The first superhero tentpole of 2018 hits theaters in three weeks.

00:08Black Panther is tracking to roar into theaters with a heroic $100 to $120 million
00:13debut at the North American box office, according to early pre-release surveys.
00:18The standalone superhero movie from Marvel Studios and Disney opens on February 16th,
00:23the beginning of the four-day President's Day weekend.
00:25Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa, aka Black Panther, alongside Lupita Nyong'o,
00:31Michael B. Jordan, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forrest Whitaker,
00:37and Andy Serkis. Ryan Coogler directed the film.
00:47The movie is the 18th title in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It's also the first tentpole film of 2018.
00:53And if tracking is correct, Black Panther will come in ahead of standalone Marvel pic Doctor Strange,
00:58which posted a three-day debut of $85 million in November 2016. It would also be the biggest opening
01:04of 2018 to date. Earlier this month, Black Panther set a new record for Marvel.
01:09It became the best-selling Marvel Cinematic Universe movie in terms of pre-sales in the first 24 hours,
01:14according to ticket site Fandango.
