00:00Jeffrey Tambor has exited Amazon Studios' critically acclaimed comedy, Transparent,

00:04after a wave of sexual harassment allegations against him.

00:07Tambor said in a statement,

00:30The news caught Amazon Studios as well as Transparent creator Jill Soloway by surprise.

00:41However, sources told The Hollywood Reporter last week that Soloway was considering writing Tambor

00:46out of the show and potentially killing off his character Maura Pfefferman.

00:50The decision comes after Transparent cast member Trace Lissette told The Hollywood Reporter,

00:55Tambor sexually harassed her on multiple occasions, claiming he got physical in one instance.

01:00After the alleged assault, which took place on set, Lissette said she felt like she was being targeted

01:05and sexually harassed by the actor. According to the actress, working with Tambor has been a rollercoaster.

01:11She said one minute Jeffrey is lovely, the next it's a temper tantrum or flirtation.

01:15In a statement, Tambor said he can be volatile and ill-tempered to work with, but I have never been a predator ever.

01:21Lissette is the second transgender actress to go public with misconduct allegations against Tambor.

01:26Tambor's former assistant, transgender actress Van Barnes, accused the actor of behaving

01:31in a sexually inappropriate manner in a private social media post.

01:34Amazon immediately launched an investigation into the Transparent star November 8.

01:38Sources say the Transparent writing staff began reworking the upcoming fifth season following news

01:43of the first allegation against Tambor, as the series mulled refocusing the show without its star.

01:48Transparent was renewed for a fifth cycle ahead of season four's debut.

01:52The new season was set to begin production for next year for a late 2018 launch.

01:56It's still unclear how the production will be impacted by Tambor's exit.
