00:10J.J. Abrams' Star Wars' The Rise of Skywalker is the latest film to join the
00:14billion-dollar club at the worldwide box office, reaching the milestone on Tuesday
00:18just 28 days since its release. The heavily buzzed-about film, which closes out the
00:23Skywalker saga that George Lucas first brought to the big screen 42 years ago,
00:27earned $481.3 million along with $519.7 million overseas for a worldwide tally of
00:36$1.001 billion. A big question now is where the Disney and Lucasfilm's tentpole will
00:42land in comparison to the last installment, Star Wars The Last Jedi, which topped out
00:46at $1.33 billion globally. Box office analysts believe Skywalker has a shot at $1.2
00:52billion to $1.25 billion. For the final installment, Abrams gathered together
00:57numerous stars from Star Wars The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, led by Daisy Ridley
01:01as Rey and Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, as well as actors from the original Star Wars picks
01:06including Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams and the late Carrie Fisher.
01:10Rise of Skywalker capped a record-shattering year for Disney, which has now incredibly
01:14seen seven of its 2019 releases join the billion-dollar club. The others are Avengers
01:20Endgame, the top grossing film of all time with $2.79 billion globally, The Lion King
01:26with $1.65 billion, Frozen 2 with $1.37 billion, Captain Marvel with $1.12 billion,
01:33Toy Story 4 with $1.07 billion and Aladdin with $1.05 billion.
01:39Sony's Spider- Far From Home with $1.31 billion, which was produced by Disney's Marvel
01:44Studios and Warner Bros. Joker with $1.06 billion, were the other two 2019 movies
