play.
33:25That's a lot of money.
33:27I'm kind of looking forward to leaving Panama now
33:30because of so much expenses.
33:33One step ahead of them, Anita and Bal.
33:38Ready to Pile.
33:40Setting off on a crossing that can take as long as eight hours.
33:44Woo!
33:46It's a little bumpy.
33:48A bit bumpy, yes.
33:49But very good fun.
33:51Well, we like roller coasters.
33:52Another roller coasters.
33:56In an ideal world, we get to Checkpoint tonight.
33:59Yeah.
34:00Let's hope it's a quick, smooth trip.
34:02But I have no idea how long the journey is.
34:04Maybe three or four hours, I don't know.
34:07Fingers crossed.
34:09At the front of the park, Molly and Tyler.
34:17Do you feel like jumping back into the race?
34:20Not just yet.
34:23Oh, look at that.
34:25That's a proper traditional fisherman.
34:28I could catch a fish.
34:30Have you ever been fishing?
34:31I've never been fishing, but that don't matter.
34:33It's about mindset.
34:34Okay.
34:36Buenos dias.
34:38My bro.
34:40Can you show me how to fish?
34:41You teach me.
34:42Okay, let's go.
34:44The Guna people live as their ancestors did.
34:47Farming and fishing sustainably in Ulus,
34:50hand-crafted wooden canoes.
34:53How are you?
34:55D'Amelio.

35:03D'Amelio is the least South London thing I could ever imagine myself doing.
35:08I never knew what it was like to grow up in a nuclear household.
35:12My mum brought me and my brother up all on our own.
35:15She's done everything for us.
35:17You just gotta drag it.
35:18D'Amelio.
35:19D'Amelio.
35:20D'Amelio.
35:21D'Amelio.

35:28D'Amelio.
35:29D'Amelio.
35:30D'Amelio.
35:31D'Amelio.
35:32D'Amelio.
35:33D'Amelio.
35:34D'Amelio.
35:35D'Amelio.
35:36D'Amelio.
35:37D'Amelio.
35:38D'Amelio.
35:39D'Amelio.
35:40for whatever we could afford and then she'd make the dinner and then she'd tuck us in and then just

36:42feel on top of the world i feel on top of the island
36:50you go every day every day roman is also throwing himself into the guna way of life
36:58joining senior blast to collect food supplies from his farm on the mainland
37:02where plantain fields lay in the coast
37:13we're the first yeah wow
37:20it's uh snakes here
37:22just like that he's got the knife and i've got the handbag
37:30this feels like a proper step into the jungle
37:36this is hard work these plantains are not light either
37:41it's a really nice feeling you're not thinking about anything and you've just got just got a job to do
37:46it's kind of a nice break from your own brain i guess you know there's been moments in my life where
37:53i didn't even want to be here anymore and things like this just make me think if i had made different
38:00decisions i never would have seen this and i never would have experienced this and i never you know
38:05yeah this shows that there's stuff worth living for you know
38:20it was a bad time in my life
38:27i remember one moment in particular where where it was really bad
38:30i just remember my mum passing the phone to harley and harley trying to just talk to me
38:39um just to i guess distract me and keep me on the phone so that my mum could get in the car and drive
38:45to me i don't know if i ever actually have spoken to harley about that call
38:51i don't think we've ever really been ready to have that conversation
38:54right it's hard to talk about man it's really hard
39:05what i do know is that conversation between my mum and harley might have saved my life on that day
39:13it was hard we walked about an hour into the jungle what was it like
39:27i'm not used to doing stuff that removes me from everything yeah but it did make me think though
39:36because obviously you know that i've had moments in my life where i just feel like i
39:41didn't really want to be here anymore yeah
39:49what's upset you no nothing
39:54it's just hard because like we had that day where it was really bad for me
40:01the more that i think about it and i realized that it was you on the phone to me and
40:07until mum got there
40:11i can't even remember what the conversation was but i knew that i was safe if i stayed on the phone
40:25and i feel bad because i never really said thanks for that

41:03i'm sorry that i don't tell you enough that i love you
41:05we've never had that conversation before it's nice to hear him say i love you but i know he loves me
41:29when someone has had episodes of really bad mental health i think you'll always worry about them
41:37and i was worried about him coming out here and
41:41he's really turned it around and he's doing great and i'm really proud of him
41:45it feels really freeing to have the conversation because now there's
41:53there's nothing lingering we're kind of a clean slate again
41:57and i think this place will always kind of be special to harley and i
