00:00And joining me is Front Office Sports Editor-in-Chief Dan Roberts.
00:03Dan, good to see you as always.
00:05So let's start with some news in Washington.
00:06Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was at the White House this week.
00:10This is President Trump hosted Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for a glitzy dinner.
00:16But there were tech CEOs there.
00:17Tim Cook, Elon Musk were in attendance.
00:19You also had FIFA President Gianni Infantino was there.
00:22Commander's owner Josh Harris was there.
00:24You even had golfer Bryson DeChambeau there.
00:26But I guess the big question, Dan, why was Ronaldo there?
00:30Well, why not, right?
00:31I mean, I see it as he was a poster child for both the Saudis and also the World Cup.
00:36He was kind of there as an ambassador.
00:38Everyone was there.
00:39It looked like half the Fortune 500 was there.
00:41A lot of sports teams, by the way.
00:42You mentioned Josh Harris.
00:43I mean, you mentioned the biggies there, the head of the Saudi PIF, of course.
00:47By the way, very telling that in an interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo referred to MBS as his boss.
00:52Yes.
00:53We know where Ronaldo plays right now.
00:54Of course, Bryson DeChambeau, a real Trump pal.
00:57Multiple live executives.
00:59So what does it all add up to?
01:01Well, we already know he's the sports president.
01:03And we've been saying that in multiple FOS stories.
01:05By the way, I don't think that's a political statement.
01:07No.
01:07You can say whether you like Trump or not, he is the sports president.
01:10He was the first one to go to an NFL game, you know, for the first time in a while.
01:14I mean, he's everywhere.
01:15Supposedly there's still going to be that UFC fight on the lawn, right?
01:18Right.
01:18Big wrestling guy.
01:19And so all this makes a lot of sense.
01:21And I think what you've seen is a lot of sports figures really cozying up to him.
01:25And a lot of people can say they don't like it.
01:27But, I mean, they recognize the era we're in and they've realized that it's advantageous to them.
01:32We'll see what directly comes from this dinner.
01:35But let's look back to when Trump went to the U.S. Open at the invitation of Rolex.
01:40And, gee, what do you know?
01:41Two months later, a tariff deal with the Swiss.
01:44Even though Rolex at the time said it has nothing to do with tariffs and, well, say whatever you want.
01:48So I imagine that multiple things were discussed and hammered out at this dinner,
01:53even in those little quick drive-by conversations that he has when he drops by someone's table.
01:57But a lot of sports names in the room and in his orbit.
01:59Yeah.
