00:00Disney just can't wait to be king, and with these numbers it looks like they just might be.
00:14With The Lion King stampeding towards the $1 billion mark, Hollywood's top studio shared
00:19some exciting news announcing that it's already collected a record-shattering
00:23$7.67 billion in its yearly revenue. And guess what? It's not even August yet.
00:29Disney is actually breaking its own record by achieving this honor, since a previous record
00:33of $7.61 billion was set by the studio back in 2016. The new $7.67 billion figure includes
00:41$5.09 billion earned overseas, making this the first time any Hollywood studio has passed
00:47the $5 billion threshold internationally. This feat comes as no surprise considering that
00:52three Disney titles have already crossed $1 billion worldwide this year. Marvel Studios'
00:57Captain Marvel, which finished its run with $1.23 billion. Avengers Endgame, which earned
01:03$2.79 billion and surpassed Avatar to become the top grossing film of all time. And Aladdin,
01:09which just rode past the $1 billion mark last week. Meanwhile, The Lion King is also on the
01:14verge of achieving the milestone after finishing Sunday with a worldwide total of $962.7 million
01:20after just two weeks in release. And we can't forget about Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 4,
01:25which is likely to top $1 billion in the coming weeks. So if these films also join the
01:30billion-dollar club, Disney will be setting a new benchmark for the number of $1 billion
01:34plus films released in a given year, which again will mean breaking its own record which
01:38was set back in 2016 with 4. And we still have even more Disney rollouts before the 2019
01:44calendar year ends, including Frozen 2, slated for a Thanksgiving holiday release, and the
01:49year-end holiday offering, Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker. So the studio could be well on its
01:53way to soaring past this new record.
