Tomer Capone shares the challenge of wrestling with his character's past in season 4 of 'The Boys.' Plus, he tells THR at San Diego Comic-Con how he ships Frenchie and Kimiko.
Transcript
00:00A lot of the characters have to really wrestle with their past this season, including Frenchie.
00:04What was it like getting to do that?
00:06Challenging, more than anything.
00:08I mean, you know, Frenchie, again, it's like, he's the wild card.
00:12If the boys is a family, so Frenchie is the troubled teenager, you know what I mean?
00:18And to read the new scripts of season four and see the storyline for Frenchie, so dark it was, so dark.
00:28And I went like, oh, that's interesting, that's a challenge, that's something new.
00:32And it wasn't always easy because, just because the material is so, just dark and hard.
00:41But, unfortunately, we have such beautiful and amazing people working on this show.
00:50And everything kind of makes you, it's a family.
00:53So you feel like you're in a safe place, like you're protected, and you get the opportunity to explore.
01:01It's a beautiful playground for an actor, so I was very, very thankful for that, yeah.
01:07We get to see Kimiko and Frenchie finally come together and share a kiss in season four.
01:11Do you ship them as a couple?
01:13Oh, yeah, of course, of course, come on.
01:16They have to get to Marseille at some point, come on, it's inevitable, yeah.
01:20But actually, that kiss, you know, again, being here five years ago, nobody knew who we were.
01:26I was walking this place, Comic-Con, telling people I'm from this show called The Boys, please, you can watch it, it'll come out soon.
01:33And now we're here, Comic-Con, and look at all these amazing, beautiful fans.
01:38And fans made the show what it is.
01:40And I feel like this kiss between Kimiko and Frenchie was something that the fans really wanted, really asked for.
01:48And it felt like a symbiotic relationship that we are actually giving them what they want, hearing them.
01:56And that's, we're all just, you know, it's like a family thing.
01:59So shooting that, knowing this was very, very, very emotional, yeah.
02:07Season four ends with the boys in probably the worst place we've ever seen them.
02:13What do you think or hope happens for them in the final season, season five?
02:18Man, oh, look at that question.
02:20Did you ask everyone that question?
02:21What did I say?
02:22I mean, I'm dying to know.
02:25What was the most amazing answer you got?
02:28I mean, answers have been all over the place.
02:30But thinking of Frenchie, is there one thing you'd like to see him do in season five he hasn't done yet?
02:34What?
02:36Eurogasm.
02:37Yeah.
02:38Yeah.
02:38It's on his bucket list.
02:40It's on the fans' bucket list.
02:42So make some noise.
02:43Frenchie deserves to go to this party.
02:46We can make it happen.
02:49And 55 million people tuned in to season four.
02:53When you hear that number, what goes through your mind?
02:55I just heard it yesterday.
02:56Eric Kripke told me that.
02:57I said, I can't even imagine what it's 55 million people.
03:02So, again, I guess we're doing something right.
03:07And I'm just, I feel blessed to be a part of this amazing, amazing experience that is the boys.
03:15Like, what can I say, you know?
