PJ Morton chatted with The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet of the 2023 Grammy Awards.

00:00Six years nominated, five years winning if I win today.

00:03And it's just surreal, really.

00:05You know, it's like it's a dream come true.

00:07So it never gets old.

00:09You know, I take it in like it's the first time every time.

00:12So it's exciting for sure.

00:14What would it mean to win a Grammy for this project in particular?

00:17Yeah, well, this album means so much to me.

00:20I worked on it at a crazy time right in the middle of the pandemic

00:24and was really able to go as deep, you know, because I had time.

00:28And so it would just mean a lot for that to be appreciated.

00:31It already means so much that it's nominated to win would be amazing.

00:35Yeah.

00:35Now you already have a lot of Grammys at home.

00:37Where do you keep them?

00:39Like where will you add another one to if you, you know, win tonight?

00:42Well, my shelf is getting a little, it is a little crowded.

00:45I can't lie.

00:46There's no flex, you know.

00:47But so I'm going to have to get a bigger, I'm going to have to get a bigger bookcase, I think.

00:51Yeah, it's just in my bookcase in my office at home.

00:54You need to add another shelf.

00:55I think, I mean, I'm going to have to do something.

00:58Something's got to happen, yeah, because it's a little crowded, I can't lie.

01:01So much amazing music was released this last year.

01:04Who were you listening to on repeat?

01:06Oh, man.

01:07I mean, I had that Kendrick album on repeat for sure.

01:12Newcomer, Samara Joy, is somebody who I've been loving.

01:15So much good music, so much good music, you know.

01:18I know there's a lot of collaborations on this album that is nominated tonight.

01:21But who's a Grammy nominee this year that you'd love to collaborate with

01:25who you haven't collaborated with yet?

01:27Well, I mean, I just said Kendrick is someone, you know, who I was listening to this year.

01:32Never worked with Kendrick.

01:33Would love to do that at some point, for sure.

01:36Yeah.

01:37Beyonce could break the all-time Grammy wins record tonight.

01:41Could be a really big year for her.

01:43And that's it.

01:44She breaks it.

01:45Exactly.

01:50A little better.

01:50What would you say has been her impact on the music industry?

01:55Oh, man.

01:55I think if nothing else, she's shown how much hard work pays off.

02:01I mean, I've heard that she works harder than everybody.

02:04And so she deserves everything that she gets.

02:07She deserves to have as many Grammys as anybody because she works that hard.

02:12If you do win tonight, how are you going to celebrate after the show is over?

02:15You know, I used to set up little dinners and things like that.

02:18And then I lost so many times that I just stopped playing and anything.

02:21So I just kind of go with the flow now.

02:23I don't plan.

02:24I'll get some food.

02:25I'm sure P3 will be hungry, my son.

02:27Yeah.

02:28And is there anything coming up for you that you can tease that you're excited about?

02:32Well, you know, I'm also, aside from my solo stuff that I'm nominated for today,

02:35I'm also the keyboard player in Maroon 5.

02:38And we're gearing up.

02:39We start rehearsals right after this for our Vegas residency that's coming up at the end of March.

02:44So I'm locking straight into that after this, you know.

02:48Yeah.
