Frank Oz chats with THR at the 'Inside Out 2' premiere and shares what he loves most about working in animation.

00:00What did you think when they brought you this role in Inside Out 2?

00:04There's a lot of noise here.

00:05What did you think when they brought you this role, or how did you become a part of the film?

00:09Well, basically it's because Pete Dock is a friend of mine,

00:13and they knew that when I, me and Dave Golds were in the last one,

00:18and I think the reaction, the worldwide reaction to our three lines,

00:24was so massive that we had to come back.

00:28And of course, us two guards, which have three lines each, we obviously carry the movie.

00:34You wouldn't have the mind without the mind guards.

00:37I mean, obviously, it's a responsibility, but we're okay.

00:42If you had to pick, which emotion would you say runs the control board in your head?

00:52What a good question.

00:53I think probably, oh, it's hard.

01:01I think the emotion of, I don't know, it's hard.

01:08I guess kind of like in the movies, that you have to have all the emotions, you know, to be a well-rounded person.

01:12So it depends, right now I might have emotion, but then later on I have a different answer,

01:16because I have a different emotion later on, so I don't know.

01:18What a lousy interview, huh?

01:20Hey, no, it's a left field question, so.

01:25But I also want to know, you've done so many animated movies in your career,

01:28what do you love most about working in this medium?

01:30Well, I just love doing characters.

01:33I mean, my stuff is character work.

01:35So if there's a character and I can dig my teeth into it, that's, you know, I can lose myself and do it.

01:40It's just, I'm blessed, you know.

01:43Have you gotten to see the movie yet, or is this your first time seeing it?

01:46Have you seen the movie yet, or is this?

01:48I have not, yeah, yeah.

01:49I hear it's an animated movie, is that right?

01:51That's what they're saying.

01:52I got to see it, and honestly, I loved it.

01:55It's a really good movie.

01:56Inside Out 1, I mean, it's such a great idea.

01:58And number 2, Jesus, when you're 13 years old, my God, you're in a war zone, you know.

02:04I have 4 kids, so I know.
