Tim Miller Explains Why He Chose ‘Terminator’ After ‘Deadpool’

00:00you sent me the script for Deadpool I think probably three years before you made it and

00:09and you know I remember saying you you need to make this like forget about that moon project

00:14and that other project you need to make this right now you and for people in Hollywood like

00:19if you send somebody a script usually you hear back two months later whether they liked it after

00:23asking them five times I sent Jim to test and he's like oh this is fucking great send me the

00:28script and I sent him the script in the next day he's like oh they should be making this movie I'm

00:32gonna call somebody and he got us another at-bat on Deadpool which we needed every at-bat until we

00:39finally got on base right now you had a lot of heat coming off of Deadpool and instead of doing

00:46something that is not based on pre-existing material you decided to do this why this to some degree all

00:52the stories that I love are based on pre-existing materials it's either a book I love or a movie I

00:57love and I don't make a whole lot of distinction between those two things story is story and if

01:02somebody said hey you can you can make this great book into a movie or hey you can play in this great

01:08sandbox that is a whole world that has been realized with the Terminator films I just want to play in

01:14that sandbox the other movies are what they are but I feel like there was so much more to be done with

01:19these characters I mean I wanted to make Deadpool 2 there's no you know I was going to do that until

01:26I wasn't so there was that which took up about seven months of my time but even then we were

01:32talking like after Deadpool 2 it was going to be this so we can thank Ryan Reynolds for you doing

01:37this thank you Ryan I don't feel as confident as Jim does because I've only made one fucking movie

01:44but but I do feel like we we have put together a great group of people to do this and not only that

01:52I got to say that uh I get choked up

01:57sorry I always cry it's not it's I get very emotional I should have I was going to warn Jim

02:04I do like when I do public speaking when I say something emotional but almost the entire Deadpool

02:09crew uh is is going to be on Terminator because yeah and I wouldn't be working with this guy if he

02:19couldn't cry because he comes off as a real hard ass and you need that too but you got to have that

02:24emotional center thank you for covering for me but uh no but the producer stunt coordinator DP

02:30editor um a lot of the the whole team has waited around because we have such a good experience uh and

02:37they're and they're gonna help us make this one
