00:00I'm gonna try to fix this this is a shank in adapter this gotta be 30 years
00:10old 25 30 years old it's got a different connection but it's to a fish tube got
00:23no light here let me move it the thing with this is I never really even used it
00:28or look how tall that is it's got a dimmer switch on the bottom
00:40and it goes slower fast I'm you can see some suds in there I'm trying to clean it
00:49because it just evaporates over the years I try to change the water and
00:57clean this with some Windex solution or something it's like a heavy heavy plastic
01:06so let's take a look at that adapter
01:10one thing about this is the cord is definitely different
01:18it goes in there so you would think it might be the adapter but if you run along the lead
01:30you can see a little switch
01:39not only is this switch looks like it's missing a
01:46broke up part broke off this is probably been used I bet you that's the problem right there so I'm just
01:59gonna cut it and hook it up direct see what happens now if you want to continue using this you can
02:05probably buy another but look how these switches operate I would say that there was some at some
02:12point a little wire sticking out from each of these sides in order for this dial to make the connection so
02:24maybe I'll try to fix this with the dial first and there's a little crack
02:30there's a little crack in this ground wire I guess
02:43also so so let me see if I can rig something up there this here just says flow control and I remember that
02:52that was the speed of the bubbles and the speed that the fish would
02:59circulate in the fish tank it's like one of these deals
03:06for now just to see if that's the problem we'll get some duct tape let's try that for now
03:13get some tape put it on there there'll be some conditions here it's a 120 volts but it's only
03:23putting out 12 so plug that in
03:31and there it is
03:32now that's the maximum flow but
03:47see you don't want to trust this you probably get a new switch but just to make sure that that's just
03:56the problem i'll just use the tape for now and i won't leave it plugged in you don't want to leave
04:04it plugged in time to put the fish in i'll fill it up
04:12almost full keep it on for five minutes see if that circulator will work so i emptied the water
04:20oh surprise surprise a china product it looks like four phillips screws
04:34i'm gonna take that out because yeah it just hums it doesn't circulate or nothing i think it might
04:39be just stuck the smaller screwdriver didn't work i did need a bigger bit so i tried that
04:46that and success let's see what the problem is now
04:59there's some components in there but it's still it's still uh hummed so i don't think that would
05:07be the problem let's get some light in there oh look at that the color wheel is all
05:16dirty so we could clean that now so this looks probably like a water pump
05:26that's what that hum uh sounds like so we could clean the
05:36i don't even have to take that off
05:37the colors
05:49and the light works you know that
05:55this one might need this small screwdriver here
05:58all right so i'm wondering if i have to take this pump off
06:11maybe even prime it or something maybe it just was dry and uh
06:17we'll see well the doesn't look like anything's burnt out there on the dimmer switch because if you
06:22remember that works that works that works okay
06:28you can see a little
06:32dirt here
06:40all right let me check out that pump also if you look close up
06:44you know how water gets when it just ages and it's not moving yeah water deposits
06:57they'll get hard and i'm thinking this tube here is just clogged up with hard water deposits
07:05and that might be able to unplug from there yeah it goes right you can see the spring here
07:17so just needs a good wash i bet we'll see
07:22you know what i have another video of a waterfall pump
07:27uh not too long ago after christmas i guess and uh i think this is all keurig related you know where
07:37you got to put the vinegar in the keurig machines to keep it going well this is actually what happens
07:43if you don't use the vinegar it just gets the water deposits gets harder and harder i'm gonna pour
07:50some vinegar in here and see what happens yeah you can see you know you got the hum
07:57the light turns from yellow to red to green i think by cleaning that off
08:10and i'm just gonna let it sit
08:16either that or you'd have to take all those hoses off clean it out you might as well just buy a new
08:20pump you know those pumps really ain't that expensive but uh i'll let you know
08:28how it turned out with the vinegar in the description if the vinegar works i'll i'll write it in the
08:35description and i'll maybe let this sit overnight while it's on see if it circulates
08:41okay thanks for watching take care
08:50you
