00:0420th Century Fox has been quietly rearranging its film release calendar,
00:08no doubt in anticipation of the $70 billion plus Disney-21st Century Fox merger.
00:13In other words, Fox is moving its release dates around so they don't conflict with those of any Disney films.
00:18Here's what you need to know.
00:20Late last week, Fox pushed back the release of the Murder on the Orient Express sequel Death on the Nile
00:25from December 20th, 2019 to October 2nd, 2020.
00:29Why? Well, in its earlier date, the film would have opened opposite Disney's Untitled Star Wars Episode 9.
00:35You know, there is something about that tangle of strangers pressed together for days with nothing in common
00:41but the need to go from one place to another.
00:43Fox also pushed Ad Astra starring Brad Pitt from January to late May,
00:47while moving the action-comedy Stuber starring Dave Bautista from May to July.
00:51Now, federal regulations prohibit Disney and Fox film executives from directly coordinating their efforts
00:56during the merger process.
00:58But providing everything goes as planned, Disney will soon inherit Fox's marquee franchises,
01:03including James Cameron's Avatar series and Fox's superhero properties such as X-Men and Deadpool.
01:09The long-in-the-making Avatar sequel now in production is set to open in theaters on December 18th, 2020.
01:15Meanwhile, the third film in Fox's Kingsman series was recently dated for November 8th, 2019,
01:26a weekend that doesn't conflict with a film from Disney.
01:29The Frozen sequel debuts on November 27th.
01:31It isn't clear when Disney will take over marketing and distributing Fox films,
01:35but Fox's X-Men spinoff Dark Phoenix could be the first film released by Disney.
01:40It was recently pushed from February to June 7th, a date that doesn't conflict with any Disney movie.
01:45For a full calendar of both Disney and Fox's upcoming release dates, head to THR.com.
01:54Until next time, for The Hollywood Reporter News, I'm Tiffany Taylor.
