Kid Harpoon chatted with The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet of the 2023 Grammy Awards.

00:00How does it feel to be here tonight as a Grammy nominee?

00:04Great, and it feels like a big one for me.

00:07I've got a few, so it feels like a celebration.

00:10I feel like you can't really lose at an event like this.

00:13You feel like a winner just being here, so I feel like great.

00:16Yeah, it feels awesome.

00:18Now, both Harry Styles and Lizzo, who you worked with,

00:21they are both performing tonight.

00:22Are you excited for those performances?

00:23What do you think we're going to see?

00:25I mean, I'm not going to lie,

00:26I've maybe seen a little bit of Harry's performance,

00:28and it was amazing.

00:31But I can't wait to see it because he always holds,

00:33he always keeps a little in the tank,

00:35and then when it goes, what I love is you get to see him,

00:38you can see what he's been planning in his head,

00:40so he'll go full tilt for it, so I'm really excited about it.

00:43And Lizzo's always, I mean, that girl can sing,

00:47so I can't wait for that, yeah.

00:49What's one thing about working with Harry Styles

00:51that you think might surprise people?

00:53I think it might surprise people.

00:59I mean, I think I'd probably say just our friendship

01:04is the most unique thing about that relationship

01:07and working with him.

01:08It's like, it's no holds barred.

01:10There's no politeness.

01:11I mean, he's a very smart, calculated, together guy.

01:15When we're together and we're working,

01:17so passionate about what we're doing,

01:18sometimes it's very like,

01:20no, we should do it like this, and we'll get into it,

01:22and we'll argue and fight over things,

01:24and there's a lot of that that you don't see,

01:26you know, the struggle in making things work behind it.

01:28So I think that's kind of surprising,

01:30but we have that because of our friendship,

01:32so I don't know.

01:33Now, you've worked on so much of the music

01:35that we were listening to in 2022,

01:38but what were you listening to?

01:39What was on repeat for you this past year?

01:42Band called Fontaines DC, who are from Ireland,

01:45probably, to me, one of the best bands

01:47in the world right now.

01:47I love them, and I was surprised

01:50they weren't nominated for anything, actually,

01:51but I love Fontaines DC and a bit of Little Yachty.

01:56I love Little Yachty, so I was listening to a bit of that.

01:58Poland he brought out, it was incredible.

02:01But I'm always in the studio working,

02:03so it's a bit of a busman's holiday

02:04listening to music sometimes.

02:05Sometimes I just want to go home

02:07and listen to older records that aren't so new,

02:10so I do a lot of that.

02:11If you win a Grammy tonight,

02:12where will you put the trophy?

02:15In my toilet.

02:16In the toilet?

02:18Yeah, that's one of the trophies and awards,

02:19in the toilet,

02:20because everyone uses your bathroom, right?

02:22And they have to look at it.

02:23Yeah, yeah, yeah.

02:24It's too much pressure in the studio,

02:26so toilet, great.

02:28I love that.

02:28And what are you going to do tonight

02:29after the show's over to celebrate

02:31if you win big?

02:33Get drunk and party, yeah.

02:37I feel like Harry Styles is probably

02:38a great person to party with.

02:40What's your take on that?

02:42Yeah, I've seen him party.

02:43That guy can party, so yeah.

02:45I'm just glad, you know,

02:47I'm just glad we'll be around people

02:49that can help contain him,

02:51because I'm tired of doing that.

02:52So I'm going to do my own party.

02:55That's too funny.

02:56I love that.
