M23 pulls back from Eastern DRC towns as ceasefire pressure mounts

Fighters from the Rwanda-backed M23 armed group have withdrawn from several areas of the violence-plagued eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, the group, locals and the military told AFP on Monday.

00:33The Congolese Army's regional spokesperson, Lieutenant Ragan Bui, said M23 fighters had also retreated from nearby areas, including Kabunambo, Mutarule
00:44and Buegera.
00:45Local residents said pro-government militia fighters known as the Wazalendo had moved into Sangi after the M23 withdrawal.
