00:00We consider Venezuela to be not a very friendly country.
00:03They sent millions of people, really, and probably a number in excess of that.
00:09And a lot of those people shouldn't be in our country, from jails, from gangs, from drug dealers,
00:15from all of the people that came into our country shouldn't have been in our country,
00:19causing a lot of problems and drugs.
00:22Does your warning mean that an airstrike is imminent, or should we not read it that way?
00:27Don't read anything into it.
00:28Here's the latest.
00:29President Trump confirming he held a call with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro
00:32as questions mount over recent U.S. airstrikes in the Caribbean.
00:36Joining us now is Bloomberg's Mika Solner for more.
00:39Mika, I just want to start with what we understand about what's going on
00:42and where we stand with respect to potential action from the U.S. against Venezuela.
00:48Absolutely.
00:49The Trump administration has been extremely aggressive in its posturing towards Venezuela,
00:54blaming it on targeting their narcotics operation.
00:58As we just saw, the president has been very vague on exactly what his plans are in that region.
01:04But there's been a lot of questions raised by members of Capitol Hill, Republican members as well,
01:09in terms of the legal actions that the administration has taken and what the next steps could prompt.
01:13I do wonder, Mika, do we have a sense of what that strike was over on offshore of Venezuela?
01:20It was in the Caribbean.
01:21Big questions now swirling in Congress about the legality of it.
01:25What's the latest on that front?
01:26Yeah, there are a number of top Republicans on Capitol Hill,
01:31from the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, Roger Wicker,
01:37to many prominent House Republicans that have asked about the legality of the most recent strikes.
01:43But this has been ongoing, and these are questions.
01:45And the administration has been very tight-lipped on this,
01:48even in their discussions with lawmakers and those in their allies,
01:52and have kept it very secretive in terms of what exactly their plans are.
01:56Thank you very much.
