00:00Behold, your thorn king.
00:03We have cloudy skies and little to no sunshine for the movies this weekend.
00:09All right, if the forecast is right, the second weekend of summer at the North American box office could be problematic.
00:15According to The Hollywood Reporter's box office bomb alert, it's looking like the pricey King Arthur, Legend of the Sword, is headed for a week debut.
00:24The dark retelling of the mythic royal tale is projected to bow in the $25 million range domestically after costing Warner Brothers and Village Roadshow at least $175 million to produce before a major marketing spend.
00:37The movie will need to do mighty business overseas in order to come out in the black.
00:41Starring Charlie Hunnam as the title character, King Arthur's opening also has been delayed several times.
00:46In his review of the film, The Hollywood Reporter's chief film critic, Tom McCarthy, called the mythical retelling loud, bombastic, and thuddingly obvious.
00:55This is a vulgar movie for vulgar times.
00:58That wasn't necessarily an insult, however.
01:00He goes on to add that it can't be denied that Guy Ritchie, who hasn't been deemed a director of creative interest since his early lock stock and snatch days,
01:07and certainly least of all for his hugely lucrative Sherlock Holmes entries, does pull off some quick-witted and clever sequences here.
01:14Others don't share even McCarthy's grudging enthusiasm as the movie has faced a less-than-epic critical consensus.
01:21Meanwhile, Disney and Marvel's superhero temple, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, is easily expected to stay atop the chart with $60 million or more.
01:29The sequel opened to an impressive $146.5 million last weekend in North America and has grossed north of $450 million globally to date.
01:39The weekend's other new nationwide offering is the female-fueled Snatched, starring Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn.
01:45The R-rated action comedy from Fox hopes to profit from Mother's Day, though it won't come close to matching the $30 million debut of Schumer's R-rated comedy Trainwreck in July 2011.
01:56Instead, tracking suggests the movie will open in the mid-teens.
01:59So, what do you think will happen at the box office this weekend?
02:01And what do you guys want to see?
