Pre-match press conference with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola ahead of Fulham v Manchester City in the Premier League, held at the City Football Academy.

Guardiola plays down talk of mentality shifts compared to last season and insists he does not believe in defining a team’s mentality by whether they score or win. He refuses to predict whether last weekend’s win over Leeds would have happened a year ago and says their mentality is simply about putting the ball in the net.

He confirms Gianluigi Donnarumma has picked up his fourth yellow card but says he has no concerns and has not spoken to him about it. Guardiola praises Marco Silva’s Fulham for their organisation, physicality and improvement in possession, describing them as a very tough opponent after reviewing recent matches against Chelsea, Arsenal and Sunderland. He also says there is no update yet on Rodri’s fitness for the weekend.

00:00Hi Pep, I just wondered if that's a game on Saturday you feel that last season you
00:29may not have won and how much of a difference you've seen in the mentality of your team
00:34from a year ago to now?
00:38The game on Saturday to this time last year, is that a game that this time last year you
00:43wouldn't have won, wouldn't have found a way to win?
00:45Against Fulham.
00:46No against Leeds.
00:48The last game against Leeds, it will happen last season.
00:54The game against Leeds on Saturday, your team this time a year ago, would you have won that
00:58game?
00:59I don't know, I don't know, I'm not able to know what will happen, I don't know to be
01:08honest.
01:09But have you seen a big difference in the mentality of the team since then?
01:13Because we won?
01:14Yes, to where you are now compared to this time last season?
01:16It depends on the field, put the ball in the net, I don't know if that defines the mentality
01:20of one team or no mentality of one win, I don't believe in these kind of things.
01:25Based on Gianluigi, there's been a lot of talk about the incident on Saturday, he picked
01:29up a fourth yellow card at the weekend this season.
01:33Is that a concern for you?
01:34No, I have a lot, I have many.
01:38Yeah, to where it is.
01:39Have you spoken to him about it?
01:40No.
01:42Andy.
01:43Hi Pep, you were playing a team in Fulham who were coming off the back of a very good
01:49result at the weekend.
01:50How do you see Fulham this season?
01:53Marco has been many, many years there and always have been in really, really tough games.
02:01Difficult.
02:02The organisation is exceptional and every year I have the feeling that with the ball
02:06they are better and even better.
02:08So, tough, tough opening.
02:10I saw the games these days, yesterday and today.
02:13Against Chelsea, against Arsenal, last games against Sunderland.
02:17And always it's so, so difficult for the opponents, break up them and yeah.
02:24I always have been in this beautiful stadium in London.
02:28And can I just check on Rodri, how is he now?
02:32Not yet.
02:33Weekend perhaps?
02:34No, no.
02:35Great, we'll set the embargo there for 10.30pm this evening.
