00:00I did this video a couple years ago, and I seem to have got a bunch of hits on it,
00:07on the solar battery, solar lights on the umbrella.
00:14Now, it was a real hot day, almost 100 degrees today. There's the switch, and I know sometimes if you
00:26play around with it, there's a light right there. Nothing's going on.
00:35You can even see the light. There it is. Yep, nothing at all. So, we're going to take it back
00:46apart, and see what's up with it.
00:49All right. First, we'll twist the top counterclockwise off of this unit anyhow.
01:06And then there's a little clip here, so we will unplug it. Do you have to press anything? No, it
01:17looks like you just pull it.
01:20But if there is a clip, press it and then pull it. One sec.
01:24Okay, now right here I see these metal tabs here are actually coming out before it just popped out.
01:38I wonder if that, like, melted together or anything. Let me try the switch again.
01:48Because it definitely had enough sunlight today.
01:53All right, so maybe we'll check those batteries, but I'm going to have to get that out.
02:02Carefully, or it might, uh, damage the wire.
02:06Before I probably try some pliers on the end, since I just see these two, the same two Phillips screws,
02:17and it's got to be watertight, too, because if rain gets in there, it could short it out somehow or
02:24short out the batteries.
02:26But I'm going to just see if this half will pop off without disconnecting that.
02:37And I think it does.
02:40Yeah, now you see here, I could actually get a better grip on that.
02:45Let me see if I can get that out now.
02:49Yes, I did.
02:51So I'm wondering if, uh, that's not making the contact, or let's try putting it back on for a second.
03:05And first I'll take these batteries out, because I remember replacing the batteries.
03:10But I'm just going to see if there's a connection problem first, because I remember I ended up putting these
03:16batteries right back in.
03:22On the last video, I think I said nickel metal.
03:28Now let's put the, uh, clip back on.
03:33Let's go try the switch again.
03:38Okay, still no light.
03:41So now I'm wondering if we do need the new batteries.
03:47There's that connection there.
03:49This is getting ripped too, but maybe I can see a light up here.
03:58Now I'm going to take these batteries out and test them.
04:02We have this charger here.
04:05So I think I'll put it on the nickel metal.
04:11And looking at the battery itself.
04:17Remember it took a while before to actually find out.
04:23Yep, nickel metal.
04:25These go in upside down now.
04:27And what this battery charger tells me is if they're bad or it can be charged again.
04:41Just, uh, this is a sharp.
04:45Okay, so there we got the one green says okay.
04:50Okay, and the two red here are charging.
04:59So I'm going to pause this.
05:02Can you see that?
05:05Yeah, the, uh, yeah, the one that says okay.
05:11Usually it says bad if you've got to replace the battery.
05:15So I think that's really lower.
05:18Because, uh, with this, uh, experience with this unit.
05:24Um, it, it should be either it's okay or it's got to be charged.
05:30But I'm going to let the, pause this and let the other two charge.
05:32Let's see what happens.
05:34And while we're waiting, I just took these out of the blood pressure machine.
05:38I know these work.
05:40Um, just going to put them in.
05:47One.
06:01Oh, you've got to make sure these tabs are in.
06:05Two.
06:11Two.
06:14And three.
06:18It's plugged in.
06:19Now let's go try it out.
06:35Nope.
06:36Still no go.
06:38And those are good batteries.
06:42Not the rechargeable type, but.
06:46So I'm wondering if it's a wiring problem.
06:51All I had to do was, uh, take them out last time and all the batteries worked.
07:02Then you got this wire, because that also would be a possibility.
07:07That goes down the whole tube here.
07:14And then another thing is to switch.
07:17I remember once, just keep trying to switch.
07:23And it would work.
07:26Okay, so we're getting nothing at all.
07:28Or you would have seen that light.
07:32Now let's think on it.
07:34See, now another thing was, it rained hard last night.
07:40Thunderstorms.
07:41And if any of these components got wet, it could have blew out the circuit board.
07:51Usually all you have to do is, see that light's not going on.
07:59Now let me put those, I don't think they're done yet.
08:03We're going to still have to wait for those batteries to charge.
08:06All right, all green lights, there we go.
08:12Now if the Duracells didn't work.
08:16These still get warm, so they're probably still good.
08:22Let's put these in.
08:25I don't think they're going to work, but.
08:30Make sure those contacts are.
08:35Hitting the batteries.
08:42Before I close it, I'm going to make sure that light works.
08:54Still no.
09:03Well, let me put that back together.
09:06And, just as I was going to tell you.
09:11It's working.
09:15I was going to suggest, see these small tabs here.
09:19If you were to take a.
09:22Tool with a point on it.
09:24And press the contact in.
09:26It could have just been a contact.
09:29But, this is what I did last time.
09:31I changed the batteries.
09:32The Duracells didn't even work.
09:35And, here we have full power.
09:38Thanks for watching the video.
09:41Give me a thumbs up.
09:42Later.
09:43Hopefully, if you're good.
09:43There's cancer.
09:43Give me a thumbs up.
