Post-match embargoed press conference with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola after their 3-0 win over Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League.
Ruben Dias opened the scoring with a long range strike, Josko Gvardiol doubled the lead with a header from a Phil Foden corner and Foden made it 3-0 in the second half from a brilliant Rayan Cherki rabona assist, before Sunderland finished with ten men after Luke O'Nien was sent off late on.
In the embargoed section Guardiola reflects on the chance missed in Leverkusen to move closer in the table, insists City will go to the Bernabeu to play their own game and says the key on the biggest stages is simply to play like who they are, joking that in the end it is important just to have a job next season.
He heaps praise on Phil Foden as incredible, a gift in his current momentum and a diamond who is top, gives an update on John Stones’ injury situation, explains his recent lack of rotation after criticism over substitutions and highlights the quality of his forwards’ runs in behind and the passing to find them, before stressing it is time to enjoy the Sunderland win and then start thinking about the Champions League trip to Real Madrid.
