00:00Heavy clashes broke out on Tuesday between the M23 movement and the government forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo,

00:07specifically along multiple fronts in South Kimu province.

00:10Sources reported fighting in areas including Katogota, Luvungi, Kaziba Hot Plateau, Chivanga Hombo, and Kasika Mwenga,

00:19which has caused a large displacement of civilians.

00:22M23 leader Bertrand Bissimo confirmed the clashes in a brief statement,

00:26while the political spokesperson Laurence Kanyuka accused government forces and coalition troops of initiating attacks.

00:34Kanyuka described the situation as catastrophic and worsening by the minute, particularly along key front lines.

00:40Despite ongoing negotiations, both sides continue to blame each other for violations of ceasefire agreements signed in Doha last November.

00:49M23 controls significant territory, including Goma and Bukavu, as well as international airports at Goma and Kavumu.
