00:25The snub follows Cruise returning his three Golden Globe statues last year amid the controversy surrounding the show's governing body,
00:34the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
00:36Cruise won the Best Actor honor in 1990 for Born on the Fourth of July and again in 1997 for Jerry Maguire.
00:43He also received a Best Supporting Actor award in 2000 for Magnolia.
00:46The HFPA came under fire after an LA Times report detailed that the organization counted zero black journalists among its then 87 members.
00:55At the time, many actors and companies called for changes from the organization.
00:59After a year off the air, the Golden Globes are returning to NBC on January 10th.
01:04As for Top Gun Maverick, the film has had a massive 2022, bringing in over $1.4 billion at the global box office.
01:11It is considered an early frontrunner for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, among other categories.
