Darren Jones has dismissed reports that ministers were misled by the Chancellor saying that the Budget had "the unanimous support" from the Cabinet. 00:00So cabinet colleagues are involved in the budget process at different stages, of course not the whole cabinet is involved at the start, you wouldn't draft by a committee of 28 from the beginning, but as you get closer to the end, secretaries of state who might be affected by tax or policy decisions will have been briefed by the Chancellor, and then of course the whole cabinet was briefed on the budget and it received the unanimous support and endorsement of the cabinet on that Wednesday morning before the Chancellor went to Parliament to deliver it to the public.
