00:00It is a beautiful day in Los Angeles, as we get set for a great old-fashioned AFC West Rylver 3.
00:10The Chargers looking to cook up something special against the Las Vegas Raiders.
00:17Here's a look at the playoff picture, and Los Angeles comes in in the sixth spot, a 7-4 record.
00:24Hi, everyone. Alongside Jason McCourty and Charles Davis, I'm Andrew Catalan.
00:30We'll hear from A.J. Ross in a moment.
00:33If the Chargers are going to make a playoff push, they need better play out of their offensive line.
00:38Absolutely, and they've dealt with a ton of injuries this year.
00:41Seven different offensive line combinations with ten different guys in there as starters.
00:46It starts with them.
00:47Now, for Justin Herbert, he can be protected.
00:50He can make plays down the field.
00:51Jamari Salyer will be in there at the left tackle position to help protect that blind side for him.
00:57But, Herbert, he's won the most he has in his career, has been hit the most of any quarterback in the NFL.
01:03Keep him upright, and he'll be able to make plays.
01:06For Las Vegas, they fired offensive coordinator Chip Kelly last week.
01:10Greg Olsen takes over as the play caller.
01:13And, Charles, it's clear Pete Carroll wants them to run the ball more.
01:16No doubt, and if you go to the movies, you might remember the term, run the dang ball.
01:21That's exactly what Pete Carroll wants.
01:23That means Ashton Gentry, their prized rookie out of Boise State, should get more carries, more touches in this game.
01:29The Raiders need to control the line of scrimmage, control the football, control the clock.
01:34On the other side of the ball, Max Crosby.
01:36He plays this game with unbridled passion, great joy, and not a small dose of malevolence.
01:43He will be chasing Justin Herbert both in and out of the pocket, trying to create big plays for his Raiders team.
01:52It's a rematch of a week two game in Las Vegas, which the Chargers won 20-9.
01:58And L.A. has won the toss.
02:00They have elected to defer.
02:02So, Vegas will start with the football.
02:15Chargers coming off a bye.
02:17Prior to that, a brutal loss in Jacksonville.
02:20The most lopsided loss of the Jim Harbaugh era.
02:24They got beat 35-6.
02:27While the Raiders have lost five consecutive games.
02:30We're underway at SoFi Stadium.
02:34It is Dylan Lobby who fumbled the kickoff, picking it up and getting it out close to the 40-yard lines.
02:42We check in with A.J. Ross.
02:43Andrew, this is a refocused and recharged Chargers team coming off of their bye.
02:48Jim Harbaugh told us they have to have a playoff mentality with every game and every opponent going forward.
02:54He also mentioned, you know, a lot has changed between these two teams since they last met in week two.
02:59Meaning, they're actually looking at this game as an opener.
03:02And they have to be exact with their assignments.
03:04Know their keys.
03:05And be that much more confident today if they want to remain undefeated in division play, guys.
03:11All right, A.J., thank you very much.
03:13As Las Vegas will start at the 37-yard line.
03:17And Ashton Gentry on first down.
03:19Hey, look, no surprise, the Raiders ran the ball on the first play of the game.
03:24That's what Pete Carroll wants.
03:25Pete Carroll, Leigh-Anne Tuohy, everyone wants him to run the dang ball.
03:30You draft the guy number six overall, he's got to touch it.
03:33Jason, you've got to find a way.
03:35And in some ways, with an offensive line that's been as jumbled as theirs,
03:39maybe it just gives them a chance to fire out, hit people, and find some type of a rhythm.
03:43Raiders going with Alex Capa as center.
03:51It was Will Putnam who started the last two.
03:54Geno Smith to the air, batted down at the line.
03:57It was Tuohy, Tuohy below two, getting his hand up there, and it's third down.
04:04Trying to go with a screen to Ashton Gentry, finding ways to get the ball in his hands.
04:09And just a really good job.
04:11You see right there, reads the screen, stops his pursuit into Geno Smith,
04:15and then gets his hands up, understanding how the offense is trying to attack you.
04:20Jason, isn't that similar to when as you as a defensive back,
04:23you're taking on a wide receiver who's stalk blocking you.
04:26Stay right there with him, and then when it's time, shed him and go make the play.
04:30Exactly. Diagnosed to play, see ball, go get ball.
04:34Play clock down to two.
04:36It's third and five.
04:39Smith staying in the pocket.
04:41Now he's in trouble, and Geno is sacked.
04:45He was sacked ten times a week ago.
04:48Now did the ball come out late?
04:50No, they're saying it is four down.
04:54But a quick three and out for Las Vegas.
04:58Feels like Cleveland early in this game.
05:01Geno was sacked ten times in that game, hit 16 times.
05:05But I don't think this is all on the offensive line, guys.
05:08Look at the amount of time he has to throw the football.
05:10There's time to find someone downfield if someone was available and open for him.
05:16Geno Smith could not find an open target and had to eat that one.
05:21Give the sack to former Raider Khalil Mack.
05:25He now has five on the season.
05:27Now they're going to share it with two below teams.
05:29He's trying to have sacked.
05:31As A.J. Cole is punting to Darius Davis, who lets it bounce.
05:35It hits a Charger.
05:36Ball is loose.
05:38A scramble for it.
05:40And we'll see who's got it at the bottom of the pile.
05:44Chargers indicating they have it.
05:46Raiders saying they have it.
05:47We'll wait for the official word.
05:48And it looks like the Chargers come away with it.
05:54A near disaster on special teams for Los Angeles.
06:00It looks like Davis maybe lost it in the sun.
06:02He's just stopped.
06:04And his St. Juice on the face mask as it bounces off the floor there.
06:08That's one of those situations where if Davis isn't going to catch the ball,
06:11he needs to be more emphatic of getting up there yelling poison or Peter.
06:15Whatever the call is to get all of his guys to get away from the football,
06:19he doesn't do that.
06:21And it bounces off to his St. Juice.
06:23Good job by the Chargers being able to get back on that ball.
06:25I love your observation.
06:26Davis became a bystander there instead of the traffic cop he needed to be.
06:30Justin Herbert hands off to Kamani Vidal on first down,
06:38and he stretches out to the 30-yard line.
06:43So Justin Herbert has great numbers in his career against the Raiders.
06:4820 passing touchdowns, just two interceptions.
06:52He's 7-3 against Las Vegas.
06:54And he echoed the same message that A.J. Ross talked about Jim Harbaugh giving his team.
07:03Each game is a one-game playoff.
07:06We have to approach it accordingly.
07:09Second down and six.
07:10Herbert to the air.
07:12Now he's going to step up, and he'll slide down, takes his shot.
07:16No flags.
07:17A gain of three for Herbert, and it's third down.
07:20Yeah, I think that was more of Raiders defenders hitting one another
07:23opposed to hitting Herbert as he got down.
07:26And we mentioned it in the open.
07:28He's taken off more than he has in his entire career of running the football.
07:33He's third in the NFL among quarterbacks in rushing yards.
07:37That's behind Josh Allen and Justin Fields.
07:39So it just goes to show you how Justin Herbert has used his legs this season.
07:44And I feel like he would be third in that group in design quarterback runs.
07:47His is much more scrambles.
07:49Yep.
07:50Third down and three.
07:52Herbert over the middle, and it is caught by Keenan Allen with a flag down.
07:59Darian Porter on the tackle, a gain of ten.
08:02And let's see what the penalty is from a referee Alex Moore.
08:05Defense number 26.
08:07That penalty is declined in the result of the plays.
08:09The first down.
08:11So Keenan Allen with his 21st receiving first down on third down this year.
08:17That's the most in the NFL.
08:18And we're going to talk about this Chargers offensive line.
08:21Crosby was right in the middle of it in here, and they protected perfect.
08:25Gave Herbert a clean pocket, and he found his go-to target on third down, Keenan Allen.
08:30I like how you mentioned third down with some emphasis, Andrew.
08:33That's Keenan Allen's down, isn't it?
08:35No doubt about it as Vidal tries the left side, picks up a few.
08:39Chargers third in the NFL, converting third downs this year at 45%.
08:45Let's keep an eye on Max Crosby, number 98.
08:50He is their superstar, and he plays all out each and every snap.
08:55But Jason and Andrew, what I'm eager to watch is where does he line up snap after snap?
08:59Because he's going to try and find a place that he's going to win most of his battles.
09:04Often lines up here.
09:05That's where he begins.
09:06But he'll work his way up and down the line of scrimmage to find the right spot.
09:18Crosby's coming.
09:19Here comes the flag.
09:20This one's blown dead.
09:22Crosby was in the backfield as Herbert was hitting the football.
09:26Luchas' own infraction.
09:27Defense, number 98.
09:29Five-yard penalty.
09:30It is on Crosby.
09:32You'll see him right there at the bottom of your screen, just gets an early jump.
09:40And he was arguing with the official.
09:41I think he was trying to say that they did something with the ball or somebody had a movement.
09:46But from where we're standing, that was obviously on Max Crosby.
09:49And that's Pat Graham, the defensive coordinator for the Raiders.
09:52A holdover from the previous regime who's still working on that blend between him and Pete Carroll with this defense.
09:58Second down and two.
10:01It's Vidal up the middle.
10:03And he picks up the first down.
10:06Jason mentioned this in our open.
10:08But Jamari Salyer starting at left tackle today.
10:11The fourth different charger to start at left tackle.
10:15And it's Trey Pipkins at the other tackle position for Los Angeles.
10:19Looking for some stability and protection for Herbert.
10:22And they've tried numerous ways of going with different guys.
10:26Trading for Trevor Penning.
10:27Coming over from the Saints.
10:29Stuck him in there at the left tackle position.
10:31That didn't work.
10:32So now Salyer is healthy.
10:33And they believe when he is healthy, he is a guy that gives him the best chance to move forward.
10:39Here's Jared Patterson who was just signed to the roster yesterday off the practice squad.
10:44He crosses the 40 and gets down to the 39-yard line.
10:47And Jeremy Chin and Devin White combined on the stop.
10:52And look at that.
10:53No surprise at all if you think about Jim Harbaugh, his reputation, how he likes to play the game.
10:59If they run it 25 times or more, 16-1 since the beginning of 2024.
11:05Just one carry less per game.
11:08And the record drops to 2-9.
11:09So obviously the magic number we're looking for is 25 today by the Chargers.
11:15And already 5.
11:16This is their sixth rush of this drive.
11:20And it's Patterson again.
11:23Devin White who leads the Raiders in tackles.
11:26Makes the play in its third down for Los Angeles.
11:29Jared Patterson coming into this game and getting carries early.
11:32Just up from the practice squad as Andrew talked about.
11:35Jason, the evolution of the practice squad.
11:37You've seen it throughout your career.
11:40Practice squad guys aren't really outside the team now.
11:42They're part of the roster, aren't they?
11:43They are.
11:44You have guys at any level of experience.
11:46Guys from first-year polls all the way to 10-year polls that are on that practice squad.
11:51Vidal on third and one.
11:53And he picks up the first time.
11:56Chargers were hoping that Omari and Hampton would get back on the field.
12:01He was back at practice this week coming off IR.
12:05But it was revealed that he had a left ankle fracture.
12:09So he's going to take a little more time.
12:11And the Chargers are hopeful that maybe he can play next Monday night against Philadelphia.
12:15He's starting to get some work in practice.
12:16Starting to look pretty good.
12:18But I think the Chargers did a nice job of erring on the side of extra time.
12:22Let's make sure he truly is right before we bring him back.
12:25Seven of the eight plays on this drive have been on the ground.
12:30It's first and 10.
12:31Now Herbert to the air.
12:33And he locates Vidal across the 30.
12:36Still on his feet.
12:37And that extra effort may have given him enough for a first down.
12:43Devin White on the stop.
12:45And with that spot, it looks like the Chargers have enough to move the chains.
12:50This is a good job by Justin Herbert.
12:52He's looking down the field, and the Raiders are playing a soft zone.
12:55So he checks the ball down to Vidal.
12:58Watching this game and watching the Raiders on defense, Pat Graham, he's been an aggressive play caller on the defensive side.
13:06Causing chaos when you watch their games.
13:08The blend of him and Pete Carroll, you see it.
13:11They're a little bit of a softer defense this year.
13:13Trying to keep the ball in front of them.
13:15And not really getting the pressure of different things they've done in the past.
13:18Back on the ground by Dell.
13:19All stood up at the 20.
13:22I think what you're saying is philosophy and approach, right?
13:26Pete Carroll made his bones in Seattle.
13:29Cover three, cover one.
13:31With those superior defensive players in Seattle, the Legion of Boom.
13:34Here, he doesn't have that.
13:36But those are his roots.
13:38And so he's working those in along with what Patrick Graham, as you noted.
13:41Patrick Graham's blitz zero.
13:43Bring the house.
13:45You know, get after him.
13:46So they're trying to make sure that they work together on that smash together philosophies to come up with something that's coherent.
13:56Empty backfield for Herbert on second down.
13:59Crosby coming off the edge.
14:00The pass is caught by Quinton Johnston, who's taken down by Darion Porter after a gain of three.
14:06And now third down for the Chargers.
14:09Do you guys just marvel at Herbert's arm the way I do?
14:11I'm pretty sure you do.
14:12And the reason I brought that up, that coverage was not bad coverage.
14:16That ball seemed to, like, accelerate and get to the right spot where the defensive back had no chance, even though he's right on the hip of the receiver.
14:23This drive approaching seven minutes in length.
14:29Third down and five.
14:35Might be getting that pressure that we just talked about from Pat Graham.
14:42Herbert fires, and it's caught.
14:44Another first down.
14:46And another Keenan Allen first down reception.
14:49L.A. now three for three on this drive on third downs.
14:54And that's just a beautiful job by Justin Herbert, because you saw all the Raiders guys at the line of scrimmage.
15:00Herbert starts to motion.
15:01He starts to check.
15:02Then you see the Raiders did the same exact thing.
15:05They went from showing pressure to only rushing three guys.
15:08Herbert sees it as soon as the ball hits his hands, gets the ball out quick, and is able to pick up the first down.
15:13That's the trust between the quarterback and the wide receiver of seeing the same thing.
15:19Play action.
15:24Herbert hanging in there.
15:26Here comes the pressure.
15:27He's out of the pocket.
15:28Herbert trying to cut back at the 10 and hit hard by Jeremy Chin.
15:33That's an exceptional open field tackle by Jeremy Chin.
15:39Wasn't it?
15:41I mean, angle did not overrun the play.
15:44And then wraps him up with both arms, shoulder pad.
15:48Is that what we call teaching tape?
15:50Man.
15:50That's when you're going to take that reel and say, this is how I want you to tackle.
15:54And this is how the league wants you to tackle in 2025.
15:57Shoulder, no head.
15:58But he didn't end up overrunning it.
16:01He's kept the right angle and put him on the deck.
16:07Chargers can get a first down without scoring a touchdown.
16:11Herbert standing in there again.
16:13Now throws.
16:13It's complete.
16:14Johnston pinballs in.
16:16Touchdown!
16:17Quinton Johnston with his seventh touchdown of the year.
16:23And a drive that took up nearly nine minutes culminates in the Chargers' fifth opening drive touchdown of the year.
16:34Chargers go into an empty center.
16:36You'll see Johnson coming across the field.
16:39Ends up matched up with a linebacker in Devin White.
16:42And that's an advantage for the Chargers.
16:43As Justin Herbert sees it, stays alive, steps up into the pocket, delivers the throw.
16:49Just an excellent execution by him down in the red zone where they have struggled this season.
16:5414 plays, 74 yards.
16:57And the extra point by Cameron Dicker is good.
17:03Just what Greg Roman and the Chargers were looking for.
17:08Up 7-0.
17:09Back in Los Angeles where the Chargers have jumped out to a 7-0 lead on Las Vegas.
17:21Cameron Dicker will kick it off with Dylan Lauby and Raheem Mostert back deep for the Raiders.
17:28It will be Lauby from his own three-yard line.
17:40Lauby stops short of the 30s.
17:43Well, a moment ago, Justin Herbert left the field to go into the Chargers' locker room.
17:53And when you go back to the hit by Jeremy Chin, which we'll show you in a moment,
17:57looked like Herbert got hit in the hand.
18:01And he's going back to get a little more attention on that.
18:04So, AJ Ross is down there.
18:05We'll get you an update as soon as she has one.
18:07Interesting, because it looked like it got hit on his throwing hand,
18:10but I believe it's his offhand that's got the concern going right now.
18:15He was 5-for-5 on that drive for 39 yards.
18:19Here's Geno Smith.
18:20And he's got a wide open Brock Bowers.
18:23Plenty of room to run as Bowers goes into L.A. territory, picks up 26 yards.
18:31Brock Bowers, you'll see him aligned outside a lot,
18:35but this time he's in line at that tight end position
18:37and just catches an easy, shallow route coming across the field.
18:41And Greg Olsen, the offensive coordinator, he spoke to us and said,
18:44he's the guy we need to get in that tight end role more than being out wide.
18:48He's in that tight end role.
18:49He's going to win most of those battles.
18:51Here's Chenty, and he's taken down.
18:56What a good tackle by Bud Dupree.
18:58And only one yard picked up on first down.
19:03Look up trying to change the tempo a little bit as Greg Olsen,
19:07the new offensive coordinator and play caller,
19:09getting right back on the line of scrimmage,
19:12trying to move a little bit quicker
19:13and see if they can find a rhythm on offense.
19:17And two flags down in the secondary.
19:22First charge timeout of a half, Los Angeles.
19:26Jesse Minter said, you can forget that.
19:29The defensive coordinator of the Chargers,
19:31you're not changing the rhythm on us without us getting prepared for it.

20:05Just so I'd let you know.
20:07I'm surprised you went with the sport code.
20:10No electronic.
20:11It just gets you another.
20:12I'm sure you have a thousand sports codes.
20:15I would go electronics,
20:16because I don't know how to even turn them on.
20:20We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving
20:22as we get set for more of the holidays looming ahead.
20:31Here's Gentry.
20:34And just gets a yard on the play.
20:37Tierra Tartt on the stop.
20:39And now third down for Las Vegas.
20:41Be interesting to see, Jason,
20:43how the Raiders decide to go about this running game.
20:46We know they want to run it more,
20:48but will they be discouraged early by some runs like we've seen from Gentry?
20:51The first run was a good one.
20:53Since then, it's been maybe one yard a pop.
20:56Will you stay with it?
20:57Because I think they need to.
20:59When they keep running the football,
21:01it helps keep them in ball games.
21:03And you keep it away from Herbert and the Chargers offense.
21:06I can tell we're on double-digit weeks,
21:08because I was going to ask you the same example.
21:09We're there?
21:10We're there.
21:11We're right there.
21:11I love it.
21:14Play clock at one.
21:17Geno Smith didn't get the snap-off in time.
21:19Now, did Las Vegas get a timeout in first?
21:24Prior to the expiration of the play clock,
21:26first charge timeout, Las Vegas.
21:29It will be 30 seconds.
21:31Shades of Packers-Lions on Thursday.
21:34Timeout before the penalty as we check in with A.J.
21:38Well, Andrew, the Raiders teamed up with Three Square Food Bank
21:41to host their annual turkey time with the O-line
21:43to help provide Thanksgiving meals to families
21:46in need of food assistance this holiday season.
21:48Marking its 12th year, turkey time has become a tradition,
21:51bringing Raiders players, staff, and volunteers together
21:54to give back to the community.
21:56And the Raiders offensive line collectively raised money
21:58to purchase and distribute the meals
21:59with the help of Three Square
22:01and approximately 1,000 meals were given
22:04to hundreds of locals.
22:07A.J., thank you.
22:08Great job by Las Vegas
22:10as they continue to develop a strong presence
22:14in that community.
22:21Chargers fans making some noise.
22:23It's third down and nine.
22:25That's Tucker in motion.
22:28Pressure coming.
22:29Gino hit.
22:30Gino sacked.
22:31Derwin James.
22:35He came flying in the backfield,
22:38and the Raiders will punt.
22:42Jesse Mitchell on third down.
22:44He's going to challenge all of your protections.
22:47We're going to see Derwin James on the outside.
22:49He's coming off the edge,
22:51but then we're going to see droppers in here in the middle.
22:53That makes it hard for Gino Smith
22:55to know exactly where to go with the ball
22:57before he knows it.
22:58Derwin James, Henley,
22:59all of those guys are right in your face.
23:01That's just an amazing call by Jesse Mentor
23:03of the disguise before the snap.
23:06A loss of nine on the play
23:08as A.J. Cole is putting to Davis again,
23:11and he calls for a fair catch at the seven-yard line.
23:14So Gino Smith already sacked twice late stages
23:19of the first quarter.
23:23We showed you Justin Herbert
23:25going into the Los Angeles locker room.
23:28He is still not out there.
23:29So Trey Lance,
23:31who did play the fourth quarter
23:33in the last game against Jacksonville,
23:35the blowout loss to the Jaguars,
23:37it is Lance appearing now
23:39in his third game with L.A.
23:41Jason, you emphasize the offensive line
23:43in our open.
23:44They're really going to get tested here.
23:47Vidal on first down,
23:49and no gain on the play.
23:52Now this was the hit
23:53that Herbert took
23:55courtesy of Jeremy Chin
23:57on the previous drive.
23:59He's just scrambling on the outside.
24:03Goes to make a move.
24:04And Jeremy Chin comes up,
24:05makes a textbook tackle,
24:06but look at the placement
24:07of his helmet
24:08that that left hand
24:09goes back down.
24:10Hard to see exactly
24:11where he might have gotten hit,
24:13but it looks like
24:14he's holding that hand
24:15as he's running into the locker room.
24:17So we're still waiting to hear
24:18exactly what Justin Herbert
24:19has going on,
24:20but for right now,
24:21it's Trey Lance's show.
24:24In his first season with L.A.,
24:26throwing left,
24:27he's got a completion
24:28to Trey Harris,
24:29who's shoved out of bounds
24:30by Darian Porter.
24:32Going to be a big third and short,
24:35and that should go on
24:36to this offensive line.
24:37Can you wedge out enough space
24:39to pick up the first down
24:40and keep things moving?
24:42Nice little pitch and catch
24:43here by Lance.
24:44Throwing it out to the sideline,
24:46puts it right on him.
24:47Harris doesn't quite get
24:48to the first down marker.
24:50So if you're the Raiders right now,
24:51this is a great opportunity.
24:53Load up against the run,
24:55see if you can stuff him here
24:56and get the ball back
24:57with good field position
24:58for Patrick Graham's group.
25:02Third down and one.
25:10Pullback Matlock in motion.
25:12Lance dropped the football.
25:13Boy, was he fortunate
25:14that it's a false start.
25:16Penalty out before.
25:20False start.
25:21Offense number 79.
25:22Five-yard penalty.
25:24Third down.
25:25If there's no false start
25:26and that ball's on the ground,
25:29that could be a huge play
25:30for the Las Vegas Raiders.
25:33Trey Pipkins called for his
25:35fourth false start of the year.
25:3779, the right tackle.
25:39It was Pipkins.
25:40And then all the havoc
25:42started to happen inside.
25:44You'll see Pipkins.
25:44Oh, that's, uh, excuse me.
25:46That's Makai Beckton there.
25:50AJ, what's the latest
25:51with Herbert?
25:52Well, Andrew,
25:53as you've been mentioning,
25:53they've been paying attention
25:54to his left hand,
25:56not his throwing hand.
25:57He is still back
25:58in the locker room
25:58at this moment.
25:59I'm being told
26:00he is questionable
26:01to return to this one, guys.
26:02Wow.
26:03Okay, AJ, thank you.
26:04Third down and six.
26:05And Lance will just
26:07give it to Vidal
26:08who turns the corner
26:09and picks up the first down.
26:11Wow, big.
26:12A play to close out
26:14the first quarter
26:15here at SoFi.
26:17An eight-yard run
26:19on third down.
26:22Through one in L.A.,
26:257-0 Chargers on CBS.
26:327-0 Los Angeles.
26:34Aerial coverage of today's game
26:35is provided by Goodyear.
26:37Chargers wearing
26:39their Super Chargers uniforms.
26:43That guy's charged up.
26:46They wore him against the Vikings,
26:48won that game,
26:48they'll wear him again
26:49against Houston.
26:50As we open up the second quarter
26:51with Vidal on the ground.
26:53He just picked up that
26:54first down as L.A.
26:56is now four for four
26:57on third down
26:58so far in this first half.
27:01So now we have to take a look
27:02at the possibility
27:03of Trey Lance getting
27:04extended playing time.
27:05Jason, you remember him
27:07coming out of college.
27:08Big move by San Francisco
27:10taking him to number three overall.
27:12Was supposed to be the guy.
27:13Too many injuries.
27:14Goes to Dallas, comes here.
27:16If he does play,
27:17extended,
27:18we'll get into it
27:18after this play.
27:19What are you expecting
27:20from him
27:20as Herbert reappears
27:22on the sideline?
27:22With a big glove
27:23on his left hand
27:25but not coming out
27:26on the field just yet
27:27as Lance
27:27out of the pocket
27:29has some room to run.
27:30Now he'll take off
27:31and he slides down
27:33just short of the marker.
27:36Fans wanted a late hit.
27:38Jeremy Chin on the tackle.
27:40I'm glad it wasn't a late hit
27:41because of a late slide
27:42and it wasn't malicious
27:44in the hit
27:44but it'd be interesting
27:45to see if he can actually
27:46take a snap
27:47under center
27:48with all that padding
27:49with the glove
27:50or will they have to go
27:51mainly gun
27:52to avoid
27:53any type of issues.
27:54You see that?
27:55Because the padding
27:56is on the front side
27:57and the back side
27:58of his hand.
27:59It's in the palm
28:00and it's on the top
28:02it appears.
28:02It appears like a big pad there.
28:04Can he take the football
28:05receive it
28:06without it being bobbled?
28:08Third and one.
28:11Vidal
28:11may have taken a face mask
28:13but he picks up
28:14the first down
28:15and now the flag is out.
28:16So once again
28:17the Chargers convert
28:19on third down
28:20unless this one's
28:21coming back
28:22as the officials
28:25are now huddled up
28:26and Max Crosby
28:27is indicating
28:27it is against L.A.
28:31As you know
28:33he would.
28:35Looks like a face mask
28:36so I don't know about that.
28:38I'm still waiting
28:38for the day
28:39a player
28:40who says
28:40no it's on us.
28:42Personal foul
28:42face mask
28:43defense
28:44number 45
28:4515 yard punch
28:47is added on
28:47to the end of the run
28:48with an automatic
28:49first down.
28:50Face mask
28:51on Devin White
28:52who's having
28:53a heck of a season.
28:54This is like
28:54a comeback year
28:55for Devin White
28:56who was an all pro
28:57when he was in Tampa
28:58and had fallen off
29:00in recent years
29:01but he's back playing
29:02near the level
29:03we had seen before.
29:04It looks like
29:04Herbie's trying his best
29:06to tell everybody
29:07he's ready to go.
29:08I think to your point
29:09when you look at that hand
29:10it almost looks like
29:11there's a cast there.
29:12He's not moving
29:13his fingers
29:14anything
29:14is kind of just
29:15planted there.
29:16fingers are taped
29:17in the middle
29:18to hold them together.
29:21Here's Patterson
29:22and he gets out
29:24to midfield.
29:25We were talking
29:26about this
29:26during the commercial
29:27break but
29:27Herbert is a tough guy.
29:29He's played
29:2997% of the Chargers
29:32snaps since the
29:33beginning of last year.
29:34Have to be something
29:35pretty serious
29:36to keep him
29:37out of a game
29:38which it is right now.
29:39Agreed.
29:39Two of the most
29:40underrated
29:41tough guy quarterbacks
29:42that we don't talk about.
29:43Justin Herbert
29:45Matthew Stafford
29:46we saw Stafford
29:48play through stuff
29:48in Detroit
29:49and he could barely
29:50practice all week
29:51and he'd answer
29:52the bell on a Sunday
29:53and you notice
29:54Herbert's not running
29:55out there.
29:55It's almost like
29:56Jim Harbaugh said
29:57let's keep the rhythm
29:58of this drive
29:59and we'll figure it
30:00out in between.
30:03It is Lance
30:04keeping it
30:05trying to get
30:05to the outside
30:06and pushed
30:07out of bounds.
30:12And now
30:12Herbert is coming
30:13back in
30:14to a huge
30:16ovation here
30:17at SoFi.
30:25But typically
30:26when they take
30:27two fingers together
30:28Jason
30:28what does that
30:29tell you?
30:30One of the fingers
30:31has dealt
30:32with an injury
30:33of some form
30:33or fashion.
30:34And you're
30:34keeping it together
30:35so it's not
30:36flopping around
30:36on you.
30:37Yep.
30:38And he comes
30:38in on a third
30:39down guys
30:40to have to
30:41make a throw.
30:41third and four
30:44and this one
30:45has stopped
30:46a false start
30:47against L.A.
30:49False start
30:50offense
30:51number 68
30:52five yard penalty
30:53third down.
30:55That's on
30:55Salyer
30:56who's getting
30:57the start
30:58at left tackle.
31:00Let's go back
31:01to earlier
31:02when Herbert
31:02ran off the field
31:03and now look
31:04at his
31:05left hand
31:06and that
31:07finger right
31:10there.
31:17Wow.
31:18That's why
31:19it's taped up.
31:20Let's see what
31:20we can do
31:20on third
31:21down and ten.
31:27Herbert throwing
31:28and completing it
31:29to Keenan Allen
31:30for a first
31:32down
31:32and they're
31:34now six
31:35for six
31:35on third
31:36downs
31:36in the
31:36first half.
31:38What finger
31:39were you
31:39talking about?
31:41What's wrong
31:41with me?
31:42It's just a
31:42throwing one.
31:43Oh not the
31:43throwing one
31:44it puts this
31:44ball on the
31:45money.
31:46On the
31:46reverse side
31:47if I'm
31:47the Raiders
31:47on third
31:48down
31:48Keenan Allen
31:49is not
31:50going to
31:50catch the
31:50football
31:50against me.
31:51I'm going
31:51to double
31:52team him.
31:53I'm going
31:53to get up
31:53at the
31:53line of
31:54scrimmage.
31:54I'm going
31:54to jam
31:55him.
31:55I've been
31:56out there
31:56on the
31:56field trying
31:57to cover
31:57that guy.
32:00Herbert seemed
32:02to bobble
32:03the snap
32:03but not
32:04a great
32:04exchange
32:05with Fidel.
32:07No gain
32:08on the
32:08play.
32:09And am
32:09I mistaken
32:10but I
32:12don't believe
32:12he's gone
32:12under center
32:13guys.
32:13And a
32:14late flag
32:14comes out.
32:18Two flags
32:19down on
32:19the field
32:19and they're
32:21pointing
32:21against
32:22Las Vegas.
32:23Possible
32:24taunting
32:24when you
32:25see something
32:26like that
32:26after the
32:26whistle.
32:27After the
32:27play
32:27on
32:28sportsmanlike
32:28conduct
32:29defense
32:29number
32:3045
32:30to
32:31the
32:3115
32:32run
32:32penalty
32:32with an
32:33automatic
32:33close down.
32:34Another penalty
32:35on Devin
32:35White who
32:36was called
32:36for the
32:37face mask
32:37earlier
32:38in this
32:38quarter.
32:42And
32:42unsportsmanlike
32:43conduct
32:43post play
32:44did he get
32:45into it
32:45with someone?
32:48He's right
32:48here
32:49Devin
32:49White.
32:52Oh
32:52a nice
32:53wham
32:53over the
32:54top
32:54of him.
32:55A little
32:55extra
32:55that you
32:56just
32:56don't
32:57need.
32:58And
32:58when you're
32:592-9
32:59and struggling
33:00in every
33:00phase
33:01don't
33:01give them
33:02something
33:02extra.
33:03I mean
33:03by the
33:04way
33:04Devin
33:05White's
33:05a tough
33:05guy
33:05as it
33:06is
33:06that's
33:06not
33:06going to
33:07prove
33:07any
33:07extra
33:07toughness.
33:09Just make
33:09the play
33:09and get
33:10back to
33:10the home.
33:11Herbert in
33:12the shotgun.
33:13play
33:20play action.
33:22Herbert
33:22throwing.
33:23He's got a
33:23wide open
33:24Gadsden
33:24inside the
33:26five.
33:28A rookie
33:28tight end
33:29picks up
33:3028 yards
33:32and it's
33:32first and
33:33goal for
33:33Los Angeles.
33:36This
33:36seemed like
33:37an easy
33:37release for
33:38Gadsden to get
33:39right up the
33:40seam, right?
33:41Right up the
33:41middle of the
33:42whole thing and
33:43there it is and
33:44it just parted in
33:45terms of coverage.
33:47Guys who were in
33:48zones parted one to
33:49the left, one to
33:50the right and
33:51opened all this
33:52space for Gadsden to
33:53come right up the
33:54seam and Herbert
33:55finds it.
33:56He's spotted at the
33:57two.
33:57Out of the shotgun
33:58by Dale up the
33:59middle and
34:00chin pushes him
34:01back.
34:04Second and goal
34:05coming for L.A.
34:07Jason, these would
34:08be goal line plays.
34:09A quarterback would
34:09be under center a
34:10lot.
34:11I'm not sure that
34:11Los Angeles can do
34:12that now with
34:13Herbert's hand.
34:14Watch the hand
34:14off.
34:15He hands this
34:15ball off with
34:16his right hand
34:17opposed to his
34:18left hand because
34:19of the glove and
34:20everything he has
34:21going on.
34:22He's forced to do
34:22it in an awkward
34:23position handing that
34:25football off.
34:25We've got to pay
34:26attention to your
34:26point, Charles.
34:27throughout the
34:28course of this
34:28game, how that
34:29impacts him on the
34:30small things.
34:32Trevor Penning is
34:34in the game for
34:34Los Angeles.
34:36Vidal trying to
34:37get to the outside
34:38cannot.
34:39Chopped up by
34:40Landon Roberts.
34:42And now it's
34:43third and goal.
34:44You know him
34:45pretty well, don't
34:46you, Jason?
34:46Landon Roberts.
34:47He's what Mike
34:48Tomlin used to
34:49say.
34:50He's my nine-on-seven
34:51line backer, meaning
34:52run enforcer.
34:54Nine-on-seven.
34:55That's when you get
34:55into practice.
34:56It is basically
34:57buckling your chin
34:58straps up.
34:59It's a run play.
35:00We all know it.
35:01Run downhill.
35:02And 52 in the
35:03white jersey.
35:04Down here in this
35:05park, you can believe
35:06he is flying downhill
35:08every single play and
35:10looking for contact.
35:11He landed Roberts
35:12right in the middle of
35:13their defense.
35:13and a timeout called by
35:17Jim Harbaugh running on
35:18the field to call that
35:19one his second of the
35:21half.
35:25Harbaugh 3-0 since
35:28joining the Chargers in
35:29his time against the
35:30Raiders.
35:30All three wins by at
35:32least 11 points.
35:33What's interesting is that
35:37Justin Herbert's ability
35:38to run, how much will
35:39they tell him we don't
35:40want you doing that now
35:41with his hand?
35:42This would actually be an
35:43ideal spot for Trey Lance
35:45and his running ability,
35:46but you're not really
35:47changing quarterbacks like
35:48you would in the college
35:49game.
35:50So they got to figure out
35:52Greg Roman's working
35:53through that now.
35:54What do I call here that
35:56minimizes any contact for
35:58my superstar quarterback?
36:00Be alert for Gadsden up
36:01top.
36:02Big, big weapon down here
36:04in the red zone.
36:07Third and goal.
36:11Play clock at two.
36:14Herbert takes the snap.
36:15Looking left.
36:16Throwing left.
36:17And it is picked off.
36:19Intercepted by Kelly.
36:25Caillou blew Kelly with his
36:27third interception of the
36:29season.
36:37Third time that Los Angeles
36:39has turned it over in the
36:40red zone this year.
36:42And the Vegas defense comes
36:44up big.
36:49And you can always count on
36:53Sundays with the NFL on CBS and
36:56Paramount Plus.
36:57There's the Paramount lot.
36:59The tree is up.
37:01And Las Vegas takes over deep
37:03in its own end after the
37:04interception.
37:06Geno Smith in the shotgun
37:07awaiting the snap.
37:08Hand off to Chetty.
37:12And that is Mack coming up to make
37:15the tackle as we go back to the
37:17INT.
37:19Just a great job by Blue Kelly.
37:21And right now, they're just trying
37:22to get McConkie out here and then
37:24get this route.
37:25So now for the Raiders, watch Blue
37:27Kelly and what he does.
37:29He makes it look like man comes
37:30off of his guy and now steps in
37:32front and is able to come up with
37:34the interception.
37:35Looks like man to man.
37:37Then they snap the ball.
37:38Justin Herbert double clutched it.
37:39Wasn't sure.
37:40Believed he had it to the outside.
37:42A really good job by Blue Kelly.
37:44Looks like banjo coverage.
37:45We take who comes into your area.
37:47Don't chase anyone out of your zone.
37:49Just the ninth offensive play of the
37:52game for Las Vegas.
37:53Smith in his own end zone.
37:54Taking a shot down the sideline.
37:56And it is incomplete.
37:59Coming over was Tony Jefferson.
38:01I think he was out of bounds.
38:02But he did catch it.
38:04And the officials are discussing it.
38:07Jefferson thinks he has an INT.
38:10And they are giving it to him.
38:15It was intended for Dante Thornton.
38:18And Jefferson the last man in.
38:21And he's all smiles.
38:25As Vegas wants to take a look.
38:29All turnover subject to review.
38:32I think he's got it.
38:39It is an INT.
