Stefani Robinson spoke with The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet of the THR and FX 'What We Do In The Shadows' Vampire Nightclub at San Diego Comic-Con.
Transcript
00:00We're here tonight celebrating season four of What We Do in the Shadows, and you received an Emmy nomination for last season.
00:06The show got seven, but you got one for writing.
00:09What does it mean to you to get that kind of recognition?
00:11It's amazing. It's so surreal.
00:12It's like one of the things that you think about when you're a little kid that, you know, isn't supposed to happen, but it does.
00:20But I think specifically for this television show, too, it's even more amazing because this is just something that I love so much.
00:26And I love being a part of, and I'm so honored to be a part of.
00:29So it's just, I mean, and this is incredible.
00:30Being at Comic-Con, everything, like, exceeds by wildest dreams.
00:35With season four airing now, what are you most excited for fans to see this season?
00:39Oh, man, I'm excited to see, obviously, more baby, child, Colin Robinson action going on.
00:47It's creepy. It's insane.
00:50There's like, do you watch Twilight?
00:52There's like a Renesmee kind of angle to it.
00:55The little creepy hybrid vampire baby that they CGI'd onto a child.
00:59All to say, it's so weird and strange and specific, and I think I'm just excited for everyone to see more of that.
01:05And Mark is amazing as well.
01:07The show has already been renewed through seasons five and six.
01:10How much do you have planned out right now?
01:12Like, do you plan far ahead, or does it just kind of as it comes?
01:16I don't know how much is planned for right now.
01:18I don't know how much is planned ahead, and I think this is one of the shows in the past where we've kind of taken it as it came.
01:26You know, like, as we got into each new season, it was like, all right, we're here again.
01:30Let's try to figure this out.
01:31And the cliffhangers we've sort of left everybody with, we don't necessarily have plans for how we resolve them.
01:37So, hard to say.
01:40How do you feel like season four takes the show to the next level?
01:43Well, I think this season, the thing that I like about it, I feel like it's something that was always sort of baked into the show,
01:51but I think comes more to the forefront now, is that the characters sort of feel more like a family, more than they ever have been.
01:57And in my mind, the show has always kind of been a family sitcom that's pretty messed up and weird and freaky.
02:03So, I think we're just seeing more of that between the co-parenting and Nandor-fying love and sort of, like, these complicated family dynamics.
02:10Like, it is, I think, starting to feel more deeper in those ways.
02:14That's what Colin always says.
02:15We're like a family.
02:16Yes, we're like a family.
02:18And, you know, Nandor, with his character, what can we kind of expect with his wife?
02:23Is he going to keep this wife?
02:25Will a new wife come?
02:26I think he might keep his wife and maybe expect some modifications.
02:33Thank you so much.
02:34Have a great night tonight.
02:35So nice to meet you.
