01:00Hello, welcome to From the South.
01:02I'm Sophie Fernández, from the Telesor Studios in Havana, Cuba.
01:05We'll begin with the news.
01:06Stay with us!
01:19Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro revealed that he had a respectful and cordial telephone
01:24conversation with his US counterpart Donald Trump.
01:27The President assured that the call was initiated by the White House, where he advocated for direct
01:32dialogue for peace amidst the US military deployment near the Venezuelan coast.
01:37From an event in Petar en Miranda State, the head of state affirmed that if the call represents
01:42a step towards dialogue and diplomacy, it will be welcome.
01:46Maduro also emphasized that the US citizens are tired of eternal wars, referring to Washington's
01:53past conflicts abroad.
01:55In turn, he concluded with a message of firmness, assuring that the colonial powers of the world
02:00will never be able to subjugate the Venezuelan people.
02:13About ten days ago, at the White House, they called the Miraflars Palace, and I had a telephone
02:19conversation with President Donald Trump.
02:21The world press has been talking about this.
02:24I learned diplomatic prudence during my six years as foreign minister.
02:38And then during my years as President with the School of Foreign Ministers, and from the
02:42teacher we had, our Commander Chávez.
02:45I like prudence, I don't like microphone diplomacy, when there are important things.
02:58They have to be done in silence, until it is done.
03:01I received and had a call and spoke with the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
03:08I can say that the conversation was respectful in tone.
03:11I can even say that it was cordial.
03:17Also the Venezuelan head of state emphasized that the doors to dialogue with the United States
03:22are open, with a commitment to maintain cooperative relations between both nations.
03:30Between the President of the United States and the President of Venezuela.
03:34I would add that if this call means that steps are being taken toward a respectful dialogue,
03:46from state to state, from country to country, dialogue is welcome, diplomacy is welcome.
03:58Because we will always seek peace, welcome diplomacy, welcome peace, peace yes.
04:05War never, never in our lives.
04:11The Venezuelan President also asserted that the youth of the United States are tired of
04:15endless wars.
04:20The United States, all its people, all its youth are tired of eternal wars.
04:27They have scars on their collective psychology as a country.
04:36Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and the people of the United States say no more Afghanistan.
04:45No more Vietnam, no more Libya, no more Iraq.
04:57That is what the people say, massively.
05:03In this context, two new flights with over 500 Venezuelan migrants from the United States
05:08and Mexico arrived in Caracas Wednesday, as part of the humanitarian return to the homeland
05:13plan.
05:14The flights are the first with Venezuelan migrants to arrive in Bolivarian nations, since U.S.
05:20President Donald Trump declared the closure of his airspace last weekend.
05:25With Wednesday's arrival, more than 18,000 Venezuelan migrants have come back home as part
05:31Coleman's efforts to guarantee the safely return of Venezuelan migrants.
05:36Authorities emphasize that the returnees are contributing to the nation's economic growth
05:41and productive development.
05:43We are receiving flight number 95 of this year's return to the homeland plan 2025, and with
05:58these compatriots arriving from the United States, we can say that we are reaching 18,354.
06:08With potatoes and returning freely to the Bolivarian homeland, to the Venezuelan homeland.
06:15From the United States alone, we have received 76 flights from the United States, and we have
06:24now reached the figure of 14,407 with patriots on today's flight, 266 of whom were Venezuelan
06:32patriots returning to their homeland.
06:35Thanks to the President of the Republic, the Constitutional President, Nicolas Maduro Moros.
06:43Ivan Hill also highlighted the role of the government and the nation's institutions in
06:48guaranteeing the safe return of the Venezuelan migrants, and emphasized it was happening in
06:53a climate of peace and social stability.
06:56It is first and foremost a demonstration of the capacity of the Bolivarian government,
07:05of our institutions, of the return to the homeland plan, of the strength of this government to
07:10welcome with open arms our compatriots who are returning precisely today, December 3,
07:16as we enter the Christmas month.
07:18In the final month of the year we have seen the Venezuelan people celebrating in the streets,
07:23happy in the streets, working and producing to guarantee peace and social stability, which
07:28we have maintained throughout this time, and which allows us to enter this holiday season
07:33in December, welcoming our fellow Venezuelans who are going to be reunited with their families,
07:39who are going to be reunited with their friends, who are going to reunite in their territories,
07:45to join the daily work with their families.
07:51Moving on to the United States, Interface leaders, community leaders and elected officials from
07:59New York hold a vigil for peace and dialogue for Venezuela.
08:04Various Interface and community leaders gather in New York to demand that the US government
08:08find a diplomatic solution in Venezuela, in the face of the growing threat by the Donald Trump
08:14administration to carry out a military intervention in the South American nation, in a vigil that aligns
08:20with the urgent calls from the Vatican and the World Council of Churches.
08:25The organizers denounced reports of US military attacks that killed more than 80 people,
08:30in addition to the military deployment in the Caribbean, operations classified as extrajudicial
08:35executions and violations of international law.
08:39They also emphasized the need for diplomacy to prevent foreign laws of innocent lives if the
08:43Trump administration engages in a war not authorized by the US Congress.
08:55And the United States opened a new chapter in its offensive against immigrants with the
08:59launching of a New Orleans of the so-called Operation Catahoula Crunch.
09:05More than 200 federal agents are expected to begin fanning out across the city on Wednesday,
09:10after the Department of Homeland Security announced the start of the operative.
09:15The decision is the latest stop in the Trump administration's nationwide effort, targeting
09:21what the Department of Homeland Security called undocumented migrants with criminal records.
09:26The Trump administration has expanded the deployment of federal agents in cities governed by Democrats,
09:32to increase fear among migrant communities of Latin American and Asian origin.
09:38With the Catahoula Crunch operation, Washington expects to carry out up to 5,000 detentions,
09:44exceeding the amount reached in Chicago.
09:53In other news, Russia denies that President Vladimir Putin rejected the United States' plan
09:58to resolve the crisis in Ukraine.
10:01Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the statement about the Russian leader as incorrect,
10:07pointed out that the negotiations are in a normal working process.
10:11The spokesperson assured that Russia will maintain the principle of silence in the context
10:15of the negotiations, under the slogan that the more the silence, the more productive it will be.
10:22Moscow describes the meeting with the US special envoy, Stedt Witkov, as useful, constructive,
10:28and substantial, and that both Russia and the United States retaliated their willingness
10:33to work together to achieve a long-term peaceful solution in Ukraine.
10:42And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on Tiktok at

10:53Stay with us!
10:54Welcome back to From the South.
11:18The presidential candidate for the Libre Party, Rixi Moncada, denounced that in Honduras there
11:23is an electoral coup underway by the bipartisan ship sponsored by U.S. interference.
11:29In a special interview for Telesur, the candidate reiterated that the two-party system is committing
11:34electoral fraud, whose maneuvers had already been denounced in advance.
11:39Moncada explained that the inconsistency in more than 3,000 records altered the preliminary
11:44results and, despite this, the CNE issued data in favor of the two-party system.
11:51The candidate assured that she could accept the results that are 100% of the records verified
11:56by the Libre Party system.
11:59Subsequently, Rixi Moncada denounced this threat made by U.S. President Donald Trump against
12:04the Honduran people if they did not vote for the candidate of his choice, an action that
12:09confirms the interference.
12:11In this regard, she also rejected the pardon granted to former President Juan Orlando Hernandez,
12:17who was convicted of drug trafficking, a pardon that contradicts Trump's supposed fight against
12:22drug trafficking.
12:24that is under way, three straightforward messages from the President of the United States,
12:37practical against me, against my proposal, but with an additional component, freeing from jail,
12:51the former President Juan Orlando Hernandez, who was sentenced by the U.S. justice system
12:56to 45 years in prison for trafficking more than 400 tons of cocaine to the United States,
13:07in the framework of the general elections to define a new government.
13:12It is an ongoing electoral coup.
13:17Moncada also accused the United States of interfering in the elections, but saying publicly that right-wing
13:23Nasri Asfura was their candidate, and threatening to cut the remittances if she won the elections.
13:32And that you have to vote for him, but that did not come on its own.
13:35That came, and so that people, especially throughout the region, understand it.
13:40It came along with millions of messages that were sent to people's phones, saying that if
13:48Rixi Moncada wins the elections, the remittances for the month of December will not arrive.
13:56Honduras has approximately 2.5 million people who receive remittances from the United States.
14:02Extortion.
14:04It is an extortion, coercion, blackmail, a mechanism of interference, which in my opinion,
14:14is a platform that they are testing in Honduras to see what the result is, especially because
14:19we are still holding elections in Latin America.
14:23Rixi Moncada also reminded that even before the election, she had already denounced the
14:28electoral coup, and said she does not accept the system of transmissions of the results,
14:34which she described as flood and treasurers.
14:37Rixi Moncada is underway.
14:39Of course we saw it coming, and it was denounced in its time.
14:46And I ratified that I do not accept the system of transmission of the results, because it
14:53is a treacherous, flawed system that carries within mechanisms that do not allow for a transparent,
14:59free and democratic election.
15:03The Mexican government announced a 13% increase to the minimum wage, which will take effect
15:09on January 1, 2026.
15:11During a regular press conference, President Cláida Sheinbaum stated that the measure
15:16will benefit 8.5 million workers and increase the average monthly wage to $524.62, with
15:24an increase to $734.15 in the northern water-free zone.
15:30This is equivalent to a 154% increase in the purchasing power of Mexicans from 2018 to 2026.
15:38In addition, the President of the Business Coordinating Council, Francisco Cervantes-Diaz, emphasized that
15:44the government and the business sector have remained willing to negotiate terms that favor Mexicans,
15:51especially those most vulnerable, without affecting inflation.
16:00A significant increase of the minimum wage, the disappearance of outsourcing, which seemed impossible
16:10to achieve, and through agreements, negotiations, and dialogue.
16:23We have reached the point where there can be no subcontracting.
16:26Third, everything to do with justice in the workplace has changed radically.
16:31Pensions have also increased.
16:33What else?
16:34Profit sharing, and now the 40-hour work week.
16:37Profit sharing, and now the 40-hour work week.
16:45Afor's, holidays.
16:47The Afor's commissions were reduced.

17:46The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas delivers the body of an Israeli prisoner to the International Committee of the Red Cross,
17:53in the city of Beit El Laya, north of the Gaza Strip, as part of the ceasefire agreement.
17:59The Palestinian resistance movement and the Red Cross continue the search for Israeli bodies in the Beit El Laya area, adhering to the truce.
18:08Hamas urged mediators to pressure Israel to fulfill its obligations under the ceasefire agreement,
18:14including the withdrawal of troops from border crossings and moving towards the second phase of the agreement.
18:20It also demands the opening of the Hrafa crossing to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid into the coastal enclave.
18:27Also in Palestine, the municipality of Gaza is organizing the delivery of prosthetics to dozens of amputees,
18:41who were victims of the genocide perpetrated by Israel, as part of the International Day of People with Disabilities.
18:48The meeting, led by Mayor of Gaza City, Yaya al-Sahra, was part of the government's initiative to provide prosthetics and other mobility devices to victims of Israeli attacks, so they can reintegrate into their daily lives.
19:03In the sense, hundreds of Gazans who lost limbs during the genocide attended the event, hoping to benefit from donations.
19:10Mayor al-Sahra emphasized the need to receive external aid to meet the demand from the large number of amputated Gazans.
19:18In other news, Sudan faces the world's worst humanitarian crisis, with more than 40 million people displaced, increasing famine and the spread of diseases.
19:36Social groups affirm that armed conflict has triggered a large-scale war in Qadrum and other regions.
19:43Human rights groups and the World Food Programme have called on the parties to stop fighting after the situation worsened,
19:51as despite the fact that more than 4 million people benefit from humanitarian aid each month,
19:56millions of others flee the violence area at the risk of starvation.
20:01Since April 2023, the country has been plunged into chaos following the outbreak of a power struggle between the Sudanese army and the so-called Rapid Support Forces, causing death and destruction in the country.
20:31Indonesia reports more than 800 fatalities due to flooding that hit the island of Sumatra.
20:38The death toll is expected to rise in the coming hours, as the surge continues for at least 612 missing people.
20:46According to the latest report from the authorities, nearly 2,600 people suffered serious to minor injuries due to landslides caused by the passage of several tropical cyclones.
20:57To date, 1 million people have been evacuated from areas at risk, while the impact of the floods has destroyed dozens of schools and other infrastructures.
21:06Furthermore, other Asian countries such as Sri Lanka, Thailand and Malaysia are also suffering the consequences of climate change.
21:21According to official figures, more than 1,500 people have lost their lives during the floods in the region.
21:28Sri Lanka reports 474 deaths, 356 missing and more than 1.5 million people displaced.
21:36Thailand has 262 deaths and Malaysia has 3.
