Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson talks about how his character Copperhead differs from the version fans know from the comics while chatting with THR at the 'Captain America: Brave New World' premiere. Plus, he explains what it was like to see Anthony Mackie come into the role of Captain America.

00:06i gotta say well i thought well yeah i mean i'm from iceland and it's supposedly winter for you

00:13guys here but this a day like today is like peak summer for us right right so this is great i was

00:20down at the santa monica pier there was almost no one there and me and my wife were down there

00:26in the sun in our t-shirts and uh yeah it was great you know when i first moved out here i saw

00:32someone in like shorts in a tank and i was like or no i saw somebody all bundled up and i was like

00:35what the hell are they doing and a few years later here i am i'm like right you know it happens fast

00:41um okay copperhead yes yeah congratulations on this role we got this clip i think it was released uh

00:48today yesterday something i can't keep track of my days right a little fighting you guys fighting

00:53yeah a little arguing between the captain and copperhead yeah so tell me about your dynamic

00:58and how does this character differ from uh the version we know in the comics well in the comics

01:03he's like a half a snake so he's in that way he's sort of different he's he's a human and uh

01:11but i mean uh there is similarities with sort of uh i mean he's he's not a nice guy is he you know he's

01:18uh he's uh maybe he's just misunderstood but he has his differences with the with the captain and

01:24uh they hash it out they hash it out and we'll see how it goes yeah um is there i mean working

01:30with anthony mackie we saw him in uh falcon and winter soldier really starting to take on the mantle

01:35hesitantly um and now it's been i think a few years have passed so what was it like seeing him

01:40fully as captain america going into this yeah that was a treat because i've been i've been watching

01:45these marvel movies since they came out and i remember seeing mackie what was it like 10 years

01:49ago when he started out as the falcon and i always liked his performances and uh so it's kind of a

01:54weird moment when you're standing neck you know opposite him doing some dialogue and i mean he just

02:00he fits the suit and he's i think he's really he's the captain he is the captain he's the captain

02:05america right now well there's a lot of talk of like who is going to lead the avengers next

02:09yeah i mean i think he's the obvious choice yeah yeah and then harrison ford as well who i feel

02:16like like there's so many expectations about what harrison ford is like and then i think people talk to

02:22him and he's funny and like what what was your kind of expectation going in and and did he surprise you

02:26well the man is a legend isn't he but uh i mean he's uh he's a he's a great nice nice man

02:34and he's he's actually just like human which is surprising when you're indiana jones and

02:41and han solo and red hulk right but then he's just a really nice guy really nice guy red hulk by

02:47valentine yeah i'm calling it now calling this um since you have you said you're a big fan of the

02:53fcu this movie is also calling back and bringing back characters from the incredible hulk in 2008

02:57which is such a full circle thing so yeah it's it's a i mean this is an old school marvel film i feel

03:03it's i mean it's it's grounded it's it's it's an action thriller and i mean i can't wait to see

03:09the finished product uh i was i was there on set but i i haven't seen the movie but i'm excited
