The holidays are here, and it’s the perfect time to whip out this recipe! Chef John shows you how to make his classic pumpkin pie, including the easiest homemade filling you’ve ever made! A dollop of white cream and a light dusting of cinnamon complete this dessert just in time to be the star of the Thanksgiving dinner table.

00:00classic pumpkin pie that's right i'm finally making public the secret food wishes version
00:05for this iconic thanksgiving dessert so we're gonna start with one can of pumpkin puree in a
00:10mixing bowl to which we're gonna add one whole egg plus three egg yolks next up we need our
00:16dairy and our sugar which we're gonna get in the same ingredient by adding one can of sweetened
00:22condensed milk and believe it or not that's pretty much our pumpkin pie filling except of course
00:27for the spices we're gonna go with some freshly grated nutmeg some cinnamon a pinch of chinese
00:32five spice and some ground ginger don't forget the salt so i toss that in and once that was mixed
00:38very very very thoroughly it's time to pour it into a prepared pie shell we're gonna give it a
00:43little shaka shaka and then of course the old tapa tapa we're gonna place that in the center of a
00:50preheated 425 degree oven for just 15 minutes then turn it down to 350 for another 30 to 35 minutes
00:59we're gonna test it with the tip of a knife we're gonna cool that completely before we try to cut it
01:03so i'm gonna put a very very sexy dollop of whipped cream on there and then to finish a little light
