00:00If you talk to me, then I will guide you.
00:03Every day, we're being bombarded by scammers.
00:06I've got no money in my bank.
00:11But we are fighting back.
00:13Working with ethical hacker Jim Browning,
00:16who hacks into scam call centres,
00:18we can tap into this criminal network
00:21and track down the victims to stop the scammers
00:24before they steal.
00:26You should not buy those gift cards.
00:27You're gonna lose your money.
00:28What was that? What was that?
00:29I can assure you that nothing they're saying is true.
00:32You're on the phone to a scammer, my love.
00:34You need to hang up the phone.
00:35Hang out!
00:37This is Scam Interceptors.
00:44On today's episode...
00:46We'll stay on them until they start doing this.
00:48We will disrupt this lot as much as we possibly can.
00:51We confront the prolific scammers
00:53claiming to be from the National Crime Agency.
00:56You're a thief. You're a scammer.
00:58Get f***ing out of here.
01:01You are the prime suspect in this case.
01:03Your national insurance number has been compromised.
01:06The team in the Glasgow Scam Hub
01:08have been monitoring a group of scammers
01:11who are calling British mobile numbers
01:13claiming to be the National Crime Agency,
01:15the UK's leading law enforcement agency
01:18fighting organised crime.
01:20Unit 1, this is Michael Chiazzo from PlayStation.
01:23They're some of the cruelest scammers that we've ever encountered.
01:27I'm making sure that you are going to be arrested.
01:30We've been investigating them for several weeks
01:33and it sounds like they've got their claws into another potential victim.
01:37This call's been going on for 28 minutes
01:40and it is our call centre who are posing as the National Crime Agency
01:43threatening people that their national insurance numbers have been compromised,
01:46used for criminal activity.
01:48To prove that they're not the criminals,
01:50to prove that their money is their own,
01:51what the scammers ask them to do is to go out and buy gift cards
01:54which they say are then going to be given over to officers of the law.
01:59And it sounds like the person on the line might be out and about somewhere,
02:03possibly even buying gift cards
02:04and they've just left the phone in their pocket
02:06with the line open to the scammer.
02:08We only have limited information on the man being targeted,
02:11just a postcode in the south of England.
02:14And with technical challenges too,
02:16it's a struggle to work out exactly what's going on.
02:19I just can't get both sides of the call to work,
02:23but I'm getting the speakers right now but not the mic.
02:28What we have is screen.
02:29Yeah, this is a screen.
02:31Which means we have a postcode.
02:33Yeah, this sounds to me like someone who's out and about
02:35and has the phone in their pocket.
02:36It definitely sounds like that.
02:37So do you think they're already on the way to get the gift cards maybe?
02:40Quite likely.
02:44So I think what we'll do is we'll send our southern GIs
02:47in that general direction
02:48and we'll start trying to get in touch with this person now.
02:50While Nick starts trying to reach the man by phone,
02:52producer Mark dispatches the ground interceptor team,
02:56Mia and Harriet, to the postcode we have.
02:59Plumstead, Woolwich, south of the river.
03:03The GIs in about 48 minutes, they said, away.
03:0848 minutes?
03:0948, yeah.
03:10North Circular, lots of traffic.
03:12A long way.
03:1350 minutes across London is a long way.
03:19With little more than the rustling sounds of a phone in someone's pocket to go on,
03:23it's hard to be sure what's happening until the audio suddenly kicks in.
03:30Oh, that sounds like a phone being picked up.
03:32Yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:33Just do with just like a snippet of conversation.
03:39Just a smudge, right?
03:41Hello?
03:42Here we go.
03:44Hello?
03:45I am continuously calling for your name.
03:47You're not responding.
03:48What is going on there?
03:51Yeah, I guess I was just purchasing for the cards.
03:53I'll call them now.
03:54How, how, how, how would you pay for the cards?
03:56700?
03:57Oh, no.
03:59Call them now.
04:00This is our worst case scenario.
04:03The man has £700 worth of gift cards in his hands.
04:07If he reads out the codes on the back to the scammers,
04:10his money will be gone with no chance of tracing it.
04:14And with the ground team so far away,
04:16it leaves Nick and the hub little choice but to try and contact the man immediately.
04:21Okay, now come out from the store.
04:23Yeah.
04:28All right, now first we need to register those cards, okay?
04:32Registering the cards means handing the scammers the codes.
04:36Oh, no.
04:38So, what you have to do, you need to take the cards out from the packet first.
04:44No, don't do that.
04:46But with the man on the phone to the scammer,
04:48he isn't answering our calls or reading our warning messages.
04:53Oh, God, we need to...
04:56Yeah.
04:57Do we just do a bombard?
04:58No, no, no.
04:59This is the last step.
05:00Then you can go back to the home.
05:02Oh, no.
05:03And we will start working on your case file, okay?
05:06You need to give these three cards to us
05:08so that we can transfer back a £700 on your account.
05:13We have to send these cards to the courthouse
05:15to validate these cards, okay?
05:17This is your hard-earned money.
05:20Huge moment here,
05:21because this guy's clearly bought £700 of the gift cards.
05:23Now, all the scammer needs
05:24is for him to read the voucher codes off the cards
05:27or send pictures of them.
05:28That's it, done.
05:29Money gone.
05:30On the front side of the card,
05:31there is a scratch panel.
05:32You need to scratch it, okay?
05:34Yeah, yeah, yeah.
05:35Yeah, so I...
05:38And once you scratch it,
05:39then you need to take a photograph
05:40and send it to the NCA on WhatsApp.
05:42Oh, no.
05:43Can't get it.
05:44We pass on the latest updates about the scam to the ground team,
05:48still over 40 minutes away.
05:50North circular, lots of traffic.
05:54So he's really deep into the scam here.
05:56We just need to get there as quickly as possible.
05:58In the hub,
06:00none of our efforts to get through to the man
06:02seem to be working.
06:04So, as he edges ever closer to losing his money,
06:08Nick tries something new.
06:10He's not responding.
06:12Trying a WhatsApp call.
06:13Yeah, so just take the card out and scratch the panel.
06:17Have you scratched it?
06:25I knew it.
06:26I'm scratching it.
06:29He sounds like he's scratching.
06:30It does.
06:32Oh, mate.
06:37Oh, my God.
06:38Have you take all the three cards out?
06:41Hello?
06:42Sorry?
06:43Yeah, okay, I'll call you back.
06:44Yes?
06:45Yes!
06:46Suddenly, it sounds as if the man might be having doubts
06:49and he ends the call.
06:51Hello?
06:52Come on.
06:56Hello?
06:58Come on, mate. Answer the phone.
07:00We're now in a battle with the scammers
07:02to get him on the phone.
07:04Come on, mate.
07:11But it sounds like the scammers have got him back on the line.
07:14Hello?
07:15Hello?
07:16Why are you disconnecting the call?
07:17He's read your messages.
07:18He's read my messages.
07:19I'll call you back.
07:20Thank you very much.
07:21Yes, come on.
07:22Yes, I'm going to call him, call him, call him.
07:23Yeah, I'm on it.
07:24I'm on it.
07:25There's no thing that's going to call him.
07:26There's no reason that the phone can be on it.
07:27I've got to call him.
07:28I've got to call him.
07:29I've got to call him.
07:30Oh, no.
07:31I'm on it.
07:32I'm on it.
07:33He's got to call him.
07:34Despite our efforts, it's still a struggle to get through to him.
07:41Oh, he must be so confused.
07:42Oh, bless his soul.
07:47They were so close to money. They're going to be furious.
07:52Yeah, they're not going to give up.
07:55We know the man is now off the phone to the scammer,
07:59but we can't get him to take our calls either.
08:01Just as we're planning our next steps...
08:06Have you read your messages?
08:07He has.
08:09Definite blue ticks.
08:10I would just say, um, call us, we'll explain, or something like that.
08:14He's calling. He's calling.
08:16OK.
08:19Hello, sir.
08:20Hello.
08:20Hi there.
08:21Yeah, yeah, yeah. I thank you for your warning.
08:23That's OK.
08:24I know.
08:30OK, so my name's Nick Stapleton.
08:34I'm a journalist.
08:35I work for the BBC on a programme called Scam Interceptors.
08:39Yeah?
08:39Yeah, yes, I know, I know.
08:40I watch you all the time.
08:41Oh, brilliant.
08:42OK, so what you need to do,
08:45you need to tell your bank that you've been scammed.
08:48Now, the gift cards that you bought,
08:50were they Apple gift cards?
08:51Do you know?
08:53Yeah, Apple gift cards for everything.
08:55OK.
08:55For you, then.
08:56He scratched and revealed the codes on the cards,
08:59but crucially, he hasn't read them out to the scammer,
09:03meaning his money is still on the gift cards.
09:07Do you mind if I ask your name, by the way?
09:09Patrick.
09:10Patrick, hey, Patrick. I'm Nick.
09:11So, Patrick, I think the best thing to do, first of all,
09:14is probably to go to a police station
09:16or call the police on the non-emergency number
09:19and tell them that this has happened
09:22and ask for a crime reference number.
09:25Yeah.
09:26Because you're going to need the crime reference number
09:28to get Apple to give you the money back.
09:30That £700 is currently on those gift cards.
09:33You need that money for something.
09:35OK, so let me go to the police.
09:36Let me go to the police now.
09:37I've got two colleagues who are called Harriet and Mia
09:40who can come and help you with this if you want.
09:42They're BBC journalists.
09:43They've got ID.
09:44I can get them over to you once you're done with the police.
09:47Yeah, Plumstead Police Station.
09:49I don't know if it's open.
09:50That's the newest one to me.
09:51Plumstead. OK, you head there, all right?
09:54All right, thanks a lot for your help.
09:55No problem, Patrick.
09:56I'm really glad that we were able to get you when we did
09:57because that was close.
09:59Thank you. Yeah, thank you very much.
10:01Finally, Patrick is out of the scammer's clutches.
10:05Oh, my goodness.
10:07Wow.
10:08That was as close as it's been, I think.
10:10Wow, wow, wow. OK.
10:11I mean, they must be so confused right now.
10:15Nick gets Harriet and Mia on the phone to tell them the good news
10:19and let them know the plan with the gift cards,
10:21which still contain Patrick's money.
10:24So, we've got a bit of a situation that we're going to need your help with.
10:30OK.
10:30So, a man called Patrick, who I've just spoken to on the phone.
10:34Yeah.
10:34Unfortunately, we just managed to intercept right at the point
10:38where he bought gift cards for the National Crime Agency scam.
10:42Right.
10:43Wow, OK.
10:44He's holding 700 quid's worth of gift cards right now.
10:47We literally heard him scratching the back of the gift cards
10:51to read the codes out to the scammers when we managed to get through to him.
10:54No.
10:55So, what I've done is I've told him to go to his local police station.
10:59OK.
11:00So, what it would be great if you guys can do, if you don't mind,
11:03is to basically say to him that you guys have given him a hand
11:05trying to get his money back after he comes out.
11:07OK.
11:07Yeah, for sure.
11:08Yeah, sounds good.
11:09And hopefully we can get him his 700 quid back.
11:11He said he needs the money.
11:12Absolutely.
11:12We'll get him as much help as we can.
11:15A short while later, the team have almost reached Patrick.
11:19Right.
11:19We're on the high street.
11:20The police station must be around here somewhere.
11:29Is it Patrick?
11:30Yeah, yeah, it's you.
11:31Hi.
11:34Harriet meets Patrick at the station,
11:36where he gets a crime reference number from the police,
11:39which he'll need to get his money back off the gift cards.
11:43We then catch up with him shortly afterwards,
11:46back in the ground team's car.
11:49This is Patrick.
11:50Patrick, how are you?
11:51Yeah, how are you?
11:52How are you doing?
11:53I'm good.
11:54Have you managed to speak to Apple?
11:56Yeah, we spoke to Apple.
11:57Harriet and Mia have a bit of great help.
12:00We sent lots of information today.
12:02It's been quite a stressful morning for Patrick.
12:04It's been quite a stressful morning for me, yeah.
12:04I'm not surprised.
12:06I didn't know this kind of messed up, to tell the truth.
12:08I got a phone call.
12:09The guy is so-called policeman, Mr. Michael.
12:13He said that he's from the Tronc State Police Station.
12:15Yeah.
12:16So at that moment when we spoke,
12:18were you actually scratching the gift cards in that moment?
12:21I was scratching the gift cards.
12:23He was probably on the phone.
12:26So when he finally got the money,
12:27he said when he got outside,
12:28just struck them.
12:29That's when people jumped in.
12:31Oh, that was close.
12:32That was close.
12:33It was close.
12:35Very close.
12:37Well, look, I'm so glad we managed to speak to you when we did,
12:39and I'm so glad that we managed to get these guys out there to help.
12:42Yeah.
12:43We've got all the gift cards here,
12:47so you've uploaded these numbers,
12:50and Patrick's hopefully going to get a refund.
12:52Brilliant.
12:53All right, what a fantastic result.
12:54I'm so happy we were able to help, Patrick.
12:56I appreciate your coming in at the right time.
12:59Oh, it's our pleasure.
13:00It's what we do.
13:01Cheers, team.
13:02Ciao, Dayton.
13:03Bye.
13:04It's a fantastic ending to a very stressful situation,
13:09and sure enough, a few weeks later,
13:11Patrick's money was back where it belongs in his bank account.
13:15If you are being pressured into buying a gift card for someone else,
13:20just stop and take a moment.
13:22Neither the bank, the police, nor any legitimate company
13:25will ever ask you to make a payment via a gift card.
13:29If you have purchased any cards,
13:31never share the numbers on the back
13:32or send photos of the cards to anyone.
13:35If you think you have been the victim of a gift card scam,
13:38call your bank immediately.
13:40Contact the gift card company directly
13:43to see if they can stop the transaction.
13:46Report to Action Fraud,
13:47the UK's central point for reporting fraud to the police.
13:51If you're in Scotland,
13:52report directly to the police on 101.
13:54With help from our ethical hacker Jim Browning,
14:06we continue to monitor the same scammers
14:09who targeted Patrick pretending to be
14:11the UK's national crime agency
14:13under the alias of officer Michael Tiazzo.
14:16They have issued an address to water under your name
14:19to our police station.
14:20A few weeks later, we've had a breakthrough.
14:24So Jim has just been pulling files
14:26from their computers while we've been sat here.
14:29And that includes full government-level identification
14:32for one of the main scammers
14:34that we've been talking to, Ketan.
14:37So we can see what he looks like.
14:38He's a young guy.
14:39He's so young.
14:42This is Ketan Chattavedi.
14:45Ketan is one of the many faces
14:47behind one of the cruelest scams we've ever encountered,
14:51threatening people with arrest
14:52unless they comply with his requests.
14:55Jim and I rejoin the team in the hub
14:57as our investigation ramps up.
15:00Well, Nick, hearing how this group,
15:03in particular, the scammer we're listening to is operating,
15:06I don't know about you,
15:07I genuinely think we have got to do everything we can
15:10to take them down now.
15:11Jim, I know that you've been working away
15:12in the background there,
15:13trying to identify exactly where that scammer is based.
15:17And you think you might have found a location?
15:20Yes, thanks to his wireless networks,
15:22I can pinpoint him to within about 15 metres.
15:25So I've just sent you his location,
15:28and it looks like he's in the very north-west of India.
15:32They're located here,
15:34in the Indian-administered city of Srinagar,
15:37on the banks of the Doudgunga River.
15:41First thing that springs to my mind
15:43is that's clearly just residential, isn't it?
15:46That's probably his house.
15:47So this is brilliant, Jim.
15:49Thank you so much for this.
15:51And the scammer's location
15:52isn't the only trick up our sleeve.
15:55We've got our microphone,
15:56which will mean that we can actually join the calls that he's on.
15:59So what we'll do is,
16:02when he's on a call,
16:03and the moment I tell you that Mike goes live,
16:05you'll be able to talk to him
16:06and the target he's talking to at the same time.
16:09Do you know what?
16:09I think we've got to go really hard here.
16:11We've got to do everything we can.
16:12We've got to flex some serious cyber muscle against this lot.
16:15We continue to monitor Catan's calls.
16:19Has it helped me with the last four digits of your national insurance number?
16:23We've heard enough.
16:24Time to put our allegations to him.
16:27It's because there is an investigation going under your name,
16:29and your national insurance number.
16:31Is that Catan?
16:34Sorry?
16:35Is that Catan?
16:39Is that Catan?
16:43Who is this?
16:45This is Ralph Wilding from the Scam Interceptors programme made by the BBC.
16:49You're a scammer.
16:51Why are you trying to scam people pretending you're from the NCA?
16:53The victim hangs up the court, but Catan is still listening.
16:59I'm sorry?
17:00Why are you scamming people?
17:05Why have you suddenly gone quiet?
17:07You've got plenty to say when you're trying to steal people's money.
17:10What are you up to at the moment?
17:11You're sat in Srinagar, aren't you?
17:15Are you looking outside your window?
17:17Can you see the river?
17:18How's the view?
17:20We know where you are.
17:26Why have you gone so quiet?
17:28His silence is telling.
17:31Don't worry.
17:31We'll be sending all our findings about your illegal operation to the police.
17:35How would you feel, Catan, if this was a member of your family getting scammed in this way?
17:45Left in floods of tears because of what you do to them.
17:49I'm sure you wouldn't like it.
17:53Catan has gotten a fright and turns off his computer.
17:58OK.
17:59He's gone.
18:00He's gone.
18:00And unfortunately, for someone who makes an illegal living out of being such a good talker,
18:07had nothing to say to me.
18:09He switched his computer off pretty quickly.
18:12But it's not over, is it, Nick?
18:13We want to make sure we put a stop to this entire operation.
18:18And there are still other computers from this call center on the network.
18:22Thanks to Jim's access, we now know the names of other scammers in the room.
18:27Now I want to speak to them.
18:34Is that Sohil or is that Akash?
18:38Maybe it's AJ.
18:41Who is it?
18:42Sohil?
18:43Akash?
18:44AJ?
18:48Hello.
18:49Who's that?
18:51Is that Sohil?
18:53Akash?
18:53Who are you?
18:54Is that Sohil?
18:55He cuts the call.
19:01They are very spooked.
19:04But we're not giving up.
19:07The scammers clearly don't want to talk, but we've got another ace up our sleeve.
19:12Interceptor Harleen puts our allegations to Catan in Hindi.
19:17The scammers don't say a word.
19:45Now that they are aware of our presence, Nick can use the full extent of our access and writes
19:51a message on their computer screens.
19:54And Nick, read out what you've just put on their computer.
19:57This is BBC Scam Interceptors.
19:58We know who you are and we know where you are.
20:00Our information will be going to the police in Jammer and Kashmir.
20:03Tell your boss to call us.
20:04And I've left our number for them.
20:05Brilliant work.
20:06Somebody tells me they won't ring.
20:09And looking at that screen right now, Nick, how many scam calls are they making?
20:14Some of our most evil, persistent, horrible scammers we've had on the show.
20:18And right now, they're doing nothing.
20:20Nothing at all.
20:21Brilliant.
20:22A good result, team.
20:23Really good result.
20:24But remarkably, seemingly undeterred, the next day, while Nick is in the hub, the scammers
20:33are back online.
20:35Just yesterday, we confronted our NCA scammers, some of the most grim, evil, manipulative scammers
20:43that we've ever had on the show.
20:47They're back online.
20:48It's like they thought what happened was just some kind of glitch in the matrix.
20:53I think we need to put them on the straight and narrow.
20:55So, I'm going to try and have some more conversations with them.
20:58Nick writes them another message, this time in their private group chat.
21:04How many bank accounts are you using in UK?
21:07This is BBC Scam Interceptors.
21:09Uh-huh.
21:10That is BC.
21:11We know who you all are.
21:18We will be reporting you to the police.
21:23He seems to have gone quiet on his little scam.
21:28He's just shot him through you down straight away.
21:30I did it.
21:31Come on.
21:31We got it.
21:32We're going to agree.
21:32OK.
21:33Every single one of them knows.
21:34No hesitation.
21:35Finger on the power button.
21:36But I got the messages into their chat first.
21:39He is going to be scared right now.
21:40And his friends are going to be scared as well.
21:42Ketan and his colleagues are clearly on edge and try to remove us from their servers.
21:47But they're unsuccessful.
21:49Meaning we can still see them trying to scam vulnerable people in the UK.
21:54They think they've gotten away with it.
21:56But we're not letting that happen.
21:59Now, we've already called them out.
22:01Yep.
22:01And I thought it was very successful when we called them out because we saw the computers shut down.
22:06However, you have just discovered they're very much online.
22:10Yep.
22:11They have not realized that we have access to their call server.
22:14So, thanks to Jim and his technical know-how, we have got a deeper level of access that they believe that we have.
22:21But I am personally offended that they are still going on, as I'm sure you are.
22:26It annoys me.
22:27I never want to hear Michael Tiazzo's name ever again.
22:29So, I think we need to go even harder today.
22:32And I think we should really put the wind up them and scare them into shutting this operation down for good.
22:37I decide to speak to Ketan again.
22:41And this time...
22:43Ketan?
22:47Ketan?
22:49This is Rav Wilding.
22:50The program's called Scam Interceptors.
22:52And we've been monitoring you for months.
22:54You're a scammer, Ketan.
22:55You're not from the NCA.
22:57You're lying.
22:59You are not from the NCA.
23:01Who was you?
23:03Who was you?
23:05Ketan, why are you trying to scam people?
23:07Why are you pretending you're from the National Crime Agency when you're not?
23:13Who are you?
23:14Hang up the phone, sir.
23:16He is not from the National Crime Agency.
23:18Do not talk to this man.
23:20Hang up the phone.
23:20You're not in any trouble.
23:23Ketan, you are, though.
23:25He hung up.
23:26So, we crash into another call.
23:28Now, can you confirm me your real postcode?
23:31We can differentiate between what is real and what is bogus.
23:34Don't give your postcode.
23:36You're talking to a thief.
23:37He's not from the National Crime Agency.
23:40Okay.
23:42Wow.
23:43Okay, next one.
23:44And another.
23:48Hello.
23:49Don't tell them how many bank accounts you're using because it's a scammer.
23:52You're not talking to the National Crime Agency.
23:54This is Rav Wilding from the Scam Interceptor Program.
23:57My name's Rav Wilding.
23:58What's your name?
23:59Is it Sahil?
24:00Is it Akash?
24:00Is it AJ?
24:02Who is it?
24:02Who are you?
24:04I've just told you it's Rav Wilding from the Scam Interceptor Program.
24:07What's your name?
24:08Why are you pretending you're from the National Crime Agency?
24:11You're not.
24:12You're a thief.
24:13You're a scammer.
24:14The panic is palpable.
24:29Oh, they're freaking out.
24:30Oh, they're panicking, aren't they?
24:32They are panicking.
24:33They are freaking out.
24:34They thought they got away with it.
24:36Right, there's another one.
24:37Ready?
24:38Yeah, let's go.
24:39Hello there.
24:39This is Rav Wilding from the Scam Interceptor Program.
24:42They are thieves trying to steal from you.
24:44Who the hell are you?
24:45I've just told you.
24:46My name's Rav Wilding.
24:47What's your name, pal?
24:50Why don't you tell us your real name?
24:52Instead of pretending you're from the National Crime Agency.
24:55What's your name?
24:58I've just told you.
24:59It's Rav Wilding.
24:59What's your name?
25:01You're a thief.
25:02You're a scammer.
25:04Do you know us?
25:06Yeah, we do.
25:07What's your name?
25:09We know you're not from the National Crime Agency.
25:13It's none of your business.
25:14You're a thief.
25:15You're a scammer.
25:16It's totally my business.
25:18We know you're in Srinegal.
25:22You know people can and do go to prison for this, don't you?
25:24Yeah, we know where you are.
25:26We've been monitoring you for a long time.
25:28Why don't you tell us your real name?
25:34I told you that's none of your business.
25:35It's totally my business.
25:37It's what we do.
25:38We stop people getting scammed by people like you.
25:40What's the view of the river like out of your window?
25:47Why don't you come here in person to look at me?
25:49Oh, I would love to.
25:51I would love to.
25:51There's quite a few things I'd like to say to you.
25:53But why do you do this?
25:55How would you like it if your family were scammed?
26:00The scammer hangs up.
26:02And after this, they change their passwords in an attempt to stop us disrupting their operation further.
26:08But they don't realise that we won't stop until they shut down for good.
26:15They're still going.
26:18I don't think they understand how we're listening to their calls.
26:22And so they've not done anything to either change their settings or try and kick us out, apart from change one password.
26:29I mean, they're persistent, but we are going to be even more persistent.
26:32We'll stay on them until they stop doing this.
26:33We will disrupt this lot as much as we possibly can because they are ruthless and they are taking thousands and thousands of innocent people's money.
26:42Yep.
26:43So we've got to put a stop to it.
26:44Quite right.
26:45We dial in again.
26:48This man's a liar.
26:49He's nothing to do with a national crime agency.
26:51Please put down the phone.
26:54Who are you?
26:54My name's Rav Wilding.
26:56I work on a program called Scam Interceptors.
26:57He's lying.
26:58He's a scammer.
26:59He's a scammer.
27:00I'm not lying.
27:01Look it up online so you can see how you verify a national crime agency officer.
27:05They don't phone you out of the blue.
27:07That comes off.
27:08The scammer quits the call.
27:10And this time.
27:12They've all gone off the server straight away.
27:14Okay.
27:14So that voice I recognised as one we've listened into before.
27:17Yeah, for sure.
27:19For sure.
27:19And he seemed almost deflated at that point that we've disrupted yet another attempt at him to steal money off someone.
27:25I couldn't agree more.
27:26He sounded like he almost couldn't believe that we were there again because they've gone to the trouble of changing passwords.
27:32They really thought that would be it and it would be over.
27:35No such luck.
27:35I think they're going to realise now that their server is completely compromised yet.
27:40So right now, Nick, looking at the screen, how many from that group are active making calls?
27:45Nothing.
27:46We have the message on the screen that we very much like to see, which is no live calls waiting, no agents on calls.
27:52Top work.
27:53Fact, yeah.
27:54It's nice, actually.
27:55It does, doesn't it?
27:56And that's them booted.
27:59Finally, we seem to have done it.
28:02The NCA scammers have been forced to completely abandon their server and we haven't heard from them since.
28:10We also reported them to the relevant authorities, including the real UK National Crime Agency,
28:15and it told us it would never contact individuals requesting money, gift cards or bank details.
28:22If we were to be at the place to take on a basis, we should just attend the security of those hostages and 그럴
