F1 racer Charles Leclerc chats with THR at the 'F1' movie premiere in New York and dishes on watching Damson Idris and Brad Pitt film during the actual races. Plus, he reveals the best part of racing for him and what made him want to be a part of F1.

00:00Listen, this is a big night for the movie and also for F1, so what does it mean to have this movie come out just in time for summer?

00:08It's amazing. Honestly, to be here, to see so many people here for F1, for the sport I love, for obviously the movie, it's great.

00:16I remember four or five years back in time, I used to come to New York, nobody will know about Formula One, and now it's very, very different.

00:25The sport has grown so much, and the movie will bring it to another level again, and that's amazing.

00:30A lot of these scenes were actually shot during the races, so what was it like to kind of see that unfold?

00:37That's, I mean, honestly, the experience for us was very seamless.

00:42We didn't realize, I mean, we knew obviously that they were filming a movie, but everything was around us,

00:49and we were just doing our normal thing that we do every weekend, and there was just Brad and Dunstan around,

00:54which was a little bit weird to see them in suits and et cetera, but they've done an incredible job.

01:00The movie looks amazing, and I'm sure it will bring many other people.

01:05Well, they're actually getting behind the wheel of some of these cars.

01:08What was it like to see that? Were you impressed?

01:11I was, I was. I mean, to drive cars so fast on a track is not for everyone,

01:17but Brad and Dunstan was very impressive, and I think they had so much fun.

01:21And I was just speaking with Dunstan, who was telling me that he was just already looking forward to go back out on track,

01:28and, yeah, he loved it, and I'm sure Brad loved it too, and I'll happily take them back on a track once in a while.

01:36What's the best part of racing for you, and what made you want to get into F1?

01:40I think the thrill that you get when you are behind the wheel of such an incredibly fast car is what I love most about it.

01:50The driving is, yeah, what made me dream of becoming an F1 driver.

01:54Do you still remember your first time getting behind the wheel?

01:58Of course. I was three and a half years old in a karting, not a car, and, yeah, I will forever remember those images.
