00:04In a shocking turn of events, Bob Chapek will step down as CEO,
00:08with Iger coming back to lead the company after he stepped aside as CEO in February 2020.
00:13Susan Arnold, chairman of Disney's board of directors, said in a statement,
00:17We thank Bob Chapek for his service to Disney over his long career,
00:21including navigating the company through the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic.
00:25She continued,
00:26The board has concluded that as Disney embarks on an increasingly complex period of industry transformation,
00:32Bob Iger is uniquely situated to lead the company through this pivotal period.
00:36Iger wrote in an email to Disney employees that he is returning,
00:39with an incredible sense of gratitude and humility.
00:42While Iger will be returning to his old role,
00:44the board has also made it clear that his new term will be a temporary one,
00:48saying Iger,
00:48has agreed to serve as Disney's CEO for two more years,
00:52with a mandate from the board to set the strategic direction for renewed growth
00:56and to work closely with the board in developing a successor to lead the company at the completion of his term.
